Good morning Philip, TomO, Rick and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee Philip, take it easy with the 1:1 stuff.

TomO, except for the switches, the op session sounds like it was a success.

Rick, interesting benches, I need one in my back yard. ;D

Currently 73F and cloudy with no rain in the forecast.  Managed some bench time last night and added the lights to the light boxes for the second building.  Just need to install it and then its off to the third building.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning,

Philip thanks for the coffee and doughnuts. Watch the lower back with all
that bending over.

Tom O thanks for the 2nd coffee. That's a good amount of steps.

Rick you're right that diesel still looks usable. The 1:1 stuff is done for now
until the rain stops in a few days.

Ron sounds like you're making some good modeling progress; enjoy.

What's the plan for the day.

It's 64 with a high of 69 with on & off rain. Took Mr.B to the Vets yesterday to get checked.
The good news is his weight's the same which means his thyroid is working as it should. His entire
underbelly had all fur knots being a long haired cat. They shaved his entire underside to get rid
of the fur knots so he should be more comfortable. There was enough fur on the table when they
finished to make a coat out of. Not sure what's happening today.

Have an enjoyable day!! Be well and stay safe.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Philip.

Thanks for the second breakfast TomO.

Another restless night but not from illness. Today I have vacuumed the floors and steamed them so I'm out of gas so to speak.

Yesterday I did get to the train room for about an hour working on details inside the hoist house. It felt good after so long.

Rick interesting photos. I bet the kids love those benches.

TomO it sounds like things went well with the layout yesterday.

Larry glad the vet visit went well.

Not much going on this way today.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast and drinks Philip and TomO.

Rick, Thanks for the photos and glad you and Star had a great hike.

Rick, I got some matte medium. My plan (#9 on the list) is to update the scenery around Eaton's Curve. I have Scenic Express matt medium on order which is the brand I prefer. The small bottle I got is Woodland Scenics, not sure how it will work.

I spent most of the day yesterday cutting and laying carpet tiles on the east side floor of the train shed. It is a continuation of one item (#1) on my list. I want to get this one finished and checked off.  While moving some Masonite to lay the tiles, I came upon a stash of great goodies I forgot I had. I'll show photos on the A&S RR build thread later this afternoon.

I'm taking Pam to our favorite Italian Restaurant in Winter Garden today at 3PM for a late lunch/early dinner. The way she cares for her 97 years old Mom is just the very least I can do to get her out and away from the house as often as I can.

Have a safe, happy and healthy day everyone.

Morning everyone

Philip thanks for the coffee.
And Tom the second cup and breakfast.

Nice pictures Rick.  I'm beginning to think you really like Oregon.

Ron are we getting pictures soon?

Larry glad Mr. B is okay.  Maybe you could make fur coats for the little people on the RR!! ;D

Curt sounds like your feeling a little better.

Tom looking forward to seeing the hidden stash.
Your a good man taking Pam out for a lunch/dinner brreak.

Weather in South Jersey is rain 61.
Might be a good day to model.
Izzy did fine at the the Vets.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Seems to me the problem with those wheelset-benches would be moving it into location....  :P

Quote from: GPdemayo on May 13, 2025, 05:37:48 PMNice day, but a bit cloudy. The a/c guy found a new compressor for the old a/c system and will put it in tomorrow, at substantial savings, to hold me over till I have everything ready for a whole new system. Big .....YEAH.  ;D

Y'all have a great one.....
Man, that's a Really Big Deal!  We found the hard way that touching an A/C system more than a couple years old would entail pretty much replacing the whole enchilada because of the laws governing refrigerants.  Your A/C guy sounds like a real keeper for hunting down that part.

dave

I'm happy with his work and fees over the last couple of years, so yes, he is a keeper. Unfortunately, all my old subs are retired or dead, so I've been slowly looking companies that can do the work to the standards I set.

In todays market, any builder will tell you  what a problem that has become. And don't get me started on the labor pool.....the kids coming up today expect to start at the top without putting in the work to get there.....amazing attitudes. Pegi and I are extremely grateful that we don't have to hire any employees at this stage of the game.

Good morning folks,

Philip, thanks for the coffee.  Good luck with the masonry.

TomO, thanks for the second cup and breakfast.  Good luck with the turnouts.

Rick, your venue looks like a lot of fun. I'm still working on the tower base.

Ron, congrats on the lightbox completion.

Larry, good news about Mr. B's health.

Curt, glad you made it to the train room and worked on hoist house details.

TomACL, it's always fun to find a stash.  Nice job taking care of Pam.

Jerry, hope you made it to the bench.

Dave, howdy.

Gregory, good luck with your contractor quest.

How is the rest of the gang?

It's a hazy day but warming, 82F. This morning, I took Sweetie to the spa, washed the car, made a lodge deposit at the bank, and gave our daughter chicken noodle soup. She just got a shingles shot, and it made her sick, with fever and chills. Hopefully the soup will help.

Work continues upstairs.  I am switching between track and 3D, so nothing is fast.

Have fun,
mike

Good afternoon. I received 3 on/off flat handled miniature toggles from my email this morning I sent to the local weathering client list. My local (40 miles away) intermodal guy asked how many I wanted. Told him 2 he sent his daughter over with 3 and would not take payment or a weathering credit.

I need to install them, maybe tonight if I bring my IPadPro into the train room and put the NHL games on so I can check them every few minutes or so. Right now it's just the grandson and me and 2 of his buddies. They are racing on the slot car track.

Enjoy the evening

Someone else can open with a post. I tried to and got 3 I'm not a robot screens then 2 picture selections followed by a 403 error. Of course my post disappeared. :-X

Morning Gents,

Curt sorry to hear the forum wasn't cooperating this morning.

The morning beverages are all set. Breakfast is stacks of blueberry pancakes, butter, syrup,
crispy bacon and/or pan sausages.

What's going on today.

It's 61 with a high of 71 in New York and looks like "on again off again rain". This is
the first day this week I don't have to go anywhere but it does look like Larry's Beauty
Shop will be in full swing this afternoon the boss said. Started working on rafters for the
Wheel Wright building so I'll be messing with that on and off today; first time I've been
at the bench in over a week.

Have an enjoyable day!! Be well and stay safe.

TomO/Tloc

Sorry about the forum troubles this morning Curt. Hope you and the Mrs are feeling better. Thanks Larry for opening

Good morning from a nice start to the day in So. central Wisconsin. The WeatherChannel app says it's heavy fog. Must be elsewhere as it wasn't here for the 5:30 walk and even the radar wasn't showing it. It's still not around. 62f degrees now and a guess of 88 later. In between we have severe wind, tornado and hail warnings already posted for this afternoon. Madison is on the very southern tip of the storm rolling through. So it most likely will miss us and hopefully so.

We will see Clue at the theater this evening. The SIL and Daughter saw it Tuesday and loved it

I installed the 3 on/off miniature toggle switches yesterday. 2 on the cold storage siding and 1 in the engine ready track. Thankfully that gave me a distraction from the 1st hockey game. I had grabbed my IPadPro to watch the hockey games and I rarely do that for the train room. That Toronto/Florida game if the Leafs lose this series that should get Matthews traded. The overall lack of effort and the goaltending by Toronto was pathetic. Made worst since it was a home game. I told the SIL (big leaf fan) before the 1st series if the Leafs won in 5 games against Ottawa they'd beat the next team. If it would take 6 or more to beat Ottawa the next series (this one) they'd probably lose. It really seemed like they didn't care in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Sad but they still have a chance as game six is Friday but in Florida. I think Florida rolls again. The 2nd game in Vegas was a o-o thriller and was won by Edmonton over Las Vegas in Overtime. That was playoff hockey. Non stop action with goaltenders playing lights out and nonstop efforts by both teams. I still think Edmonton wins the Cup but their top guys need to start scoring. I love hockey...

The wedding on 5/24 in Pasadena has become a money pit. We lost the Airbnb we booked in January last week. We knew it was possible because of the LA fires. One of the victims families was renting it long term but still it was rented to us for 8 days! I have a feeling of wanting to extract some revenge but those fires...

Anyway, we will stay 2 days longer in Vegas at my brothers before the wedding now flying in on Friday morning. The girls found 3 rooms at a Pasadena hotel for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. As much for those 3 nights as the AirBnB cost for 8 days.. I was unaware until yesterday this is the Memorial Day weekend.

I have 2 turnouts remaining to fix and while I don't want to I should get them fixed today and tomorrow. I called 2 LHS and neither has ME #6's in code 83. I do have 2 #10's but then I have to rip up some track and realign it. I'm not sure that's worth it.

Stay safe, cool and dry
TomO

Rick

Good morning everyone.

Oregon weather: A 20 percent chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 66.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Glad you've found some bench time.

Curt, hope you can post later and I haven't run into that issue here yet.

TomO, toggles installed?

Mike, hope your daughter's feeling better.

Greg, work ethics just aren't what they used to be.

Dave. I'm sure a good sized crane was used.

Jerry, I like all the western states.
I could spend months in each of them.

ACLTom, hope Pam and you had a great dinner.

Ron, more lights installed yesterday?

Karl, hope you are well.

Philip, what's new?

Dale, all good in CO?

A very lazy day yesterday.
Wasn't motivated to do much of anything.
Back to town this morning for a gym visit.
Then a short drive to find a place to stay that's closer to a trail I want to do on Friday.

Sunset at Thor's Well.

Have a great day everyone.

Philip

Morning Curt, Larry, Tom, Rick, and incoming crew. Coffee is good Larry.

More concrete work today once I muster up strength. Me and young Phil (the one that is young and able) worked all day and finished a small area. Plenty of leveling and scraping prep work. The walk maker forms are 2x2. More of the same today. Good thing we are not a business as we would starve. Suppose to be 87 today, 100 in the greenhouse. Project is looking good.

Have a great day folks!

Philip

Not much modeling for me today.  Morning appointment with the urologist (https://davebarry.substack.com/p/tariffs ), afternoon at the dentist.  Cloudy day, muggy, chance of showers all day, and pretty much through the weekend.
