Better go fishing upstream from that nasty looking stuff.  No skinny dipping either.  Wonderful looking scene.   :) :) :)

Bob,

Thank you for the kind comment. If you did take a dip in this area of the river, your bathing suit would probably be gone in a few minutes along with your hair. Oh, never mind about the hair, we don't need to worry about that.  8)

Think of all the good you're doing for future employment by creating a terrific EPA Super Fund site.....atta boy Tom.  8)

Greg,

Thank you, yea, people like me in the 50's gave the EPA their start in December 1970.

No 'gators or 'moccasins in that stretch of the river at least.

Larry,

None when the chemicals are dumped. However, I've seen gators in some pretty nasty stuff here in Florida..

I got a little more work done today on the details for the river.

I stained a 3/16" dowel with Hunterline Medium Brown A&I.  I used some spare Styrene and cut two triangles and two squares. I also printed two Danger-No Swimming signs.

I then cut the 3/16" dowel to six pieces of 10 HO scale feet in length.

The signs were glued to the posts using an 5 minutes 2 part epoxy.

The signs  will be channel marker signs for the river.

I painted the two squares with Floquil Southern Green and the two triangle signs with Floquil Signal Red. When the paint is dry and cured, I'll add white numbers to the signs.

More on the channel markers later this weekend.

Merry Christmas ya'll.

I continue to make slow but steady progress on the river area. I still find myself getting very tired after a few hours, so, I take many breaks.

I finished the pilings and used thread to represent rope. The rope was stained with Hunterline Light Gray A&I.

I added the "Danger - NO Swimming" signs to the chemical pollution site.

More in a few.

I've always wanted to add a very old and rotten dock with nothing left but the pilings and a few boards. The next two photos show my feeble attempt.

All the loose scenery material will be removed prior to the water being added.

I then added the channel markers.

Green going out to open waters and red indicating a return to port - Red, Right, Return.

The numbers on the markers indicate the number of markers left until you reach the end, IE, open water or return to base.

The next several photos show scenery being added to the river banks.

Kris Cutler made the cypress trees for the Atlantic and Southern. They are made from Scenic Express Super Trees and Mastic. They were then colored to represent the cypress bark.

These trees are a work of art and look fantastic. Better in person than the photos show.
