Good morning (barely) everyone,

Tom, really glad to see you posting again.

Current temperature here is 18c (64f) with cloudy skies and a 30% chance of showers later.  By the time I got to the bench yesterday, it was after supper.  Was a productive evening though as I managed to install the switch leading to the staging yard, I'll post an update tonight.

3/4 of the way home from our week in da Yoop. Traffic has been tolerable moving along at or slightly above the posted 75 in the rural county side.

Be nice to be home. OPS coming up Saturday, the first since late Spring. Be good to see the crew.

54 in Idaho Springs, cloudy with a high of 75 later.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Breakfast burritos for breakfast today filled with scrambled eggs, sausage, cheddar and avocado.

Karl, hope you made it home safely the rest of the way and have fun at the ops.

Ron, I guess the speculation of Max going to MB is over.

TomO, have you made a decision on building the other bridge?

Tom, it is fantastic to see you posting again. We all wish you well. If you feel up to it you can come mow my lawn Andy day  Perhaps you'll remember me since I've been away for a while 

Today is another day at the "home office" which means I have to listen in on several conference calls and draft design documents for a solution I didn't come up with and have very little details about so far. Don't worry, this project is not "critical" so if I pull stuff out of my rear end to fill in the blanks it won't cause anyone to lose their job. I then have a dental appointment in the afternoon, joy.... The good news is I am taking my wife on a date after the dentist visit. We are going for $2 fish tacos at her favorite place.

Yesterday I built the first freight dock, but I want to add cross bracing and possibly NBW's.

Today I'm heading over to daughter's house to help SIL get prepared for the outdoor project. I'll try to work on the dock later.

It's a rainy 64 with a high of 72. Tomorrow the NYS Fair starts through Labor Day; looks like summer's coming to an end soon. The kids go back to school Sept. 8th. Not much else going on here but plan on updating my thread later.

Bright sun and cool, mid 50s this morning in Michigan.  We made it home in good shape yesterday and then had the wild idea to mow.  The Doll and I mowed the whole place.  With an inch of rain in the gage it appears that really spurred the grass growth., raised the deck on 'her' mower 1/4" to keep the debris manageable. 

I arrived home to find the Walther's 33" wheel sets I had ordered were here in good shape.  I'm probably set for now on wheels for the next couple years, if I'm allowed them...the years.  Weights, wheels and KDs go on anything I build or shake out of the box.

Time to make pre-purchase for next winter's propane supply, current offer from my long time supplier is $1.99/9 which matches that I lined up for Northern Command. 

Never had fish tacos, Jaime, I love both, never combined them.  Reminds me, it's taco deal night in nearby LakeO the town the Doll's antique booth is located.  Since our Burnt cheese, Sculptamold Pizza experience last week, I've been wanting a real pizza.  No idea what today's plan will be.  Left over Subway from the trip home is certainly there somewhere...   Subway refers to their help as Sandwich Artists these days.

Might take a peak at the layout today.  I have a batch of ties in the AI that have been soaking a week, they got left in the early rush to head North a day earlier than I had planned last week

Good morning from So Central Wisconsin. It's 55f degrees heading to a possible 81. Yesterday was close to the same and absolutely pleasant hoping for something similar today.

Rick, the Foss River bridge is a go. But it has become a group project as have the trees and parts of the paper mills for both layouts

There are 6 of us in the Friday work session group that usually work together. Over the last 5 years we have become good friends. I will lead but not necessarily build.

I will finish the 50 birch trees and 40 Weeping Aspens by 10/7 for the Michigan UP layout but no new projects there for me this season.

The 112 Maples one of the other guys will create. He picked up the supplies at the shop yesterday. The  2 swamp scenes will be done by the Maple tree makers wife. The layout owner will bring the templates down to this Fridays session. She helps our daughter a couple days a week with her dollhouse business, so she has skills

For the PNW layout. The structures for the paper mill are mostly done. One of the guys brought his grandson over to the shop yesterday and his g/s is a slot car friend of our grandson and also know each other from school. They both will be 13 in November. They will under his supervision paint the paper mill 2 days a week. I inspected what they did yesterday (primer) afternoon last night and they did a very nice job. Lightly coated as asked for! They will also paint all the tree trunks and shading under the canopy. They each did 5 trees yesterday and they are just as good as I would have done.

The Cashmere, Wa scene is going to be a custom laser cut cold storage warehouse, bulk oil and sawmill. The 3 piece 18' template base is in my shop and another of the crew the will build the structures here. The drawings are ready for the lasers.

The Foss River Bridge scene consists of a compressed 5' bridge in a 7' space. The owner is creating a template for it and that should be available for pickup on Friday. The trestle kit from Micro Engineering will be at the LHS on Wednesday. I will build it and 2 of the girder bridge spans. I will use the 2 Central Valley kits I have. If they are a good representation of the scene we will proceed. I downloaded from the Pacific Northwest Railroad  Archive site the bridge drawings and specifications and then fed it to ChatGPT the Ai tool I'm using. If the trestles are deemed worthy as is after I build the 1st another of Crew will build the other 13 at his place while he recovers from ankle and leg surgery. I will build the girder bridges but they are 48' and 32' spans per the plans. So some will need kitbashing

As a Crew we work very well together and 5 of us and 3 of our wives have become really good friends. 2 of the guys are widowers. All but 1 is within 20 minutes of the shop.

This arrangement takes what very little pressure I was feeling away. My shop space is big enough for multiple guys to work here if they want. The group chat and project management by ChatGPT will keep us organized. The Ai will also keep track of the paints and ratios to use to stay consistent

It's a good turn of events as the bones of both layouts have been completed and the guys are skilled and getting restless. This helps solve a lot.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, I agree with you, I think Max going to MB is a dead topic right now.

Current temperature is 17c (62f), overcast with rain in the forecast.  Good day for work.    No modeling last night but I did manage to post an update to my Clearwater Valley Ry. Co. thread.  Rick, ss for the hole modification I can not go any further to the left due to a shelf bracket that supports the layout.  The hole enlargement has to be on the right.  I just need to figure out how much larger the opening needs to be.  I have a feeling I'll be figuring that out tonight.

The Foss River Bridge in Tonga Washington is 644' long. In HO scale that's 7.1'. We have 7' available so will compress the bridge to fit 5' or roughly 70% of the prototype.
