If possible, I'd move the posts out closer to the curb.
Where they are now, you'd never hit them while opening a car door while parked near the curb. That's where they are in real life. Right where you don't want/need them.

Chip,

Yes, it is possible and they will be moved. I just had them sitting in place. I like the idea of cars getting dinged. High curbs are another thing that gets me going. You open the car door and "bang", where the hell did the curb come from.

Appreciate the input.

I assembled a few posts and painted them with Floquil Brunswick Green. When dry, I sprayed a coat of Scalecoat Semi-Gloss on the posts and set aside to dry.

Two of these will go on the street block for Bill and Kris and four are for Reading Bob to place on his beautiful Red Light District.  More will be made for Bill and Kris' town area.

Tom,

I always enjoy watching you work.  Once again, you are posting a wonderful step by step on how attention to detail (and superb craftsmanship) elevate a scene from good to great.

Jerry,

Thank you for following along. I believe John Siekirk said it best in saying, "It's all in the details".

Your very generous compliment is much appreciated. I do try to be as detailed as possible to improve a scene.

Again, thank you.

Today I assembled two lamp posts and installed them on the mini diorama.

I mentioned the sidewalks were painted with Floquil Aged Concrete. In the weathering process, I tried something different. I applied a very light coat of Hunterline Driftwood A&I to the sidewalks. This gave them a dirty but not neglected look.

I also moved the posts closer to the street so the car doors get dinged. Better yet close enough where if you park in front of one you can't open the car door. I just wonder how I have this little bit of knowledge?

I'll wire the lights and show how they look tomorrow. I'm waiting for the glue to dry.

Tom...

My favorite thing to use for round street light globes are the clear plastic protectors that come on paint brushes.

I slice them up like salami.  I can get about four globes out of a single sleeve.  Most have gone on other people's railroads.

You are welcome. It has been a fun little project. I can't wait until we get it in place.

Looking forward to the trees as well.
