Good afternoon folks,

Rick, thanks for opening and lunch.  The panorama is amazing.  Good luck shopping.

Jerry, I'm sure you'll get to the bench, so take it easy.

Larry, the diorama is looking great.  Have fun completing it.

Tom, hope the hip heals quickly.  Congrats on dodging the shopping trip...

Ron, good luck with the alteration.  Hope you get there tonight.

Karl, wishing you a pleasant visit up north.  Thanks for the cool photo.

Curt, with all the chores, it is time for a good rest.  Hope you sleep well tonight.

How goes the rest of the gang?

It's a hazy, hot day in Georgia, but cooler today at 92F. The optometrist and dentist visits went well.

Yesterday I finished gluing the hand car superstructure together.  Today I hope to glue on the decking and do some light weathering.  I browsed car and structure kits yesterday in search of the next project, but couldn't get excited about anything.  Maybe I'll work on the layout.

Have fun,
mike

Rick

Good morning everyone.

62 now in Colorado Springs, AM sun and PM clouds (as usual here in CO.) with a high of 82.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Leftover pepperoni pizza for breakfast today.
Eat it cold or warm it up in a skillet.

Mike, have fun with the handcar.

Curt, hope you got some quality sleep last night.

Karl, I like that night shot very much.

Ron, any TT progress?

TomO, hope the hip feels better today.

Larry, staying put again today?

Jerry, I still feel bad about not finishing that hike and I'm giving serious thought to going back there.

How's everyone else.

Checked off the gym, Costco and Walmart yesterday.
Also stopped at a camera shop to see if they had a remedy for my camera.
They didn't, and said it probably needs to go back to Sony for repair.
That won't happen till I get home.
Then went to Snowpack Taproom in Conifer for a very good pepperoni pizza (hence today's breakfast) and 2 oatmeal stouts.
While my friend messaged me that he had passes to do the Manitou Incline today.
The Incline was constructed up the slope of Mount Manitou under the ownership of Dr. Newton N. Brumback as a funicular in 1907, for the purpose of providing access to water tanks at the top of the mountain that would provide gravity-fed water pressure to the cities of Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs.
Now the incline is a hiking trail consisting of 2,768 steps (the old ties) and gaining a little over 2,000' of elevation.
Star isn't allowed to go on this one.

Here's the point where I turned around on Mount Sherman.

And this was the view at the Mount Sherman Trailhead the night before the hike.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. The 2nd photo is spectacular! I can see why you turned around in the 1st photo; if you decide to have another go please be careful....you don't want sliding rocks under your feet. Nope, have a couple of errands to run this am.

What's your plans today?

It's 56 on the back porch with a high of 75 and maybe some rain. After the errands I hope to color 2 LP's for the tractor scene on the diorama. Not much else going on around here.

Have a great day!! Be well, keep cool, and stay safe.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. That photo reminds me of photos of Everest but without snow and ice and a lot more elevation. You should follow your gut feeling or the voice in your head. When I get it, it's usually right.

I had an excellent night's sleep and feel like a human today. Yesterday I glued the 2nd office to the building I've been working on and shingled the roof. Next up is more rafter tails. :-\

Today is floor day then I need to take Dad to Publix. We did the P.O. and bank yesterday but I didn't have the energy to walk Publix after his senior trip.

Not much else happening today.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Howdy.

My training class got cancelled at the last minute. I've had to rearrange my schedule. Fortunately, there is always something that has to get done at work.

It is going to be 100 degrees F here today. I hope you all have a much cooler day.

TomO/Tloc

Good morning. 63f degrees now low 80's later. The almost no chance of rain yesterday turned into a "pop up" .75" of rain during the 5:30 hockey game. Dry and clear when we got to the rink. The rain was over by time the game was over 90 minutes later. We needed it but not expected.

My hip felt better yesterday but still sore but I can walk better. It is just tender this morning but definitely better but no golf for me a a week or so!

The grandson has his sports agility class this morning. (I never heard of it either till yesterday)  I will pick him up at the rink and then go through his favorite drive through either McDonalds or Culver's. Then we will work on his slot cars he painted last week. He has 3 new chassis and motors we have to tune.

My plan in between is just to work on the next batch of trees and those are the weeping Aspen. I can do them out on the patio under the trees and pergola. I have the trunks cut and a jig I hope makes drilling for the branches easier.

Rick, I can understand not doing that final climb. More worried coming down in my case! Always wonderful pictures.

Karl enjoy the UP. I have 2 buddies  camping near Michigammie today taking pictures of the area for reference and plan to go back in September for color change reference pictures. One of the 2 guys has a magazine deal on creating a scene for a specific area. Something about comparing real on site research versus using the internet.

Enjoy the day

8) Sun and mid 50s at the cedar swamp this morning

We also had late afternoon pop up storms that dumped 1/2" on us in a few minutes yesterday. Things are nice and green up here.

Terrific 2nd photo, Rick, no way I'd be up for that rock pile :o as TomO said. Down would be frightening.

Just been informed of a road trip. Signing off...

Good evening everyone,

Really late checking in today.  Had a day of meetings today that wasn't planned.  I was asked to attend a meeting at 10:00 this morning for a quote I did for a project we have which lasted 3 hours.  :o  This led to another meeting that lasted way to long, which led to an internal meeting to finish the day. :o :o   Let's just say it's scotch night.  ;D

Work in the turntable install is ongoing, working 15 minutes to 1/2 hour.  At this point I glues the new blank in place an the glue is curing.  Next step is to do the final trimming so the turntable slips easily into the hole.  If all goes well, work will continue tomorrow night.  I hope to have an update by the end of the week.

Have a great evening everyone.

Good morning everyone.

60 in Colorado Springs, sun and cloud mix later with a high of 89.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Blueberry pancakes with sides of bacon and/or sausage for breakfast today.

Ron, work meetings, ugh.

Mike, I'm sure lunch with Sharon was fun.

Karl, hope you enjoyed the road trip.

Jerry, what did you have for dinner?

TomO, glad the hip feels better and have fun outside with the trees.

Jamie, hope you were able to stay cool yesterday.

Curt, good news on the sleep.

Larry, LP's done?

It was rocky like that most of the way up Sherman.
Those big rocks aren't too bad to walk on.
It's the tiny round ones that cause slipping especially going down.
Decided not to go back to Sherman because it's 90 miles away and don't feel like back tracking that much.
Manitou Incline went well.
Did it in an hour and 8 minutes.
Fastest time up is 17 minutes and 16 seconds.
Someone went up 13 times in one day and took about 10 1/2 hours.  :o
Got to the top and dark clouds were moving in and thunder was heard.
That motivated me to head back down quickly.
Visiting Garden of the Gods this morning and doing a nice hike there without Star again.

At the bottom of the incline.

And at the top.
Not sure what that expression was but I wasn't tired.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. I would need to be airlifted after that set of stairs!

Started out the day with a walk at 76F and lower humidity! The overnight thunderstorm really helped out. Yesterday I cut rafter tails and some extra. I always seem to lose a couple. I also recieved my NBW order from Tichy.

This morning Dad has a routine dermatologist appointment and after lunch son and I are seeing the latest dinosaur movie. Probably no workbench today.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Dude that's a crap ton of stairs!!!! I would have needed oxygen about partway up. Yes the 2 LP's are finished and planted. Enjoy the garden and hike.

Curt sounds like a busy day; enjoy the movie and time with your son.

What's your plans?

It's sunny @ 65 with a high of 81. Driving into town yesterday I noticed a couple of soft maple trees with their leaves changing color already; they're usually the first to change at the end of Summer. Speaking of the end of Summer the NYS Fair starts the 26th and runs through Labor Day; of course you won't see me there...too many Humans. Maybe a little bench time this morning then I have to help Ellie this afternoon.

Have an enjoyable and safe day!! Be well and stay cool.

Morning everyone

Rick thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
Your looking good hiking agrees with you.
Hell I would have been out of breath 1/4 way up.

Curt enjoy the movie with your son.

Larry I don't blame you for missing the fair.  Way to many people milling around!!

Weather in South Jersey is anyone's guess for sure the "Weather Weenies" have no idea.
But right now it's P. sunny/84.

Dinner with friends was just excellent.
I had Veal Parmigiana ot was excellent and way to much 2 large pieces.
Today Diane has a trip to Hobby Lobby she need yarn for a project she's doing.
After that some time at the bench I hope.

Everyone have a wonderful day!!  :)

Hello from Wisconsin. Dry again and maybe 86f degrees later, it's 53 now

Wow Rick! Great climb. My elevation climb on the 3 mile walk yesterday was 15'. That was out in the horse pastures before I let the horses out there. Nice and green the top inches of the grass but the ground underneath is still very dry. The horses stayed out there overnight but they will be stabled at dusk today. I do not want the fields over grazed. The walk was slower as the hip is still tender but the limp is gone

I just talked Terry into a drive 70 miles to Hiawatha Hobbies that takes about 75 minutes. But we have the daughter's SUV that needs the carbon cleaned out and Miss Speedy can usually make the trip much quicker than I do. I need paints and the usual $100 to 200 resupply 2-3 times a year because of health and less weathering has not been done in 18 months. Hiawatha carry's the full line of scale paints I use and while structure commissions are booming weathering is down. I've let the supply go down so much to where colors I need I don't have. So it's time.

This is not a complaint about pricing but it has gone up significantly in those 18 months and the shipping astronomically. Free shipping at my 2 favorite online paint suppliers went from $99 to $199 to where a big resupply at Hiawatha is now competitive even with State sales tax and the cost of the drive over. I can amortize the drive because we will do a few things before returning home. But even a straight drive over and back is cheaper than combined pricing online. Hiawatha carry's my main paint, Vallejo and supposedly has the colors I need in stock

Enjoy the day
TomO
