Morning all,

So sorry to read about Curt's mother being hospitalized yesterday.  The entire family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I got a book in the mail yesterday, "Reading Company Cabooses", which I thought I wasn't going to be able to get my hands on.  I had it on my X-Mas list last year but my son told me that it was no longer available, on Amazon, at the original price (roughly $50).  Sure enough, it was on Amazon at $181 last week with only one in stock.  I did a search for it on the web and found it, on sale for $25 with no shipping, at Ron's Books.  I see a used copy is available on Amazon today for $51.  I'll keep the new version for half the cost.  :P

Have a great one!

A BIG Thanks to all the folks who share their knowledge, and for giving me the inspiration to push the limits in this great hobby!

Good morning.

It is yet another frosty cold start to the day.  It can only get better from here, right?  ;D

Everyone have a safe day!

Morning, all.

Seven below again this morning, but we're supposed to get up to double digits!  I'm wearing shorts in anticipation.  I'm off today, as we're overstaffed and I volunteered to stay home, otherwise I'd have worked 6 out of 7 days.  Hope to get back to the project I've not worked on in over a week.

Bob,
Great score on the Reading caboose book! Can I borrow it for a few months? Pretty please?
Our gorgeous weather woman said on the 6PM news last night that it's been 16 days since we've seen green grass. And guess what? We've got more significant snow in the forecast. Oh joy!
The highlight of the day: as a non-political statement, the former Trump casino in Atlantic City is to be demolished on live TV this morning at 9 AM EST. The old Travelers Insurance Company building where I had my first office in Boston was demolished the same way. Blow out all the columns on the first floor and you quickly have a big mass of useless concrete. Ah, progress.
Stay warm, all.
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

Have a safe and healthy day ya'll.

Morning all.  Ash Wednesday today with all that signifies.  Sunshine this morning, giving way to clouds later that bring the white stuff (as Chip earlier reported). While this severely bad stretch of weather all across the country is causing serious dislocation and danger, it (1) kills a lot of the bugs (so I'm told) and (2), comes in mid-February, not January.  Pitchers and catchers report today at Clearwater, so better days are not that far off.

Stay warm.  Hope everyone's lights stay on or come back on quickly.

Morning all!

Got a couple meetings today, but looking to capitalize on some downtime to visit the bench.

So sorry to read the news of Curt's mom yesterday. Sending strength.

I, too, was reminded how fragile life is when I received tragic news yesterday about my great cousin. She was feeling under the weather on Sunday but refused to go to hospital thinking she would just be a nuisance. On Monday, upon her husbands insistence, she was taken to the ER where she was quickly put into an induced coma because of multiple organ failure. Yesterday she died. Just like that.
Living a full life two days before and then... this. Whole family are shocked and saddened — and it's not COVID related.

Life is so precious. Enjoy each and every day. Never go to sleep angry. Wake up full of dreams.
