I got a good start on the roof weathering today. I took progress pictures throughout the day so you can follow the steps I went through. In this picture I have just started with the alcohol and chalk wash on the metal roofing. The tar paper and cedar shingle roof on the tower have been dry brushed with a light gray and dark green for the moss growing on the roof.

The light and dark contrast on the tarpaper is showing up much more pronounced in the photographs than it does to my eye. The iPhone cameras like to do that.   I will be doing some touchup once the buildings are set in place on the diorama - and again when the diorama is placed on the layout.

At this point I'm starting to add the three different shades of rust to the metal roof dry over the first dark brown that was applied with alcohol - more like a paint.
