Morning Gents,

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast this am. Watch the heat and stay hydrated. Looking forward to you sharing the KIR build when you get to it.

What's happening in your world.

It's 52 on the back porch with a high of 70 in New York. The Contractor installed the new roof over the front porch yesterday and will be back today to finish up. Sadly my front lawn got torn up some but there's enough dirt left over so that's repairable. Managed a little bench time yesterday and maybe more today. Haircut later this am; that'll take all of 15 minutes.

Have an enjoyable day!!! Be well and stay safe.

Good morning folks,

Curt, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast. Good luck with the platform assembly.

Larry, too bad about the lawn. Good luck with the repair.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a beautiful morning in the Piedmont.  High is forecast for 82°F.

I cleaned the espresso machine this morning; it was time. I woke up at 4 this morning.  I'm sure I'll be dragging later. A haircut is on the agenda, which won't take as long as Larry's cut.

Layout work progresses.  I updated the thread promising photos today, so that is on the agenda.

Have fun,
mike

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt, much appreciated.

I don't feel like doing "nuttin" today. Pam and I will make a trip to the used book store later. I'll see what W. Johnstone books I haven't read are on the shelves. Probably grab lunch out as well.

Maybe update the layout thread later this afternoon.

Have a safe and healthy day everyone.

8) Bright sun, temp just out of the 40s.  CAVU and calm.  It feels like cider and donuts weather.  :-* Sadly, I have neither.

PT shall continue, making progress on their way of figgerin' adding a couple new 'moves' into the routine, I'll restock my Tylenol the next time in town.

I pulled the Deere out, the dealer is doing a recall on the brakes, a cast pivot piece in the mechanism is prone to break so they're replacing it.  New mowing blades and service as well. $$$ i'm sure ::)

A couple projects around to do today.  A run for gas for the mowing machine as well as fill the truck.  Our gas is up $.50 to $3.50 from ~$3 it's been at.  Holiday weekend coming time to get the procotologic prices in place.  My only travel will be to Keeney's for OPS on Saturday.

I see the Crapper Barrel is reverting to the old logo.  Any of the current 'new image' signs will be collector's item$, probably not in our life times.

Enuf fluff from here.  Be well all.

Good morning Curt, Larry, Mike, ACLTom, Karl and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, hope your KIR kit arrives sooner that expected.  ;D  I'm also looking forward to the build.

Larry, It must be haircut day, as I'll be getting one this evening.  Hope the yard isn't torn up too much.

Mike, If you start dragging your feet later today, you could always make yourself an espresso.

Tom, enjoy going through the books, hope you find a couple of treasures.

Karl, I see that it didn't take long for Cracker Barrel to see the light5, enjoy your day.

It currently 15c (59f) and overcast with rain in the forecast this afternoon.  No modeling last night as I've been busy doing other stuff.  We shall see what tonight brings.

Have a great day everyone.

With the hair, or 2, Mike and I have I'm sure the barber could make $200/hr at the rate mine works. Shut her blathering off  :-X and probably $300 :o  that puts a whole new meaning to getting clipped

Quote from: TomO/Tloc on August 26, 2025, 02:23:41 AMToday went according to the plan I was unaware of. I went down to The Original Whistle stop. I walked the 2 miles there but Ubered back. The sun was screaming brightly in the sky. The plan was a few hours at my sisters, walk back to the hotel room for a couple hours and walk back. Visited with my sister and then dinner with the niece, her hubby and us. Decent meal and that is enough said on the meal. Went back to my sister's and about 45 minutes ago walked back. There were a few homeless on Colorado Blvd. the home street for the Rose Bowl parade. But it was a nice walk back.
Wow, It's been over 50 years since I went to the Original Whistle Stop.  I recall that it was on Colorado St (I might be wrong). They had a mountainous layout when you walked through the door; plus behind that, there was cabinets full of HO Brass engines. Nice store. I went there one day and Gary Colman was there and he made sure everyone knew that "Gary Colman" was there...loud and rude!...but he had money to spend so they showed him the red carpet treatment.  I am surprised that the Whistle Stop is still there

The store is on Colorado Blvd the route of the Rose Bowl Parade. The store really has not changed except of course Coleman is no longer there

Pretty much the same setup with the layout to the right of the doorway and brass display cabinets are on the walls behind the layout.
The book section and the brass are the eye candy for me. Back in May the son in law drove me over and came in the store. He was fixated by that layout the whole time I was buying books

Good evening gentle folk! However it's 4:06pm in Makena, Maui, Ha.and a very pleasant 83f degrees.

Played golf with the brother this morning and going out for dinner at 7.

Before we left Pasadena yesterday Terry needed books. So while I have the Original Whistle Stop a couple miles east on Colorado Blvd. Terry goes to Vroman's Bookstore a 1/2 mile to the west. Got in the car and told the guy to head to the bookstore. She had pre-ordered so it wasn't bad. Normally when Terry hits a bookstore it's a good multiple hour trip. My sister who has Parkinson's handled the flight very well.

I opened the bar, stacked the fire sticks by the firepit but I didn't light them. The popcorn and shaker is there but if lazy put 90 seconds on the microwave, not 78 or 95 seconds but 90 per the household popcorn expert, my wife! I'm having a diet Dr Pepper but being vitural we have access to anything.

What trip do Terry and I ever go on without an adjustment?

Well! My brother needs his left hip replaced and while not the technical, medical BS name, he has cancer in the left hip. The right hip was replaced in June ( non cancerous) and we stayed in Las Vegas with him during that recovery. He and I are flying tomorrow late afternoon 10 hours to Mexico City with all his medical records, X-rays  and MRi's. He is consulting with a Doctor who specializes in this. From there he and I will go to either Vegas for the surgery or Scottsdales depending what this guy says. He will not do the surgery in Mexico City. Still kind of floored by this one as I had no clue until dinner last night.

It's always something

Good morning folks,

Coffee's on.  Assorted beverages are in the fridge.  Breakfast today is a fiesta omelet with cheese, onions, tomatoes, bell peppers and jalapenos.  Biscuits and sawmill gravy, and assorted fruit complete the meal.

TomACL, how was the bookstore?

Karl, wishing you a fun time at Andy's.

Ron, hope you made it to the bench.

Jerry, good luck with the room cleanup.

Dave, isn't that the truth?

TomO, well wishes to your brother.

How is the rest of the crew?

I can't see outside, but the weather is probably cloudy with a forecast of 82°F.  I didn't make it to the barber yesterday.  I caught a bug...  I laid out the structures on the layout to start getting a final location for them. Not sure what the day holds in store.

Have fun,
mike

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Mike. I hope you feel better today.

It's not looking good for Badger, he has quit eating for 2 days. I did get him to eat some bell pepper (treat) this morning, but he left some in his bowl. He also seems to be very low energy. :-\

Yesterday I recieved the KIR kit. I looked through it but I have a bunch of reading to do before I start on it. I figure to start Sunday or Monday.

I wonder when Rick and Star will be back?

I hope everyone has a good day.

Cool and grey in mid-Michigan this morning.  Rain is in the area.  Doc appt at 11.

Having issues with the WiFi frequency of the Starlink no wanting to fire up the printers.  Our "Geek Squad" son in law is coming over this morning to see if he can help.  I had the whole system FUBAR'd yesterday.

PT folks signed me up for another round, say progress is going well.

More later?  Not sure on today.

Rough news on the bro, TomO.  Wish him the best.  Today is my 'litle' brother's 73rd I believe.  HE was going thru Protate "C" this time last year.

Stay safe all.
