I always wondered what it looked like from the inside.

Jim

Here are some early under construction inside views.

Interesting view from inside the Ovalix.  Good to see that your MOW crew are on top of the Irma mess and ready to go!

Mark,

Thanks for stopping by. The MOW crew tied everything down for Irma and we all survived.

I figured you would have walked back there and checked it out.  You probably wouldn't even need to duck to get back there.   ;D ;D ;D ;)

I'm glad Bob said it! Not that I wouldn't have. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Leo and Lorrie,

Thank you. Haydee was one of Pam's best friends. She had some dental work done, got an infection from the work and developed a staph infection. The infection got into her heart and then brain. She literally lingered for almost 8 months.

I mentioned earlier in the thread I'll be back on the layout work full time starting tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 18.

I'd also missed a golden opportunity to add a little real life to the layout thread.

Yesterday, the Judge came over and mentioned we should have built a small area where the trees were all down and junk all over the place. That would have really been neat after the Irma storm.

However, I mentioned to the Judge one important thought.

Who was going to clean it all up? 8) 8)

I'll have an update on my latest project tomorrow evening.

HA, I wouldn't bet any money on that  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have a confession of sorts to make.

I'm not sure if it's a hold over from the NMRA open house, Hurricane Irma or what.  No matter how I feel, I can't seem to get interested in the layout work. I've been this way for a few weeks now.

I was speaking to Frank Baker, Erieman, this afternoon and he said he went through a similar period after the MRR shoot with Lou Sassi. Frank said he is getting over it but still has the same issue.

Maybe I need more Diet Pepsi, I've been cutting back and attempting to drink more water. ;D ;D ;D

I'm sure it will pass but for now I'm just getting by on a few, okay, 1-2 hours a day in the layout room. I come in, look around, turn around, turn off the lights, leave and lock the door.

However, I do have a little update.

For a few weeks now I've been trying to get to work on the oil structure and tank car loading platform.

I was going to scratch build the tank car platform but decided it would make more sense to use the Walters kits as they have all the goodies like pipes, racks, platform hoses, etc.

I plan on kit bashing the four kits shown above into one long platform to service the tank cars. One platform will service four tankers and I have room to service 10. So, three boxes would fit the bill but I'll have an extra in case I need a smaller one on the third level.

Back in a few, I'm going to chug-a-lug a nice cold Diet Pepsi.

In this same area, I'll use the Walthers Interstate Fuel & Oil facitity. This kit has four tanks and an area where I can have fuel oil service to fuel trucks.

I'm not sure I'll use the quonset hut building but it is period appropriate for the A&S RR.

We used to have a large gas plant here in Orlando. The tanks were black and nasty not to mention it smelled really bad, but I love going by it as a kid.

Smoke was coming out of the stacks and steam from many of the pipe fittings. It was wonderful and I loved it.

George Sellios painted his fuel tanks a Grimy Black. I'm thinking about silver tanks and Grimy black pipes and platforms. Any thoughts ya'll have on this. I put this at the bottom to see who is actually reading vs. just picture surfing. 8) 8)

Hey Tom,
First off, I'm sure it's natural to get a little burned out at the pace you were going to get ready for the open house.  Sit back, crack open a DP and enjoy.  The use of both of those kits will make for a very active, and great looking scene.  Looking forward to seeing it built and up and running!
