Here is a photo taken several years ago when attending the annual Springfield Train Show. This photo shows the working O gauge model that was featured on pages 22 and 23 in the September 1953 article in Model Railroader ,  called Great Railroad Models # 5........Lift Bridge. That MR article has 2 Black and White photos by Linn Wescott, one in the lowered position and one raised up.
The original model builders name was Al Schelbach and he scratch built his model in O scale . Al's was a working model was made from brass sheet.   He used plans of the New Haven 's double track bridge that spans the Housatonic river at Davon, Conn. Rivets were done with escutcheon pins . That info is mentioned in the MR article.
The working O scale model was installed on the club layout of the New Haven Society of Model Engineers in 1953 per the MR article. You can also see that club mentioned in the banner in this photo with the original builders name on a plaque.
That MR article inspired George Sellios to build his beautiful HO scale model.

Thanks for following up on this and sharing it with us.  George told me that the original model was O gauge. In George's words , "I saw the article and just had to build it some day".  As we can see from the pictures - George had that project in his files for many years before he built it.

Let's start tonight by zooming back out on this area to gain perspective.

Between the abandoned signal tower and the construction site we have Bailey's Produce Company.

And here are a few more of Bailey's Produce that I took from a slightly different angle.

John, all these images are overwhelming to my aged brain. I could spend the rest of my life looking at these.

Just add to you dedicated work, it would be nice if to have the structure's location on the layout map.

Thanks for the suggestion - I need to think about how I can do that.  First step will be getting a layout map that I have permission to post here.  I have a number of them from the magazines but they may have issues with me posting it here.  I will ask George if he knows of one that I can post.  Then, we will have to come up with a system to locate the structures on the map.  Probably it will be a location number on the map that is listed in the index.

I'll add this to the list!

As we move on down the main line past the White Rose Bakery we come to the South Manchester Depot.

We featured this structure early on in this thread so I will repeat those posts here for completeness.
