Rick

Good morning everyone.

Mitchell, OR weather: Areas of frost before 7am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 65.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
I looked up what a traditional breakfast was on the Oregon trail and this is what I found: Bacon and biscuits were common. Pancakes, beans and oatmeal were also options.

Jerry, maybe today will be a good day to start a thread.

Philip, hope the wife and you enjoyed your anniversary.

Mike, I never liked doing decals.

Karl, how's the station coming along and hope the sneezing has stopped.

Greg, what are you reading?

Ron, I figured it would be much too far to drive.
Interesting qualifying results again yesterday.

Curt, safe travels and enjoy the vacation.

Larry, ACLTom, TomO, Dale, Dave, James and anyone else looking in, hope you are all well.

Hiked 820' up to the top of the hills overlooking the Cottonwood canyon campsite and the John Day River.
Afterward I packed up and followed my friend south.
Stopped along the way in Condon for coffee and then stopped again in Fossil where Anne Marie bought some supples.
Then it was off to Painted Hills for some more hiking.
Lastly drove to a brand new campsite in Priest Hole.
The fire ring here hasn't even been used yet.
Today is a much needed rest day.

View from the top looking down into Cottonwood Canyon and the John Day River.

Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast; bacon & biscuits works for me.
Sounds like you're a busy guy having a great time. Enjoy the rest and thanks
for another beautiful photo.

What's everyone up to today?

It's 40 with a high of 55 in New York; maybe some sun later. Started working on the tree
trunks yesterday and put down the first layer of scenery material. Today work will continue
on the trees and see what I can come up with.

Enjoy your day!!!! Be well and stay safe.

Good morning, Rick, Larry and later arrivals.  Nice photo, Rick. The closest I've come to Mitchell was when Mieke and I drove Rt. 26 past Mt. Hood and Rt. 97 south through Bend on our way to Crater Lake.

I haven't spent any tourist time in Oregon.  I'm not sure why, I guess it's just lack of opportunity.  I did have a trip to Portland (when I got to Powell's Books...)   So it's fun to see these photos.  Crater Lake would be at the top of my list of places to see.

I won't get much done today, we have a mid afternoon concert (and beforehand I have to go to the store and buy more canned dog food, I ran out last night and the one dog who gets that is Not Happy.  Fortunately, with food all is forgiven...)

They're dropping off a dumpster today to start replacing the roof first thing tomorrow.

Good morning Rick, Larry, ACLTom, James, Dave and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick.  Yes the qualifying was interesting, should be an interesting race today.  Enjoy your day relaxing.

Larry, have fun with the scenery work.

ACLTom, we all have those days in the layout room, hopefully today will be more productive.

James, enjoy your day.

Dave, enjoy the concert.

Karl, hope the station building is going well.

Philip, belated Happy Anniversary.

Mike, back in the day when I modeled in N scale I built a lot of building and rolling stock in styrene I never had a need for using wood in modeling.  I did a few craftsman wood kit in N scale but preferred styrene.  When I switched to On30 I started building more in wood and found that I really like the medium and is mow my preferred building material of choice.

Currently 51F and sunny here and I've been busy.  Grocery run is done and the second load of wash is on.  Next up is to watch the race and maybe hit the beach id the weather warms up enough.  If not there could be bench time in the near future.

Have a great day everyone.

Grey and light rain in MI this morning, 460 headed to ~600

Ended up at a train show in Grand Rapids yesterday, lot of those folks reeeeally love their $tuff. Added an athearn pulpwood car to the fleet.  Saw a couple old friends, one is "downsizing" ie: taking down his layout, he's one of those taking a lot back home. There is very little I need, so it wasn't a big disappointment not to find much.

After the train show I took the Doll to a "stuff" store on the far NW side of GR, then ate at a greasy spoon then headed home.  Once home sat on the deck in the sun and got hit by a bunch of "Zs" and almost did over heat... :-*

Little progress made on projects. Here is the station project, small rough area project.  No palaces, back country po-folk territory.

  Good afternoon folks,

Rick, thanks for opening, coffee and brunch.  Wishing you a most restful day.

Paul Bunyan, I mean Larry, good luck with the scenery.

TomACL, sometimes a little to show for it day is the best.

James, hope you have a terrific day.

Dave, good luck with the roof, that will be noisy.

Ron, the beach sounds like a nice retreat.

Karl, a train show sounds like fun, even if you don't bring a load home.  Have fun with the station.

Jerry, good luck with the siding choice.

Gergory, hope you are relaxing after the bookkeeping and not before.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's another bright day, but it started cold at 36F, but it's headed to 73F.  I worked on the tank and flat cars this morning.  Photos to be posted in a bit.  The Braves game is on soon, so that will eat most of the afternoon.

Have fun,
mike

Rick

Good morning everyone.

Priest Hole weather: Sunny, with a high near 75.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Omelette station is set up and have your imagination run wild with what to fill it with.

Mike, great job on those two cars.

Greg, sounds like an interesting book.

Jerry, decided on siding yet?

Karl, congratulations on the new pulpwood car and have fun building the station.

Ron, good day for McLaren and horrible day for RB.

Dave, Oregon is well worth traversing and Crater Lake will be sen eventually.

James, 26 runs right through Mitchell.

ACLTom, with all the progress you do make in the shed one day of little progress isn't anything to worry about.

Larry, the scenery you started looks good.
Are you going to blend in the mound at the track end more?

Philip, still tired from celebrating your anniversary.  ;)  ;D

TomO, how are you?

Dale, your update looks good.

Spent a relaxing day at camp yesterday.
More exploring today.
John Day Fossil Bed Museum and Blue Basin Overlook Trail are planned for today.
There was a mudslide at the trail not long ago and hope that it's cleaned up.
