John, an exquisite super scene. I am really anxious to see it in place.

Looks like you have G Wilikers and Swakhammers lurking in the background on your bench. Is one of those going to be your next build?

Vince

Thank you for the kind words. My next four builds will be Sewall's, Fox Run, Swakhammers, and G. Wilikers. All for the Eagles Nest Yard area on the layout. I will be getting started on Sewall's, my challenge build, as soon as this diorama is on the layout.

Hey John:

Looks just great. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Karl.  I'm working on getting my back fixed (physical therapy) so I can stand at the work bench for longer periods of time.  The last three weeks have been pretty slow.

It just doesn't stop, John!

Its such a pleasure to watch all these spectacular kits being built - one after the other!

Good luck with the back!

Cheers, Mark.

Thank you for stopping by and the encouraging words. I hope your back is feeling better, too.   Mine seems to be getting a little better each day.

Coming along nicely, that is an interesting looking pin vise.

Thanks Lynn - I have a collection of pin vises that I have bought over the years and find the all work about the same so I have designated drill sizes in most of them.

Year End Status Report: All of the subassemblies for Threadwell's are off my detailing bench and in the process of being installed on the diorama. I have the final subassembly for Delabarre's, the loading dock, on the workbench. The assembly procedure is the same as that documented for Threadwell's so I didn't take pictures. The following pictures document the progress to date, we are getting close.

As you can see from the pictures I started coloring the plaster base for the water.  I started by painting the enter area with Dark SeaGreen. I then started adding highlights with Pan Pastels. This is where I ended up today, when my back told me I had done enough.

That SeaGreen is a great color.  Did you brush it on, applied wet?  Or did you use an airbrush?

Thanks for the comments - I applied the SeaGreen with a brush. The Pan Pastels were applied dry with a brush. The SeaGreen was too dark so I'm adding some greens, blues, and along the one shore some browns to show a different depth. I have some more work to do but I think it's heading in the right direction.  We will see what it looks like with the water.

The color look great for me... I search for long time how to paint base for water.

I think you have answer my question.

John -- Did you make those drawers in the background ("ROOFING MATERIALS, etc.). As I am now trying to organize my basement, I'm looking to steal some good ideas.
