Wow - look at all the new space to fill with all those wonderful kits you have stashed under the layout.  The benchwork looks great.

Tom you have mad carpenter skills 8) . I forget, is the bookcase a built in or a removable one?

Curt,

Thank you kind sir, I'm just trying to get it correct the first time around. Patience, patience and more patience.

The bookcase is free standing, er, well it used to be but now it is part of the layout and the layout is part of the bookcase. The book case and layout are both removable but it will be after my burial. ;D ;D

John,

Yes, lots of new space for track and structures. At last count I have around 200+ unbuilt kits under the layout - some where.

Steve,

Thank you, the benchwork was fun but I'm happy it's coming to and end. I'm Looking forward to some new track.

Wiring can be a nightmare if not planned correctly. I don't need to tell you how I have all this knowledge. :-X :-X

All the plywood decking on the west side of the layout is now screwed to the benchwork, yea!

As I was working on the 9.5" wide section, I realized the space under the decking would be to tight for me to get under there and solder the track feeder wires to the buss wires.

I cut a six inch piece of wire, red and white, and soldered one end to the track buss wires. Now, when dropping the feeders in that area all I need to do is grab the wires, twist and solder them together. The soldered feeders can than be shoved up under the layout.

I had a short section of Masonite hardboard and clamped it to the side of the third level as shown below. I just wanted to see how it will look. The piece in the photo is 3.5". I'll be adding one that is 4.5" side.

Tom,

Very nice progress on the upper level. Could you take a couple of pics with the lower lighting on in these shots please. Really can't wait to see track and scenery on the upper level. What's taking you so long?!!! Beautiful work my friend. You are obviously feeling better.

John,

Thank you, come on by whenever you are in the area again. I think you will really like the second level lighting effect.

Morning Frank,

Thank you and yes, I'm feeling much better. I figured I'd get busy on the layout prior to another injury of something else that will keep me down. Seems like every time I get really motivated, my body puts me on a side track. :'( :'(

The only third level benchwork left is over the Suwanee River Lagoon.

I do have several new photos of the lighting under the new third level addition. I'll get them cropped and up later this afternoon.

Mike,

Thank you, much appreciated. Not really worried about the removal. My children have seen the layout and understand what needs to be done.

I have a file of how I did things so it will be easier to remove most of the dioramic scenes with little damage.

Always thinking ahead I guess.
