Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Rick.

Dave, thanks for the information. All Civil War Battlefields are fascinating to me. I've spent many summers at Point Lookout (Lookout Mtn.) in Chattanooga, TN and Chickamauga. Recently I've been reading up on the Battle at Jenkin's Ferry in AK. The muddy, bloody scene from the movie Lincoln was filmed at the Jenkins Ferry battle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fEb1Xjj47U&t=25s

I was at the work bench yesterday morning when everything went south. I won't go into a long pontification of what the day was like. Here is a short compendium of what happened.

I was at the bench when Pam told me her SC 430 Lexus wouldn't start. The battery was dead. I paid Lexus $350.00 for a new battery 4 months ago. I called Lexus and they said bring it in and they'll check it. I jumped it off and took it in. They checked it and said I needed a new battery. Another $350.00, not on my watch. I showed them the paper work from September and got the new battery for $0. Three hours gone from my bench time.

We got home and got a call from the bank. Fraud alert on both of our debit cards. Not our charges, one from NY for $450 and one from NJ $425, so off to the Credit Union to get new cards issued and old ones cancelled. The charges were denied, so no money lost. Another 3 hours plus gone from the day. Can't use the new cards until today.

The end of my day yesterday.

Today is tax day with the tax man. That will probably ruin the day as well.

Hope everyone has a better day than we did yesterday.

Tom yesterday sounds painful. Sorry to hear about the banking stuff, it seems to happen all the time anymore.

8) Sun and fun in Michigan, 20s going to approach 50 :o .

Speaking of taxes, we got notice of assessment from the township on our place in da Yoop and another from the home base.   :-\ Nearly $30,000, between the two.  That's a reflection of the housing market and real estate sales and some crazy algorithm they use. I've made no visible changes or improvements other than maintenance.  ???  I sure wish the income would reflect that.  Mine seems to just barely cover the increase in what they take out for Medicare.  We did our taxes early in the month and the refunds were less than 10 days before they populated the bank account.

Similar credit card experience, Tom, about 6 weeks ago.

Spent much of the day with the bridge stuff.  Today, not sure.  A couple things liable to show up in the way.  We'll see.  Off to Keeney's tomorrow for ops. :D

Some snow coming back in tomorrow afternoon.  The roller coaster continues. :o

Be well all.

Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast.

Curr, careful up on the roof with the shingle chore.  ;)

Larry, wishing you a great Friday with Ellie.

Philip, nice set of figures.  I recently purchased a bunch for the station.  They are excellent.

Tom, what a crappy day. Good luck with the Tax man.

Karl, the bridge is looking good.

Ron, congrats on the shingles and purlins.  Hope it was a relaxing exercise.

Jerry, did you make it to the bench?

How is the rest of the crew?

It's an overcast morning, raining all night.  I mostly cleaned the workbench, did some organizing, and worked on the layout yesterday.  I have misplaced my blade coffee grinder that I use to grind dirt and debris.  I am about out of dirt and haven't decided what to do about it yet.  As I began planting structures, I decided to add lighting.  I'm out of lamps, so I ordered some clear resin to print lamps and lanterns.  I'll light them with tiny tiny LEDs.

Have fun,
mike

Morning crew. Bench time today. Working on my HOn30 rotary dumper.

I've got a nitpick to pick on this forum. It says I'm 75 today. Not true. My birthday is March 5th. Says so in the profile section. Seems like the forum software wants to make you older than I really am. I don't need the software help getting older. I'm doing fine on my own. <LOL>

Thank you for the attention to this matter.

We've been to a bunch of places that later showed up as sets for historical dramas or fantasies.  I'm sure this is one of them, it's the originally Moorish palace (AljaferĂa) in Zaragoza, Spain:
image.jpeg
Zaragoza is a bit off the usual tourist track in Spain, and that's too bad.  It's a city with a lot of history. (The name derives from the Roman "Colonia Caesar Augustus")  The interior has some well preserved original Moorish architecture, along with Medieval and some Renaissance features.

Another free day for me today.  It's sunny and will be 'warm', heading to 37.  Tomorrow it might even reach 50, Scotch Club has been scheduled for a neighbor's porch (the usual host is away on vacation, he offered us his patch of beach for the meeting, but we couldn't arrange travel.)  More pick-up/put-away and pondering scenery and farm layout.

Nice picture this am.

Curt looking forward to the update.

Larry have a nice day with Ellie.

Philip morning.  And they do look outstanding were do you buy them??

Tom sorry to hear about the banking problem.  We've had it happen and it's just a PITA to get it fixed.
Have a much better day today.

Karl looking forward to an update.

Mike maybe Sharon used to grind coffee!!

Bernd I wish I was that young!!

Nice picture Dave.

Weather in South Jersey sunny/43.  Later the same.
No I did not make it to the bench yesterday.
Seems 1:1 stuff got in the way.
But I will try again later today.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Good morning Rick, Curt, Larry, Philip, ACLTom, Karl, Mike Bernd, Dave, Jerry and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, it sounds like the Petrified Forest NP is your next hiking spot.

Curt, Have fun with the roofing.

Larry, enjoy your day.

Philip, those are some great looking figures.

ACLTom, taxman day is never fun, but it can't be worse than yesterday.

Karl, those are some great looking trestle bents there, it never ceases to amaze me how much great modeling that happens here, it's inspirational and pushes one to do better.

Mike, did you print the lanterns, they look like something I could use.

Bernd, It least it's not telling you that your 85. ;D

Dave, enjoy the scotch club today.

Jerry, hope you make it to the bench today.

TomO, hope you are doing well.

Current temperature here today is -1c (30f) and cloudy with a predicted high of 1c (34f).  Late checking in today as I had some errands to run and a haircut to get.  That is all done now so the rest of the day is mine.  Not much bench time last night but I did stress and stained the wood required for the side yard wall which I hope to build tonight.

Tomorrow is the monthly SLD meeting where we have clinics in the morning and a work session in the afternoon.  I plan to use that time to start painting the detail parts I have already primed.

Have a great day everyone.

Afternoon all.....

Rick, I've been so busy with pre-construction work for clients over the last six months that I haven't had much time to interact on the forum. I'm hoping that I will have a bit slower pace in the the near future. Still love keeping track of your travels with Star!

Good morning folks,

I see others online, but I'll make breakfast anyway.  Drinks are on the counter.  Breakfast is salmon crepes with sour cream sauce, fresh fruit, and pastries.  Enjoy.

Jerry, I don't think so, the coffee hasn't tasted like mud lately... ;D

Ron, the lanterns were cast in clear resin.  I'm working on a 3D printed version now.  I'll report the success.

Gregory, thanks for stopping by.

How is the rest of the crew?

I piddled a bit on the layout yesterday.  Going to the movie with family this afternoon.

Have fun,
mike

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Mike. Enjoy the movie. What are you going to see?

Starting out the day in the high 60's under a milky sky. Yesterday at the workbench I got the office and store roofs shingled but decided to wait on weathering until all 3 roofs are done. Speaking of, the barn roofing is supposed to be here Monday afternoon.

Today MOH wants me to go with her to the local farmer's market. After this is translated from MOH speak it means I need to carry the bags. ::) Nothing special planned for the weekend, other than Sunday we have to pickup a local pet skunk who will be vacationing with us for a month.

That's all I have.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning,

Mike thanks for the coffee this morning. Have fun at the bench if you make it there and enjoy the movie.

Curt thanks for the breakfast. Hope you ate your wheaties this morning to carry all the heavy bags.

How's the rest of the gang doing.

It's a cloudy 43 already with a high of 46 with rain. I'm sure the snowy driveway will be a sheet of ice by tomorrow; time to break out the rock salt. Painting some installed outside corner pieces today so that should, hopefully unless the Mrs has other ideas, finish up that project. Have a few St Patty's decorations to put up and if I get bored a new shade to be installed in the computer area. Bench time???

Have an enjoyable day!! Be well.

Today's travel photo is Cambridge University, UK:
image.jpeg
I attended a conference there and even stayed in one of the dorms.  (I forget which college it was, but one of the newer ones.)  Unfortunately, some of the university museums were closed, particularly the archeology museum.

It's a bright sunny day, lots of glare from the snowpack.  Scotch Club this afternoon, and I'll have to go to the store before then.  But I'm making progress in pick-up/put-away, and that usually gets me motivated to start a new project.

Good morning everyone.

34 now in Holbrook, cloudy and 73 later.

Mike, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Hope the movie is a good one.

Curt, have fun at the farmers market.

Dave, hope there are some good scotch's today.

Larry, hope things don't get too icy.

Greg, thanks for stopping in.
Glad business is good and thanks for following my adventure.

Ron, have fun at the SLD.

Jerry, any melting happening there?

Bernd, that's happened to all of us.

Karl, last time my house was re-assessed I disputed the higher price and got my tax bill lowered a few hundred.

ACLTom, sorry you had such a bad day yesterday.
I've had my CC co-opted a couple of times.
Although it didn't cost me anything, it was an inconvenience waiting for the new card.
Hope today is much better.

Philip, those are very good looking figures.

How's everyone else?

Drove towards Petrified Forest NP yesterday.
Stopped in Winslow for a little sightseeing.
That town has done a fantastic job of turning a song lyric into an economic boom.
I'm about 1/2 from the park and I'll head there shortly.
Park doesn't open till 8 and closes at 5 which is odd.
Got three short hikes planned and surprisingly dogs are allowed.
