It got down to 49 here last night, good sleeping weather.  Sunny and seasonal for the next couple of days.  We got some light rain over the weekend, which watered in the fertilizer I applied last week.  But I think I see some stripes where I didn't get complete coverage.  In a couple of weeks, when I get motivated again, I'll go do the yard in the other direction. 

Dr appt this afternoon, along with eyedrops for tomorrow's eye #2.

Good morning and Larry thanks for the icy cold diet Dr Pepper! I will nibble later.

68f degree now and 80 later with a possible 2" of rain in between trying to get there. We'll see but we need the moisture

Rick, are you crazy? Meant in the nicest way! HOA meeting, hope they are ok with Star! Hope they allow you to park your van in the driveway...

Inventoried styrene and paints yesterday. Wow! Weathering diesels and freight cars uses a heck of a lot less paint than painting structures and weathering them. Then when trying to order online last night 1/2 the paints I wanted are out of stock at the 3 places I buy from. So I ordered none because of shipping costs. I could get what I needed from the 3 combined but with 3 shipping fees it's not worth it. My LHS no longer carries the Vallejo line and even driving 70 miles to Hiawatha won't get me re-stocked. Even the Tamiya XF line of Aryclics is iffy finding!  My styrene inventory is now correct and that saved me quite a few dollars. You know when you know you have something and can't find it? That's where I was with styrene cladding pieces. Couldn't find it and was ready to order but found it thankfully. Mislabeled by me and hung on the wrong peg!

Gas last Thursday was $3.89 per gallon. It's back over $4 at $4.39 yesterday!

Maybe some outdoor things between the raindrops today. Terry created the dreaded "honey do" list Saturday and Sunday.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Larry.

I had a 7AM Dermatologist app. this morning. I called it as I found two spots that I knew were skin cancer. I've been to the rodeo enough times to know what a bad one looks like.

Two aggressive skin cancers, squamous cell carcinomas, one on left lower leg just above the ankle and one on my forehead just inside the hair line. Surgery scheduled for Monday, 22 June at 0700 hrs.

TomO I've started mainly using Vallejo, Reaper, and The Army Painter on my builds.

Tom you can't seem to catch a break with the skin CA.

I really like "The Army Painter" for figures and detail parts.  I've tried some Reaper paints, they're nice too.  But mostly when I want quality, I use either Vallejo or artist acrylics.  (My RR's standard color for freight cars is Liquitex Red Oxide....)

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Larry.

Current weather is 21c (69f) with the sun poking through the clouds.  Had a great time at the train show this weekend with a great turnout, probably because it rained all weekend.  After I got home last night I unpacked the car, ate supper and watched the Monaco Grand Prix.  Interesting race but in the end, the same result.  No modeling this weekend but we shall see what tonight brings.

Sunny and warm with rain chances pretty good for late in the day.

The girls and I worked for several hours trimming trees, clearing off the lower branches of pine the deer feasted on all winter. I must have hauled 20+ loads to trimmings to the pile out back. The Doll took them out to eat and I watched the NASCAR Demo Derby from Michigan.

A good weekend for all. 

I had a fertilizing misstep recently, Dave, I have a one lane strip around the outside edge of my back yard where the material all discharged at a whole lot quicker rate than it was expected to.  The straight fertilizer took a smaller opening on the machine than did the weed/feed I used in front. I've deferred purchase of more to finish the back as other jobs keep piling on. Boy is that area, 10' wide, REALLY GREEN. 

Plenty of other tasks taking up the time. 

No plans firmed up for today. We're in an a/c crisis, glad to have it but the Doll goes off the wall in refrigeration "requirements". Her father ran a butcher shop so she likes the meat locker feel.  Our power company's special mid day rate plays right into the weather.  Use more power and we'll charge you more to use it.

I'm back, need another diet Dr Pepper!

Somewhere before Covid maybe 2018 I mainly switched to using Vallejo for spraying and brushing. After Covid I switched to spraying Tamiya XF Arcylics for base coating and fades. I used Vallejo for brush weathering.

Now because I do little freight car and diesel weathering and am mainly doing structures I switched back to Vallejo both for base coating and weathering of structures

I have bottles I think of just about every manufacturer's Arcylic paints for scale models. I keep coming back to Vallejo and Tamiya.

No solvent painting anymore but I do have a few bottles of Testors enamels but they must be 15 years old. I was able to sell off for a ridiculous price the many hundreds of bottles of Floquil that honestly I don't  miss. I know many miss them but I adapted to the change.

I don't believe there are bad paints but after trials, errors and experiment I've come to use basically 2  paint brands. It's all a matter of getting used to the characteristics of a brand

The 3d whiskey barrels still have a couple pin holes....modifies the drawing and fixing to try again.

Philip not sure you'll get the barrels perfect. The ones I order from SW come in an assortment and even some of his has pinholes; I usually just ignore them and sometimes chalks & clear alcohol will cover them up.

Late today two of the granddaughters came down early this morning to spend the day.
Had a nice visit and lunch.

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Yesterday was basically a throw away day. I watched some water pour videos, and ordered some stuff online for the next build. I pick up the kit tomorrow!

The water feature goes to the edge of the diorama and I'm trying to figure out how to contain the resin while it dries and then remove the barrier without damaging the pour.

Since Wednesday and Thursday are full days I'm doing floors today. Fun times.

Nothing else going on this way.

I'm checking in before heading out for Eye #2 cataract surgery.  Once again, it's a sunny warm day, I'll definitely need those heavy duty sunglasses when I go home.  The worst part of that is my wife's driving, she drives very differently than I do, and the sunglasses aren't dark enough to avoid seeing that...

HOA meeting went well.
They seem easy enough to deal with.
Drove down to my bank and got the check I'll need for tomorrow's closing.
Going to the house later this afternoon with the realtor to do a final walkthrough.
Other than that I'll try to stay cool.
