Vince,

I'm only showing the finished photos. You should have seen it during deconstruction. Appreciate you checking in.

Curt,

I used Elmer's Carpenter's Glue to glue it in place. Here is how I get it clean and neat. These photos are from a couple years ago.

I used a 1 inch wide wood chisel slanted side down. I cut the roadbed on both ends of the piece I want removed. Using the chisel, I push it under the cork and it comes up very easily. Of course you want a sharp chisel otherwise it's a little harder.

Once the major portion of the cork has been removed, I used warm water and spray it on the remaining cork still glued to the plywood.

Again, using the chisel, I remove the remaining cork and let the plywood dry overnight.

I then use sandpaper to remove any cork or glue reisdue.

Now you have a clean smooth surface to redo the roadbed and lay the track.

Early this morning I started making the repairs. The inside track, the Tahope cut off, was fairly simple and straight forward. I glued the roadbed in place and when dry, sanded it smooth and added the track. One down.

Then new outside mainline wasn't so straight forward. The area where the south reverse loop track was, is at a different level.

More in a few.

Also, there is another step down on the plywood as seen on the left. This wasn't an issue when using the curved turnout as it was on the lower level of both sections of plywood. The scenery covered these two areas.

This section will need a shim for the track to be level.

More in a few.

The cork here is to high and will need to be sanded down and flush with the plywood on the right.

I started by gluing and tacking the roadbed in place.

When dry, the tacks were removed and the cork sanded smooth.

Continued in a few. Diet Pepsi break time. 8)
