Lynn,

I didn't realize that both you and Karl were building pile drivers.  Anyway, I'm caught up on your build now.  I'll echo previous comments, especially love the deck stain.  It really has that dirty used look. Looking forward to your continuing progress.

Thanks Jerry, Karl's build actually inspired me to post the build, there doesn't seem to be many documented builds of this pile driver.

Got kinda busy with real life stuff so didn't get real far but did get the derick glued together. Oh yes and found the small copper pipe and cut up for the roof exhausts, I'll give it a quick flat black primer and a lite coat of floquil grimy black and rust.

Derick is done and in place, well just needs the cable.
I colored the cable with Grimy Black and Rust mixed.

Made a bit more progress, I got the gears setup with the cables attached, took  a bit of measuring and adjusting to figure out where to place structure, boiler etc.
As you can see I chose not to use the cardstack for the roofing panel, and drew out the lines on the underside with 2' spacing not only for the rafter tails but also for the rafters and joyces. Yes I did get carried away but I get so much enjoyment with the wood stuff plus it adds to the weight of the entire kit. I'm going to attempt to peel the roof off the structure and rely solely on the rafters for a snug fit.
Oh yes and as you can see I received my new tool I had ordered along with the Jaxx, bigger is so much better.

I got a bit more done tonight , I think I'm about ready to shingle . I don't think I will glue down the smoke stack pieces until I figure out what I'm going to do when I get up there with shingles.

nice wrk Lynn. just my 2 cents, if you shingle the roof then attach the stack piece, it will look like it's sitting on the shingles,, i know it's extra work, but in cases like this I glue the stack structure onto the roof and shingle up to the structure.   it's how it would be done in the real world and the structure would sit better on the roof
