Hi John.....just wanted to let you know (again!) that I, and I'm sure many others, really appreciate the effort and time you're taking to post all of these photos.  And I really like the way your doing it (ie: structure by structure).  Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words John.  This thread is giving me a chance to review all the photographs and is generating many ideas for the structures on my layout. George has built a wonderful layout and I hope this thread is useful to those that enjoy his work.

Very much so, John.

I too thank you for taking the time to do this thread, and look forward to your upcoming pictures from Franklin.  I'm also very excited to finally be making the trip across the ocean next year to see the F&SM and to meet George!

Cheers, Mark.

As I said above,  I am enjoying putting this thread together and hope everyone finds it as helpful in their modeling as I do.

As for your visit to the F&SM, I know you will not be disappointed.  Pictures do not do the F&SM justice.

I'm working on the pictures of the town of Franklin. I will be posting some overview photographs as soon as I get to an area with reasonable internet service. I'm using my iPad with cell phone service in Northern Michigan tonight and it just can't deal with photographs. I will then be focussing on specific areas and structures, so start sorting your pictures of Franklin and get them ready to add to the thread.

I'm back and working on the pictures - as for the weather well winter is about a month and a half ahead of schedule here.  We are having January snow and temperatures.  Thanks for covering for me while I was away. Now, back to the pictures.

I noticed "GSellios" was on the forum earlier so I guess he was checking out the thread. Very well done by the way! Thanks again John.

George is always watching what's going on with the forum. He very rarely posts - it's "just the way he rolls ", as they say.

I should have some pictures of Franklin up tonight - and thanks for the kind words. There are a lot of George Sellios fans out there that never get tired of F&SM pictures.

Tonight we start studying pictures of the town of Franklin on the Franklin and South Manchester Railroad. I think Franklin is a great example of creating depth to a model railroad scene. The first time you visit the F&SM you might think that the town of Franklin makes a great backdrop to display some of George's FSM kits like the Brownsville Depot in this first picture.

Then you step back and start taking in the complete scene by looking over the roofs of some of the great models in the foreground.

Then on you third or forth visit to the F&SM you start to learn that it is all about the detail. Here is a photograph a took using a 250 mm lens of one of the buildings on top of the hill.  Try to find it in the previous picture.

Here are a few more overview photographs of the town of Franklin.  Over the next few weeks I plan to isolate (through the magic of digital photograph) each of the structures in the town of Franklin - most of which are contest quality models on their own - and show how the details merged together to create George's town of Franklin.

It would be great if you have some overview photographs of Franklin if you would post them. ;)

I would especially like to have a photograph taken from across the room that shows the entire town of Franklin.
