I then marked on the floor where the holes needed to be drilled.

The holes were drilled through the floor and plywood.

The brass tubing was painted to match the posts. The post assembly was then set in place for a test fit.

I also used a tooth pick and marked red paint on the brass wire to indicate the positive (+) conduit when the wires are powered.

Dave,

Okay, I misunderstood what you meant. Did the strong magnets work on the warp issue?

Thin paper magnets is certainly a consideration, thanks.

Tom ;D
Yeah, they did.  (I used 1/32" plywood for the subroof, and all the sheets I could find had a bit of a warp.)  Once I solve the problem of gluing the wall magnets -permanently- to the wall (which will include some space between wall and roof magnets, to reduce the magnetic attraction), I should be Good to Go.  This project is on long-term hold, until I build the part of the new layout where the roundhouse & turntable will go.

I like your idea for running current up the walls to the ceiling.  I may steal that when I get back to my roundhouse. :-)

Such a beautiful layout, Tom! You are truly an artist. Can't wait to see the MA&G box car riding the rails of the A&S!!

Dave,

Glad to hear the warp issue was fixed. By all means, use any and all ideas you get from the thread. Sharing is what this forum is about.

Jan,

I appreciate you stopping by. Running the wires down the brass tubing is sure much neater than trying to glue them to the inside of the posts and then through the holes.

Cliff,

Thank you for the very kind and most generous compliment on the layout. This layout was inspired by visiting your beautiful Magnolia Route. I owe it all to you my friend.

I didn't waste any time interchanging the MA&G boxcar on the A&S RR.

It is the second freight car behind the ABA ACL units in the 35 car train.

I was at the Dentist Office most of the morning so work today is slow.

I got all the brass conduits installed and soldered end to end.

I must be getting old. I forgot it's Diet Pepsi time here.

Back after a cold one.

I also got the next row of LEDs wired. I need to call Slim and order more LEDs.

Order placed with Slim Jerkins. I hope they are the fire proof LEDS.

Following along, admiring the progress.

At one point, my ex bought a can of 'magnetic paint' which she never used.  Good thing, as the web tells me it takes 6+ coats vs. the 3 the label recommends.  Maybe I will try it on a structure, though it sounds like the attraction wouldn't be strong enough to undo a warp like Dave's magnets.

James,

I've heard that the magnetic paint isn't very magnetic out of the can. Maybe it's a good thing she didn't use it on the marriage. ;D ;D

Greg,

I'd say more often than not. Just saying.
