Hi Tom:

Here's what I did to my Varrick's.

Added the following:

Stone foundation, freight platform, cornice on front wall---had to raise side walls to match cornice height and add the cornice tops on side walls, Awnings, castings on front wall, awnings, stairs, railings, door and lamp over door on side wall, Shutters on side wall windows, roof entrance and stack on roof.

I still have this one. As I said I like Doug's background kits.

Tom; Send me a PM about parts OK.

Here's some photos:

Hi Tom:

Here's A photo of the parts if you want them. Send me A PM with your phone # OK.  Only thing I couldn't find was the barrel with the chair on top of it. I look around though OK.

By the way the freight platform is scratch built.

Karl,

Your Varick Freight build is absolutley wonderful. Of course, I already had the photo in my file.

I did send you the PM about the parts along with my phone number.

Due to the changes I'll be making to the kit, I needed the front wall to be higher. I was going to cut a piece of random clapboard siding and glue it to the top.

However, if I get the parts from Karl he showed above my plan will change but only a little. My build will be a rectangular structure and not the actual flat.

Here is the original front wall section.

Not wanting to cut and add the extra piece to the top, I'm using a larger section of the siding. I got the siding from Northeastern Lumber at the Lancaster Expo..

More in a few.

I turned both pieces of clapboard face down on the work bench and traced the original wall section on the back of the larger piece. First, I made sure both walls were square to each other.

I held the top piece firm against the bottom piece and traced the openings.

After cutting the door and windows open on the new piece, I'll have another front wall section but one that is much higher. I'm not sure yet how much higher I need it to be but I can always cut a few boards off the top.

Several years ago Reading Bob sent George Sellios a few pictures of clapboard wall signs he photographed. George liked them so much he used them on several on the structures on the F&SM.

Here is a scanned photo of one of many I got from Reading Bob.

This is the sign I plan to add to the track side, side wall.

Recognize the wall section?

Here it is one the F&SM. George also has this sign on one other structure. This is the great sign I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread.

Very nice!  What software are you using to size the sign?
