Good morning, Curt, Rick and later arrivals. I'll check back once the forum has digested your photo, Rick. 60F and clear skies in the lower Merrimack Valley, 77F forecast later.  Tom, I've never seen a dollar like that, my father collected stamps and books.

Birds and beasts are fed, I'm at the computer. We talked about biking to Newburyport later, don't know if we'll get going before lunch or after.

Karl, we don't antique as much as we used to as we have all the house will hold. Now, Pam looks for jewelry and I look for old currency notes. I'd show more of the old notes but this is a railroad forum.

I'll be edging and cutting the grass starting around 9AM this fine morning. Calling for 60-70% chance of rain early this afternoon. 

My plan for today is to get caught up on all the current threads after the grass cutting. Not much else is happening here.

It's a p cloudy 71 with a high of 73 with possible rain; so They say. Some bench time shortly messing with a little more scenery before the new stuff arrives. I did order about 9 LP's yesterday from Rusty Rail; when they arrive that'll keep me occupied for awhile. Took a look at Brett's new waterfront Kit & in comes in O scale. Sweet looking kit with a not-so-sweet price tag. Maybe down the road???

It's a rainy morning here.  Ball game at 1 pm; otherwise, not sure what the day has in store.  Rick, I have been thinking about scenery, wiring, and roads, and phase II...

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, packing is never fun.  This is only the second turntable I've built, the first one was scratchbuilt, this on is way easier.

Rick, that pizza looks great.  Interesting starting grid, should be a good race.

Tom, Take it easy cutting the grass, it's a never ending project.

Larry, My big issue with buying stuff from the states is not the sticker price, its the shipping costs.  I was going to order a couple of Brett's 3D printed trucks but the $54 (US) shipping cost changed my mind.  Have fun at the bench.

Current weather is 20c (68f) and cloudy with thunder storms this afternoon, so I'm guessing Gracie will be getting her walk this morning.  Nothing much else planned for today except to watch the F1 race.  I did manage to do more work on the turntable last night.  Before I went to bed I posted an update.

A dreary Sunday looking like rain again and high humidity.

Sounds like pretty smooth sailing on this morning report from the Crew.

Last night I was adding the siding to my stick framed building wall and once completed I gander that I placed every board on the wrong side of the back wall. I was going to tear it off but decided to just add siding to the other side. The dumbass award goes to me!

Well pizza all the sudden looks good Rick!

BTW: Sierra West has anew kit coming out Sept 1. 2026 in HO and O Scale.

Larry actually I was expecting a higher price. I have a bank train savings account that gets deposits monthly and that pays for my kits.

Overcast, hazy and warmer today. It may go up to 90^o with evening or overnight storms. 0.1" of rain all month is getting dire. Tonight and tomorrow have a chance of rainfall then zip the rest of the workweek.

Visit of Geek squad was ok. The Doll overdid the sweet stuff.    "The Bear" actually was awake the whole visit.

I worked on the diesel, soldered and tested a keep alive to the sound board. TCS KA-2 seems to provide 3 to 4 seconds of "go-juice" after picking it up off the track.  just about right.


Contrary to popular notion it didn't interfere with a programming change. I changed horn CVs twice with no issues. I use a NCE Power Cab and a 15" track for programming and testing off the layout.

I will tinker some more with the diesel if allowed, we have evening plans with friends at a nearby lake house. The Doll overdid the sweets and feels a tick off this morning.

That climb has quite a challenging look to it, Rick. That's quite a crusty looking pizza. Should be about half price with all the "fixins" in the middle like that. Sho nuff looked good, mmmm. I like crust.

Tom I park in the driveway due to antiques. Part of the year she gets to park inside but not always.

Good Sunday morning. I miss the old Crew Van Karl used to pilot around on Sunday at the RR Line forums. This place is great just different!

The trees! I am creating them for a friend. He has a 2 deck turn back curve at the entrance to the layout room. After River Rail 2026 the work crew took a few Fridays off. Now that we are back at it we will meet every other Friday alternating work sessions with another friend's layout. I will post 2 pictures of the space I took of about 30 pictures I took of the deck we are filling and then the Ai representation of the forest going in.

45 Trembling Aspens
60 conifers
120 Maples

All of various sizes using data garnered from the US Forest Service that represents September/October after the big color change in the Michigan UP area of Negaunee. 

I found out Weeping/trembling Aspens are the same species in the UP as they are near Stevens Pass in Washington and Marais Pass in Montana. So if these Aspens look ok I have 2 more layouts I can create them for. Trees make great gifts for a layout owner

Trees are fun and relaxing for me. Once I get into a rhythm I move along fairly quickly. While I have been selling trees continuously since 2015 I have not create a full tree since before my stroke in 8/2024. I have cut wire and formed the trunks and branches but not the complete process. These will be from unspooling the wires (18, 22 and 26 gauge florist wire) forming the trunks, brabpnchesband limbs to adding to bark and leaves.

Warm and humid right now butbI did use the daughter's family pool at 6am. I love a morning swim but pools are too much work

TomO, that stand of birches looks really good.  When I first glanced at the bottom photo, I thought "a bit too consistent."  But once I looked at it further, saw it was a stand of birches, the consistent color made much more sense.

Thanks Dave. Ai interprets differently every time I use it. But it's a representation of the colors that I will be using. The owner gave ideas as to what he'd like. I am creating the trees, painting the track and helping scenery builder John Mueller of CNW Northern Memories. He has appeared in MRR quite a few times the last 3 years. He's doing the ground forms, ground cover and installing the trees.

TomO, you're really branching out. Better just leaf you alone.  Birch's seem to struggle in our area of UP.  I only have one, deceased but still standing as the hummingbird crew likes to rest at the top between runs to the feeder.
