Good morning from Wisconsin. I have some ideas for the balance of the day but we'll see how everything unfolds. 71f degrees now and 75 later. More of the same tomorrow and then the temperatures should remain only in the mid 60's for the high until next Sunday. The cool down may have begun

Rick, we did not go to the Taste of Madison. The grandson had 2 hot dogs, one before the game one during and a large soda plus a small popcorn. We did stop on the way home at a higher end sort of fast service chicken only place called Butterbird on campus after the terrible beating Texas applied to the Badger women volleyball team. It was fine, we crossed it off the list of places to return though. Next chicken place for the grandson and me is either Raising Canes or Dave's Hot Chicken, both are national chains. Both are highly recommended by the son in law. Terry and I visited a Raising Canes on a trip to Texas in 2024 somewhere in Iowa. It was great and Madison has had one about a year so we and the grandson will try it. Good crispy fried chicken is hard to find in the Madison area. Wings are easy to find but not breasts or other pieces.

Quote from: Jim Donovan on September 01, 2025, 11:41:28 AMGood Morning;

Tom(O) sorry you went through that, they say the pendulum swings one way and then the other, sure would be nice to just have it sit in the middle where the vast majority live for a change. During the 40 years of my business travels overseas the hardest country to get into was the US when flying. Missed a lot of domestic connections because of it. One time I sat for two hours because the latest toy customs had bought said my laptop computer was a bomb.

Love the pictures but I don't think I'd want to walk over that bridge with that many people. Star looks great and enjoying the walk.

We don't have much planned for today so I will work on some layout projects and perhaps paint some detail castings. Curt thanks for the coffee, hope everyone has a great Labor Day. Photo of the day is a picture of a lake my family had a cabin on when I was a kid. I took this photo8143B9A4-B74E-4A79-BDAE-D57C592A617A_1_105_c.jpeg around labor day a few years back. Honeoye Lake in NY.

Jim

Jim I truly understand the concern for security but the storm trooper aspect with masks was very disturbing to me. I have flown all over the world in my business travel days and I thought Israel was understandably the toughest screening I ever went through. South Korea was a close second as they even asked me to turn my laptop on so they could screen it! At my own border though!!! Then not to have my or Terry's passport even checked. We had already in Vancouver been screened by US Customs officers in the train station including the same machines TSA uses to screen at the airport. Oh well, it's now a different world

A lot of the security checks are just "security theater".  If you want to see real security, try getting on an El Al flight.  My friend who was the PM for Army Tactical Vehicles (HUMVEE, etc) went to Israel to look at some vehicle blast protection stuff they were doing.  He witnessed blast testing.  On the way back home, he had an IDF escort to explain to airport security guys why their equipment 'smelled' explosives in his luggage, from the blast residue on his uniform.

Ron meant to ask you what did you think of the F1 race?  I thought it was a pretty good one.

Good morning everyone.

Going to be sunny and a high of 89 here at the park.

Coffee is ready and the sodas and OJ are in the fridge.
An assortment of muffins are out on the counter to enjoy with your beverage.

I'm up extremely early again and that could only mean one thing.
Yup, going on another hike and Star is going with me.

Keeping it short today because I need to get to the trailhead early because it's a popular hike and I want to make sure I get a parking spot.

Have a great day everyone.

Larry C

Morning Gents,

Rick thanks for the coffee and muffins this morning. Have a safe hike and enjoy; both you and Star.

What's going on in your world?

It's going to be a sunny 52 with a high of 78 in New York. The Fair's done and the kiddos go back to school tomorrow so I guess Summer's pretty much over. My Contractor should be here today and maybe finish up the new front porch; another week the steel roofing should be here for the back roof redo. Massive grocery shopping's on tap for today. Bench time????

Have an enjoyable day!!! Be well and stay safe.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. I hope you and Star enjoy the hike.

Started out the day with a walk at 75F, humid but with an occasional light breeze. Yesterday I worked on the kit for several hours mainly working on the roof panels and started painting the details. Son made it home from DragonCon in Atlanta.

Today after chores I'll continue painting detail parts. I also plan to do an build thread update later.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Larry sounds like your going to be spending a lot of money in the coming days.

Curt looking forward to the update.

Weather in South Jersey/59.  Later on 72.
We hoping to get a few more beach days in before the summer ends.
Not sure what today will bring.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Another nice day on tap for SE NH.  It got down to 54 last night, heading to 77.  There'll be a bit of a 'heat wave' the end of the week, 82 predicted for Saturday.  With the forge in place, and waiting for the blacksmith figure, I'll probably take a break from the machine shop construction and do a pick-up/put-away cycle.  Plus there's some stuff I need to do in the yard.  Yesterday a neighbor rented a lawn aerator machine, I borrowed it and ran it over the section of the yard where even the crabgrass doesn't grow well.  I'll get some topsoil and grass seed, and see if that helps.

610 it says down in the lower rh corner of the screen.  Slow rise this morning.

Folks around saw the Northren lights last night but I went out and saw none.  It seemed a little hazy.  The Doll had allergy issues all day and we ended up with the a/c running.  Just when the weather is right for fresh air the 'fresh' is full of mean and nasty stuff so we keep in our cloistered house.

The Bridge walk is 5 miles from Mac-City to St. Ignace the side my screen shot was from. (N)

I did a fair bit outside yesterday, testing the back.  A bit tight this morning.  Will take it easier today.  Burned a huge pile of yard debris from a couple years of collecting.

Bench time? Hmm....I think I remember how to do that.  ::)

Be well all, enjoy the hike, Rick and Star.

Good morning Rick, Larry, Curt, Jerry, ACLTom, Dave, Karl and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and muffins Rick, enjoy your hike with Star.

Larry, hope the bank account is healthy ;D   Sounds like a few expensive bill will be due soon.

Curt, looking forward to the update.

Jerry, enjoy the beach if you mate it there, I bet it is a lot quieter now that the kids are back in school. As for the F1 race at least it was interesting with a couple of surprises.

ACLTom, enjoy the bowling today and lunch later.

Dave, Sounds like you have great progress on the machine shop lately.

Karl, Hope you didn't test the back too much yesterday.

So, it's currently 18c (f) and cloudy so it's shaping up to be another nice day.

Yesterday was busy with the building on the new shed floor and assembling the shed kit.  By the time the grandson and I finished it was 7:30 PM  :o  While the shed went together well, there were a lot of parts.  After we were done for the day I had a bite to eat, showered and went to the modeling room where I did a bit more work on the pile bents.  The 4 bents are built with have the cross bracing done.  Tonight's plan is to add the rest of the cross bracing.  Once that is done, it will be tine to add all the NBW castings. Oh joy.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast. I hope your hike was fantastic.

Larry, congrats on getting the porches completed before the weather cools.

Curt, I heard DragonCon was a good one, glad your son returned safely. Looking forward to your roofing and details photos.

Jerry, good to hear the beach doesn't close after Labor Day weekend.  ;)

TomACL, good luck on the lanes.  Enjoy the lunch, too.

Dave, good luck with the lawn work.

Karl, thanks for the bird photo.  Maybe we have a mild winter in store since they are still up there.  They disappear in Georgia in October.

Ron, I'm sure the pier will look terrific, but I do not envy the NBW work.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a hazy morning with a forecast of 81F.  The weekend was fantastic.  We enjoyed the lake and visiting with our daughter and SIL.

Most of my lodge castings came out well, but a couple should have had more tilt before supporting.  I'll probably redo them.  The FDM printer is making an ultrasound cleaner small parts basket.  I had one years ago, but it took a vacation...

Have fun,
mike

Good afternoon from Wisconsin. This should be the last dry day in the 70's. Cool starts tomorrow with lows 60's the high and rain starts overnight. No relief on the rain until Saturday per the guessing WeatherChannel app.

Text from the wife telling me to thaw out the brats, boil in beer and grill them. Then freeze them after they cool down from the grill. Then head to the grocery store and buy 4 more packages and freeze them as they are on sale!

The local schools started for 1st graders, 6th graders and 1st year high schoolers. The grandson is in. 6th and the granddaughter is a freshman. Neither looked thrilled in the 1st day of school pictures.

The grandson asked me yesterday to be around Saturday for the 3rd race event on the slot track. His mom and dad are heading to campus for the Badger football game so I and 2 other granddads and 2 mom's will be the adults. I was there for the 1st one and the 2nd was while we were traveling. They decided after the 1st race 24 participants is enough so that's how many are coming this Saturday. This will be the last race for awhile with soccer games starting and soon hockey. They have school days off in October that they are thinking about but need to talk to some grandparents as the parents are working those days. The 3 buddies and 1 buddette are fairly well organized after the 1st 2 races and figured they only needed the 3 granddads but the g/son's mother said a minimum of 5 adults or no racing. The daughter figures there would be more kids wanting to race in October as race day would be free $$$ kid sitting for some working parents with single kids!  The participants for the October races will be raised to 36 maximum. They would open the track at 8, races at 9, lunch at noon, races again from 1 to 3:30 or basically the school day hours for the junior high students. They have put some thought into this.

Enjoy the day
TomO
