Frank, I like the last set up, short building by the short wall and taller by the taller. Just my opinion!

Andy,

Good Eye.
The problem is that I forgot to take the large wall out of the shot, so the wall will be uniform height behind all the buildings. MY BAD. The shorter wall will prevail. Did not see that problem when I took the photo. The placement of the buildings are what I feel will show them and their surroundings, especially the Darnell's building. I have a lot of automotive junk to place on the right side of the building. I think when it is fully scenicked, you will agree. Thank you for your comments. Glad you are enjoying the build.

John,
Top of the Morning. thank you for stopping by and your kind words. Yes, there are a lot of structures in this pic and on the layout. I've thought of doing a structure count, but it would only let me know how many more I need to complete the layout. Looks like you enjoyed your trip to Alaska. Did you do the 8 hour ride on the Yukon & White Pass RR. We were there in 2010. My wife took the 4 hr ride and I took the 8 hour ride. i am officially now known as a "foamer". Beautiful country. Too bad all the jewelry stores are spoiling the atmosphere of Alaska. Did you also ride the Alaska Railroad? Beautiful ride up to Denali.

Thanks again for stopping by.

We did the 4hr ride...magnificent!

Also, rode the Alaska RR to Denali on the Vistadome.

The whole trip felt like a giant layout!

John,

Glad you had a nice ride. If you ever get back check out the 8 hr ride. There was even talk of extending the eight hour farther into Canada. And as you mentioned, the Alaska RR is a beautiful ride. How was the weather? We did the trip in September and the weather was just right. Beautiful part of the globe.
Well, back to working on the scenery. Have a great day.

John,

I have been making some progress on Darnell's Auto and thought you might want to see it. The retainer wall behind the building has been installed, primed and painted. Lichen has been added to a portion of the wall. There is also a third building added to Darnell's for junk and stuff. Speaking of junk, to the right of the new building are a few junk vehicles. More are in the works along with rims, tires, etc... assorted car parts. Scenery and details are continuing to be placed in this location. I have a lot more junk, gas station components to be added. The raised main tracks in the background need painting and ballast. Perhaps a tree or two might be added later. Enjoy.

I really really like the white and orange color scheme, of course I'm a little prejudiced in liking orange  ;)

Jan,

Here is an updated photo of work done today on this scene. You will notice the car on the lift along with more greenery. The junk yard portion of this scene is filling up with - JUNK. I need to get a good angle to show off this area. The box car currently is in the way.  Thank you for stopping by.

Good Morning Steve and everyone else,

Well, the hiccup with the server has given me some time to respond to you. Actually, I have been working in several areas, as you can well imagine. Too much time in one area gets tiring. So-o-o, I moved back to the west end of Ironia and continued my tree planting. Don't ask how many, but there are several hundred and more to go. The gap on the upper level center-ish will be filled in as soon as I paint a false tree backdrop. I have the topside creeper in place to do it today.  I also need to fill in the ground cover with light green clump foliage at the mine turnoff.

Oops, sorry for the delay. The wife just came in to give my orders for the day. RIGHT. How about maybe later?!!! Yard work. Right now I am busy in the train room. Well, anyway, enjoy the pic.

All that rain you guys are getting is sure helping the vegetation grow on your layout.  Great work it's looking better every day.

Good Morning John,

The rain has sure given me time to plant trees. the trees around Little Falls and the hillside in the background have been filling in.  Actually I have been painting the backdrop trees and planting the foreground trees. I still need to add a few more foreground trees, but I like what I am seeing. It is amazing how many trees are in such a small area. I might just have to get some more pine trees, much to my wife's dismay.

Hpe to get more time in the room today. Russ is coming down this afternoon to help me with electrical on a switch machine. I have four machines to replace in the mine area. They are the old PFM/ Fulgarex machines that I bought years ago and are being replaced. Very awkward to get to, especially the lead switch to the mine. Took me several hours of cutting, re cutting the wooden support, they cutting and shaping the throw rod. Done now and works fine manually and will be up and operational later today.

enjoy the pic.
