Really looking forward to this.

Thanks Pops.  I'm glad to have you following along.  I see by your signature that you're relatively new to the hobby so I'll try to take my time and step you through what's involved in building an FSM kit.  George's kits have long been my favorites.  The instructions are so chock full of tips and techinques it's like taking a class on how to built a structure and diorama.

Great , an FSM build thread is always nice to follow, thanks Bob.

Thanks Jan!  I couldn't agree more.  Let's pull those yellow boxes down off the shelf and get some build threads going gang.   ;D

Can't wait to see your progress on this one. I'm sure I'll pick up  a thing or 20 along the way a I usually do when following your builds.

Kenny

Thanks Kenny!  I'll be sure to pass on the tips that are included in the instructions plus and deviations I may make from them.  Most of what I learned to do came from building FSM kits and the forums so I take great pleasure in sharing what I can.   :D

Same as I do on all your builds - I don't intend to miss nuthin that the Ledbetter construction
crew can use on my layout!

It just wouldn't be the same if you weren't following along Gnat.   :D

Do cookies baked on those cookie sheets taste funny?  Like paint?   ;D I'll be interested to see how the Gatorfoam base works as well.

Jeff

Around X-Mas it works best if I use Dark Green or Caboose Red before we bake the X-Mas cookies.  That way the paint flakes blend right in.   ;D

I think I'll stick with the GatorFoam base.  It's extremely sturdy, I have no worries about it warping and it's light weight.  I've used it on some other builds and really like it but all of those were only single level.  This was the first attempt at building a multi-level base with it.

Thanks for following along Jeff!

Great start Bob, I'll be following along on your next adventure!

Thanks Greg!  Glad to have you following along.  You have the distinct advantage of being able to check out my progress in person from time to time so I have to keep it real.   :D

See you Saturday!

Always a pleasure to have you following along Tom!  I'll be getting back at this one hot and heavy next week after I finish preparing for our lighting clinic this weekend.   :D

Bob,

I agree with you on the Gator Foam. It is extremely sturdy and better yet very light.

Great start on the build. I'm "chomping at the bit" to get back to kit building but I need to get the ovalix finished and operational.

Hi Bob:

Looks like you are off to a good start. Everybody loves washing castings. Never done it in my life and have never had a problem. Just thought you might be interested in knowing that.

Karl.

Mark Dalrymple

I'll be tagging along for the ride, Bob.

One of my all time favourite FSM kits.  Looking forward to your wonderful tutorials.

Cheers, Mark.
