FSM The Depot #110

Gonna start off and let everyone know that this is my first build. I am going to put myself out there in hopes of gaining criticism to learn from. Any tips/tricks are appreciated. I will try and include pictures as I go.

Thanks Jim, gotta start somewhere. I am gonna need lots of help, of this I am sure. I am up in Nebraska at the moment with limited tools but gonna give it my all. Got the walls primed tonight, paint sometime tomorrow. I will post a couple more pictures then.

Welcome aboard, Gerald.  FSM kits can be intimidating, but if you just follow George's excellent instructions, you'll do fine.

Welcome to the forum Gerald.  It's nice to see FSM kits being built as opposed to stashed away.  I've learned quite a bit from building FSM kits over the years.  The instructions are wonderful.  A few techniques may have changed over the years but many are still quite valid. 

One example of a technique that may have changed: On an older kit such as this the instructions might mention making 'pitch' for around the chimneys by mixed a drop of Floquil Grimy Black into some 5 minute Epoxy, applying it and then painting it with a clear flat finish after it hardens.  It's far easier to mix a drop or two of acrylic paint (Model Master Grimy Black) with some Elmer's White Glue to make pitch.  Or use Gallery Glass Liquid Leading if you can find it.  The working time is longer then the epoxy method and it dries flat so you don't have to follow up with the flat finish.

Thanks for all the support guys. Looking back I misspoke in the first post. This is actually my third build, my first FSM. I have built a C. C. Crow and a Bar Mills. I am sure along the way I will have questions. Gonna make the two hour drive to the hobby shop this morning so it will be the afternoon before I get anything done. Thanks again for all the responses.

Welcome to the forum! I will be following along on you build and would also be happy to answer questions.  Just so you know,  George follows the builds of his kits here on the forum.  He doesn't post but he has Tommy's phone number and will make sure you get a message through the forum.  I'm just kidding Thom - he has my number along with a few other here, too. Wish I had more to show you guys, truth is I painted windows til I was painted out! I did use my Tyrion model brush built by Lannister to apply antique white regular hobby paint. Gonna work on the station color tomorrow. Thanks for all the support guys.

Welcome to the Forum.  Take your time and follow the step by step instructions . You will end up with a neat station and have a model to be proud of.  Will follow along on your FSM #110 build.
