Quote from: Larry C on June 04, 2026, 08:46:28 PMTom your imagineering skills are great. If there's a good way to fix something you seem to find it; very well done. How was dinner? Like my grandfather used to say "Call me anything you want, just don't call me late for dinner".

Larry,

Thank you for the kind and generous compliment.

Dinner was great. Pam surprised me with her meat loaf, candy yams, and creamed corn. Confetti cake for desert. Yummy!

Greg,

Since you have built this kit, I very much appreciate your comments. I'm very pleased with the progress and how it is truning out.

When the left and middle buildings are set in place, next to each other, the two walls become one common wall.

A top plate was needed to be cut for this area also. The pencil points to the two walls.

I added the top plate to the middle building wall. You can see how the plate is out over the wall.

In the next photo, you can see how this top board covers both walls when pushed together.

By adding a top board to the rear also gives the walls some relief as opposed to a stark wall with no trim.

Back in a few, time for a Diet Pepsi.

The last portion of the two buildings with top plates is the front canopy walls.

The top boards on the rest of the two buildings, were pretty much a no brainer as far as cutting the angles. Mostly they were at 90 degrees with the two front angled walls at close to 33 1/3 degrees.

I decided to add a little challenge for me by cutting these three boards at 45 degrees.

I cut the two side boards at 45 degrees. I used the inside corner of the inside wall on the canopy as the starting point for the cut. I then glued these two boards in place making sure they were both flush with the wall on the inside.

I then cut the front board at 45 degrees on each end. I cut this one a little bit longer and shaved off a little at a time until I had a perfect fit.

I added the top plates to the two buildings for three specific reasons.

1. It gives the buildings a more professional and finished appearance.

2. It gives the buildings my own spin on how I want them to look.

3.  Since I'm just a sub roof for the light wiring and a top roof, the top boards also add just a little more wall height to the walls.

I'm certainly not saying the kit version is wrong, far from that. I just don't have the ability to build a kit exactly per the instructions.

All roof panels still fit as they did prior to the top plate additions. Oops, forgot the canopy roof.  8)

Done for today.
