Thanks for sharing, great short video's.
I love photo's, don't we all.

Thanks to all that enjoyed the two videos of my layout. Obviously, these were just a small segment of the layout. There are a couple more that i hope to upload in the next day or two. I have been busy on house projects and need to get back to the layout.

Videos look great, Frank, especially the working crossing gates.  What did you use for them?

Good morning Jeff,

I have had these signals for quite some time. i will have to do some digging in my electronics book to find the correct supplier. I think it was either Berkshire Junction or Tomar. I purchased them at the train show in Amherst Massachusetts one very cold and snowy day in January many years ago. If you have never been, it is the best train show, bar none, as many forum members will tell you. I hope this helps.

Good Morning All,

Recently I ran across some clouds templates that have been in a drawer for quite some time. Wanting to add clouds behind the steel mill complex that i am working on, so i decided to try them. I had an old piece of light blue foam board ( with lots of stains) and decided to use it as a test. I used a white and light grey spray can to test out my theory. Well, I must say that I am impressed with the initial testing and will be doing a couple more shades of white and greywith the templates to see what I can create. I have a photo of a layout back East that had a painted thunderstorm and i really liked the image. So that's my goal. Then I can install the Rolling thunder to complement the backdrop. Stay tuned.

Did you ever notice how many towns are named after their water towers ! ?

I've used the same templates for my clouds.  Yours look much better.   ;D

Looking good Frank. A thunderstorm behind the steel complex is really going to look awesome.

Dr. Jeff,

Do you have any pics of your clouds? More importantly, what paint did you use to spray with. I made a couple of test paints !1) Krylon and (2) Tamiya spray. The Tamiya is a much finer ground pigment and produces a very nice, fine cloud. That's the good news. The bad news is that the Tamiya cans are only 100 ml versus 12 oz. So now I am looking for several cans of the Tamiya at a good price! So much for bargain price paint. I guess its okay if your painting the side of a barn.

An update photo. I have been over to the hobby shop to pick up more Tamiya paint. I ran out of white and purchased a dark blue/black color. Thirty dollar and i'm back home. The photo below shows the current results of the four colors that I am using. The very dark blue at the base of the clouds will be painted to appear as rain. Don't know exactly how yet. I'm still experimenting. hopefully I'll have a photo example by tomorrow so stay tuned.

Steve, the lightning is still in the box! Next up is the rain. Experimenting with different media to achieve a great looking rain. The cloud formation along the wall will be about 20 feet long of various densities. Light rain and heavy rain must be illustrated. That's the next step. I also have to order the low voltage LED strips that Tom told me about. That's the lightning. That is once it  is hooked up. I have the Broadway limited Rolling Thunder ready to install. So I guess you are just going to have to wait.

Frank,

Looking very good and realistic my friend. You have the making of a great animated feature when finished.
