Beautiful work Tom!  All those scenes makes me feel like I'm standing there in Florida again!

I agree.....oh wait, I AM in Florida......Looks great Tom.

Jim

Jim,

Thanks Butty and I'm glad you are in Florida as well.

Okay, here's my story and I'm sticking to it.

My goal was to have the second level, outside wall area of the layout finished by the end of the year. It appears now it isn't going to happen.

I'll assume the blame due to my own indolence at times. Last months two week Acute Bronchitis and a possible up coming hand surgery just put me out of the mood.

However, I haven't been idle either.

I mentioned on the daily baggage thread that I was going to do some layout clean up. It didn't really involve actual layout cleaning but rather cleaning the layout room.

More in a few. I need a cold Diet Pepsi.

I'm starting to think and getting excited about moving on to the third level of the layout. Prior to getting started with that project, I felt a definite need to reorganize all the stuff under the layout.

I have many of the same type items, like kits, Floquil paint, and freight cars, etc. all over the room and under the layout.

I wanted to get them all in one place so that when I'm looking for something, I can hopefully find it.

I'll start with the extra Floquil paints. I found all the paint I could and placed it all in one spot.

I

I put all the paint in one large Rubbermaid tub. Now, if I find anymore, I can put it in the tub with the rest - all in one place.

Freight cars, passenger cars and locos all over and under the layout.

I cleaned out a place under the west side of the layout.

I have four small 6 drawer cabinets I got from Ikea. They are great for storing freight cars.

Frank Baker, Erieman, told me about a product he got from Bed, Bath and Beyond. It is a rubber shelf and drawer liner.

I have these six drawers to line.

One roll covered all six drawers in one cabinet.

Fast forward and I've put all the extra freight cars in the one cabinet.

I had many Mini Metal cars and trucks in three different drawers.

These were all put in the one tub and any others found will go here also.

I did the same thing with some locos and passenger cars.

I now have two drawers under the west side of the layout and out of the way.

Those cabinets are great , have to visit IKEA, but not tomorrow , tomorrow the Force will be strong where I'm going.
I love photo's, don't we all.

I found all my CCk and FOS kits and needed two tubs to get them out of the way. I had these kits in four different places.

I would buy a new kit and just place it where I found a space. Now I have them in two tubs under the center level and all in one place.

Jan,

I got my first two for under $100.00 each. The Judge liked them and when he bought the other two they were around $122.00 each. God only knows what they are now. I've had these for 5+ years.

They are the Alex series here , 100 euro's , but sometimes these are in the slightly damaged or sale area. Have to keep a look out for them.

Sincerely hope to see all of those brass "blue boxes" operating in the very near future!
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

Tom,

Your room looks more like a hobby shop rather than a home layout.  And a  damn fine hobby store / layout!

After having a good laugh, i found out that I needed to move stuff in my train room so the window cleaner can get to the few windows that I have in the building. Of course, the windows are over my work areas and there is a major pile of stuff everywhere. I found things I have been looking for. Sounds familiar?

Have a great day my friend with your project.

Frank / Erieman
