Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt.

I started trimming the dead (winter damage) branches and raking leaves yesterday morning and didn't check in. When I was finished, I cleaned the work bench off for the next build. When I got to the computer yesterday is was around 5PM.

Taking Emee to the vet this morning for regular stuff - nails trimmed and hair cut. After that I'll clean the train room.

Not much else on my agenda today.

Have a happy day everyone and stay safe.

Since Rick is on vacation, I thought I'd provide some of my travel photos to add some color to this thread.  Machu Picchu:

Weather here is low clouds and 21, heading to 36 and sunny once the clouds burn off.  No German class today, but I have a PT appointment mid-day.  Otherwise, I'll be working on the farm house.

Good morning Curt, Larry, ACLTom, Dave and the rest of the crew that drops in early.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, I went to Costco last Friday so I feel your pain.

Larry, hope the 1:1 stuff goes well for you today.

ACLTom, sounds like you had a bust day yesterday,

Dave, Great Picture, hope the PT is not too painful.

Karl, the trestle is coming along great.

Current temperature is -10c (14f) and cloudy with a high of -1c (30f), supposed to be above freezing tomorrow.  After doing some chores and hanging some lights yesterday, I did make it to the bench and made more progress.  The Mrs likes the lights so much she wants mew to install a couple more.  :o  Guess what I'm doing today.  ;D  I should get back to the bench later this afternoon.  Next up is posting an update on my challenge build thread.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning folks,

Curt, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast. Happy Birthday to your Dad.

Larry, wow, glad you didn't get iced. Good luck with your 1:1 tasks.

TomACL, congrats on next build prep.

Dave, thanks for the photo.  Cool place.

James, good luck with the tax paperwork.

Jerry, hope the bench was fun.  BTW, Brook Benton sang that song.

Karl, nice little bridge. Good luck with the melting sneaux.

Ron, good luck lighting the Mrs. domain.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a bright morning at 48°F, headed to 68°F.  Probably raining the rest of the week.  Yesterday I continued work on the PO.  It was lots of fiddly work like painting windows, adding trim pieces, etc.  Hope to continue today.

Have fun,
mike

That was at the top of our bucket list, when the ISO standards committee I was on announced a meeting in Lima.  So my ticket was paid for by my company...    ;D   When visiting Cuzco, we looked at a group of people around a tour guide and realized it was group from my committee.  "Fancy meeting you here!"

Sort of frosty this morning but going to head into the above freezing range as the snow melts and sublimates away. The sap buckets are out in town and it's sugaring time in Michigan.

I'm at Ops at Keeney's awaiting train time for a local I'm called for shortly. We have a crew of over a dozen today.

Watched the race yesterday and tinkered with layout stuff.

Noted an old beater GP at the Archer Daniel elevator I passed this morning. Looks like a whipped dog.

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Started out the day with a walk at 53F going into the 70's today. Saturday we're actually supposed to make it to the mid 80's. :o It's way to early for that nonsense.

Yesterday Dad's window was fixed but he needs to replace his tires that are cracking (6 years old) so they are on order. Dad is on one of his senior field trips today. MOH hates making his birthday cake because he always has seafoam frosting. It's made from dark brown sugar on the stove top.

After animal chores I hope to finish up the individual Blue Sky walls. If so I'll do an update.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt. Dark brown sugar icing, sounds like it tastes terrible.

We have bowling at noon and then lunch with friends.

Hopefully a little bench time later this afternoon.

Karl, nice catch on the old GP. Looks perfectly weathered.

Have a happy day and stay safe everyone.

Good morning, Curt, Tom and late risers (or people out West).  The lower Merrimack Valley is under thick overcast and about freezing now, rising to mid 30s later with a chance of precipitation.  Feeling a little peeved just now by internet vendors who think they can sell me "half round brass wire" without giving length.  If all else fails, there's always Ali Express.

Proofreading and writing to do this morning, more work on the layout after lunch.

One problem was getting these iconic shots without all the other tourists (and their blankety-blank selfie sticks) in the way.  We really enjoyed Cambodia, I think Cambodians are the most friendly people in the world.

Today in SE NH, it's cloudy, chance of snow showers or even rain showers mid-day.  At noon we're going to a talk by a back surgeon, wife is considering surgery to see if it helps her pain.  There are definitely trade-offs with that!  Then I'll get back to the farmhouse.  Yesterday I painted the (1/16 square) corner pieces, so today I'll glue them into position.

Good morning Curt, ACLTom, James, Dave and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, hope you get enough done to post an update.

ACLTom, have fun bowling today and good luck.

James, hope the proof reading goes well and you get to the layout sooner rather than later.

Dave, another great photograph.

Karl, great shop of the GP unit, hope you had fun at the operating session.

Current temperature is 1c (33f), overcast with a high of 5c (41f) later today.  No modeling yesterday as I ended up doing 1:1 stuff for the Mrs and worked on other interests last night.  We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Have a great day everyone.

37o already this morning after going to 53o yesterday.  We've lost lots of snow. Lots.  Currently it is grey and there is talk of rain later in the day or overnight.

OPS went well, we had a full crew and ran plenty of trains.  I ran a couple of switching locals that I enjoy the best, using the Baldwin VO-1000 I've showed here before. I opened it up on return home yesterday as it has a light sound like a gear train related rattle.  I found a power wire from one of the trucks that could have been touching the flywheel.  I relocated it a slight bit and called it good.  We'll see how it goes from here the next session.  The only other thing I found was a bit of fuzz, dog hair, around one of the axles that was a bit greasy.

That's it from here.  Little good news around, the daughter's father in law is quite ill with "C" in the throat, diagnosed late as they kept checking a lower irritation and ignoring difficulty he was having swallowing.  Such a nice fellow, hoping the best.

Today I will try to get some layout or bench time in.  We'll see how that goes.

All I have, hoops later if the mood strikes, Sparty has not played well lately.
