I can only stand for a small amount of time , so I decided to do a small job on the Clay Center scene.

The front side of the tracks has several company houses and the railroad boarding house. To fit them in I cut out their floor plans , stuck the floor plans to the cork , then added several types of static grass . After it had dryed I removed the paper floor plans and I will now be gluing down the structures so that their foundations will look as if they are in the ground not above it. I will add paths and details later.

I love photo's, don't we all.

Jan, the grass around the foundations is nicely executed, but going back at least to the 1950s almost all US homeowners and landlords have been Slaves Of The Lawn.  Except in arid areas, there will be at least a strip of mowed lawn on two or three sides of most houses.  When I see grass as tall as you've got around the all-dark-gray house, it gives me an 'abandoned house' feeling.

Thank you , the dark gray house is hasn't been lived in for a few months , waiting for the next tenant, so I suppose it looks exactly as it should. The other grass is actually a bit high as well , but in N-scale static grass of 1/2 mm would be correct , but strange enough that wouldn't look realistic.

Hi Jan:

Nice job. I like the long building. I will assume a RR rooming house for the employees. Houses are nice to.

Looking great!  The static grass looks great and really helps make the structures pop.  Very nice work.

Thank you , it sure makes a difference to have a very good static grass applicator.

Jan, as had been said before, I really like the job you did on the grass. The different colors make it look real. also makes the buildings stand out more.

Jan, looking great but you better stop as they keep telling me you can't do that in N scale :).
But we know better .
