Frank,
That scene improves with every post!  I've been thinking, though.  Have you thought of renaming this town "South River"?

JERRY,

Interesting thought and I'm sure that Bob Van Gelder would love it. I wonder what he would say? Chester has an almost equal share of FSM, SRMW, scratch built structures along with a bunch of plastic. Certainly the SRMW's really show much better and have a unique look to them. Clustered together certainly helps also. Anybody agree with Jerry on the possible renaming of Chester? ( I may be sorry for this question)

Thanks for your kind words. glad you are enjoying the build.

Progress report on the O.V. Hooker module. The tower is now tacked into place in the module. this will allow me to fill in the gaps around the base of the tower to the foam base. The remaining stairs can be completed to the ground. I have also included a small trackside structure to the front of the module along with a speeder. there will a lot of RR junk added to this area like switch stands, etc..now i can remove the module from the layout and finish the main and secondary building, trees and other stuff around the structure. I have a couple of Sylvan pickup trucks and cars to build and fit into the scene. There is also a walking bridge from the main building to the street that has to be added. Lots of details to finish so stay tuned.

Frank,
I'm guessing from the lack of response to your informal poll that Chester will remain Chester.  I like the added track shed, it adds interest to an already well composed scene.  I also like the tower paint is pristine, and the track shed not so much.

Jerry,

I guess that Chester will retain it's name. I guess I could have sent some pictures to Bob Van Gelder and get his thoughts, but it is what it is! I guess you should have submitted the name earlier in this project.
Thanks for your continued comments on the module. Glad you are enjoying the build.  The tower has been fun and a bit of a challenge, but it is almost done. Add the roofing on the secondary Hooker buildings and a couple more structure details and then it will be time to add the scenery. Because this building complex is up quite close to the viewer, I will be adding a lot of stuff around all the buildings. I need to search my junk piles and see what I can add. More pictures later in the week. Stay tuned.

Greg,
I'll start counting and get back to forum soon. In the meantime, here are a couple more pics of the SRMW Hooker structure module. The tower has been glued to the base to guarantee registration with the switch machine. I have primed the aluminum roofing and will be experimenting with colors this afternoon.  i decided to add some trees to the scene. No, it is not winter, just have not gotten around to adding the leaves. Leaves come after the ground materials. Enjoy the pics.

Every day and a little more progress. Both of the metal roofs materials have been painted and applied to the two out buildings. I must be getting fussy in my old age, because it took me a couple of tries to get the right pigments to what I wanted. Then, I mixed up some sculptamold and blended in the land forms. The retaining walls have been hot glued to the foam and a light application of A&I has been applied. The beginning steps to the tower were added. Once the steps were in place and I located the railside shed, then I noticed that something was missing. Like" how do you get to the shed from the tower? JUMP, NOT. That meant, cutting the retaining wall and installing steps with a retaining wall on two sides. Still to be done is a landing and more steps to the ground. That is one of tomorrows projects. Hopefully the sculptmold will be dry by tomorrow so I can apply the base coat of paint.

Time to go watch a movie with the wife. Enjoy the pic.

Just  quick update on the progress of Hookers. I have put in the dirt road around the buildings and a small amount of bushes. the two outbuildings on the end of Hookers are complete and glued to the foam. Hookers still needs the stirs on the other side to be completed and installed. there is a bunch of small miscellaneous junk that has to be painted and weathered. maybe the wife will help. She has been painting people for me and has gotten quite good. She is going to give a clinic at our regional convention next year. Enough for the day. We are going to a party tonight and I have to wear a monkey suite ( tux). not my favorite, but have to keep the wife happy.

Frank, as always, phenomenal work.....we are still "thinking" about making the trip to your end of the world next year for the convention and do that clinic for you.....and maybe a side trip to see your incredible work/progress in person......I love your buildings.... 8) 8)

Frank,
I think your roofs (roves?) look great, nice contrast between them.  I just did a metal roof twice, too.  Not sure my second attempt turned out as good as the first, but I won't be spending time on a third try!

I stopped by for and update - you have been working hard.  Looks great.  I have been using up all my AZ stones on the layout,  it won't belong before I will be out there to replenish my supply and take advantage of your nice weather. I think the Jeep will be a little heavier on the way back. I will give you a call next week.

Frank,

Hope you and Mrs. Frank had a great time at the high class party. A party requiring a tux is most definitely "high class"!

The structures look great. I'd stay a little longer but I have a railroad to build. Talk later.
