Glad to hear Rick is doing better (although I do worry about a hike into the boonies in case he has a relapse...)

Nothing on the plate today, so I should get back to the train shop in a bit.

Dull grey with a flake or two falling, my watch said it was 9o outside.  It will go to the 20s later, maybe.  Headed to 30 sometime this week but briefly.

I managed to move the track and then patched the open areas I had cut.  I also added 1 foot to the layout base before I started the track change.  Now, I have to figure out the land mass under the trestle.  :( I prefer plaster cloth over a webbing of strips of cardboard, made from cut up priority mail boxes.  Then cover that with Sculptamold.  2-3 weeks of that if I get at it.

The Doll went for an eye exam to get new glasses yesterday and ended up with a referral for cataract surgery.  That ought to ball up 6 weeks of time.  She's been spending a lot of time researching genealogical mysteries on the computer and complaining of head aches.  :'( I hope it helps.  My eyes are much better after I had that done last year around this time.  Not perfect but much less use of glasses.  Reading especially is better for me.  Not needing them all the time, leads to me 'losing' them frequently because they are not on my face.  The close up lower bifocal area was poorly placed on my current pair so I rarely use that feature, just the optivisor.

Rick, glad you are able to continue the trek Westward.  I hope it warms up...for all of us.

TomO there sure are lots of ways to lose track of online time.  Facebook seems totally without merit from what I hear from the Doll.  She marvels at the total amount of self discipline of comments folks put out there.  She does stay out of the fray after suffering anguish over political stuff in recent years.  That stuff breads viral hatred I can not believe.

Looking forward to making some progress on the layout.  I do have an Rx to retrieve later.  Just to get the reminder text and phone messages to stop.  :o

That' all I've got for now.  Everyone enjoy the day.

Good afternoon everyone,

It's getting late so I put on a fresh pot of coffee.

Current temperature is -7c (19f) and cloudy.  Found out last night that my Aunt died as she lost her fight with cancer, she was 96 so she lived a great life.  No modeling happened last night but I did spent time cataloguing my railroad supplies.  To do this I made a database in Microsoft Access.  The reason for this it threefold, 1 - seeing what I have, 2 - Insurance purposes, and 3 - to help with disposing my collection.  I'm beginning to see I have more than I thought.

Have a great day everyone.

Good afternoon, all. I've spent much of the morning researching; I updated my thread about online resources for scratchbuilding structures that still stand. Now it's time to shut off the confuser and do some actual modeling.

Afternoon all.

Ron, very sorry to hear of your Aunt's passing. Time will heal the sorrow but time will never take the memories.

I was hear just after breakfast was served and then ran errands with Pam. Forgot to check back in.

Hope all are having a happy day.

Morning all. I have a lengthy commute in a couple of minutes.

Sorry for your loss Ron. Prayers for your family.

Rick

Good morning everyone.

Currently 52 in Phoenix, sun then clouds with a high of 78 later.

I see Mike is here and hope he's preparing one of his delicious breakfasts for us.
Mike, any more work on the sheriff's office and what's next once it's done?

Philip, safe travels.

ACLTom, I guess more work on the tower today?

James, I've been enjoying your thread.

Ron, my condolences on the passing of your aunt.

Karl, all the best to Vicki on her upcoming procedure.

Dave, I appreciate your concern but I'm fine and pain free.

TomO, being on line can have benefits.
It all depends on what you're looking at.
But it does steal time from getting things done in the 1:1.

Jerry, did you sit at the bench?

Jim, hope it was all good news at the skin doctor.

Larry, hope you got to enjoy your stay at home day.

Curt, any kit progress?

Ended up not hiking yesterday.
The van heater, not the Mercedes heater in the dash, started acting up.
Just by luck the only authorized repair shop for the heater is here in Mesa.
The part is still under warranty and I just have to pay for shipping and labor.
Part according to UPS is due to arrive at 10:30.
After that is done continuing west will happen.

Yesterday morning at my campsite outside of Payson, AZ.

Have a great day everyone.

Rick

I see Mike didn't make breakfast.
No problem.

Coffee, sodas, OJ and hot chocolate are ready.
Since I'm in Arizona a Mexican based breakfast today.
Breakfast burritos filled with scrambled eggs, chorizo, cheddar cheese and salsa are waiting on the counter for you.

ACL1504

Morning all,

Rick, the breakfast burrito is perfect along with the hot chocolate. Nice sunrise photo.

Yes, I'll be working on the tower today and updating the thread.

Philip, have a safe commute.

Not much else going on from here.

Have a safe and healthy day everyone.

"Breakfast Burritos with chorizo" reminds me of Louis/Desert Drover, who didn't make the transition from Railroad-Line.  I hope he's doing well.

Today's task is the roof for the barn.  I need to decide between the kit shingles, which look like traditional asphalt or slates, or Bar Mills wood shingles.  I like the Bar Mills product for wood shingles, although I know others have gotten spectacular results with different products. That's pretty much the last step before the new foundation arrives.  I could start on the house, or do some scenery work on location.

Buenos Dias with the breakfast.

Heat wave here this morning, 20+ outside but snow is expected.

Watched a bunch of the NASCAR race from Winston-Salem last evening until FOX decided to switch the race over to FS2 >:( what a bunch of -DELETE- will certainly 'color' my NASCAR viewing back to near zero this year.

Layout efforts dragging along, today I'll get some done.  Hopefully.

Little left here, we do miss Luis in the mornings.

Good morning Philip, Rick, ACLTom, Dave, Karl and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, hope the heater repair goes well.

Philip, hope the commute is uneventful.

ACLTom, have fun working on the tower build.

Dave, your barn build is looking great.

Karl, hope a lot of progress is made on the layout modifications today.

First of I would like to thank everyone for the condolences regarding my aunt, it is very much appreciated.

Current temperature is -16c (3f) with blue skies, it's a great day.  No modeling last night as I got home from work later than usual and I didn't feel like it.  We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning folks,

I just peeked in earlier before I had to do a quick task for the lodge.  It's finished, so...

Philip, thanks for opening. Safe traveling.

Rick, thanks for the coffee and breakfast. It's perfect.

TomACL, good luck on the towers.

Dave, wood shingles might be best for your period.

Karl, congrats on the layout modification.  Are those trestles completed?

Ron, good luck getting to the bench.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's another overcast day and cold.  Warmer weather is headed our way I think.

Rick asked what's next.  I am thinking about building the post office.  I have it cut out on the laser, and need to paint and assemble it.  I'll add a few details like a post office box and signage. Haven't decided on shingle type.

Hope to finish the sheriff's office today.  I plan to finish the vines and paint the sheriff print.

Have fun,
mike
