Hi Guys , after following along with postalkarls build I thought I may show some of my own build I'm working on.
As you can see I added a bit more bracing than required , not only to avoid the dreaded warpage from playing with the A/I and Rembrant chalks but also it helped for setting up the deck with the glue.
I work shift work so I tend to try to do a bit ( sometimes rushed ) and run off to work letting it setup overnite.

Thanks Bob , the nice thing about using chalks is you can move the color around easy enough with a brush and alcohol.

Hi Lynn:

glad to see you posting your build along with mine. I shall be following along. your barge looks great. Lynn I added even more bracing than you as I was having a warping problem. I think I solved it though.

Walls were given a coat of floquil grime and left overnite to set then used floquil depot olive ( I think ) and an old technique with  mix of thinner/ paint on the brush. I then copied the wall templates then realized I didn't need them for other than measuring the spacing for the interior framing. I realized afterward the interior would need some kind of color and seeing as plain wood wasn't going to work after getting some green where I didn't want it, I simply gave them a spray of khaki.
The big sliding door in the front just didn't make scence at all so made a couple swing out doors.

Gotta love that Khaki paint! I use the Camo Khaki a lot.  As far as the sliding door, I guess if when the doors are open there is enough room to get around the building it would be ok.. it might limit the space for the assorted "stuff/castings" in front of the building because of the door swing.....just my thought.... also make sure that doors (when they swing open) won't hit the cable that comes down from the top of the pile driver tower... I know that when I built mine I increased the height of the cable opening above the door for extra clearance (the cable was up against the top of the opening when strung down to the motor).  when I built mine, I did not glue the building down to the decking until after I built the tower framework and pulled the "cable" string down to where the motor was going to sit

Thanks Bob for the tip, do you have a pic you can post of yours or a link to it?

I put the structure to the side for now as I'm not sold on the roof panel thickness.
I started on the derick.

hey Lynn,  I will post some photos on the daily chat thread for today of my build.  I have not finished detailing it fully, but you can see the space that you end up with from the door opening to the start of the pile driver framework.  BTW, I used the roof card supplied with the kit, and IMO it is a good thickness.  The roof is made to be lifted off the structure to see the interior detail, so you do want it to be somewhat sturdy.

Thanks Bob for the info on the roof, I had thought the entire building was to be lifted off. Couple things to think about now. Thanks and will check out your pile driver.
