Great thread, Tom. You are cranking along at a nice clip. Looks great.

I thought I was the only one that sanded down a cork ramp by hand for an hour at a time. Glad to see there's some other misery out there, too. Gotta be a way to do that with spackle and a couple of skinny plastic or wood triangles or something.....

Going to look great , and I hope you don't mind that one day I will copy this , up till now I have the exact same buildings for my engine facility's , only a scale smaller. So happy with you sharing all your " how to do's ".

Jam,

Thank you, I'm really excited about this area. I'm honored you want to copy this plan. All I can say is that it works for me. And, I'm happy to share all the "how I do it info". Also, I've made one addition for the better to the outbound tracks.

ACL 1504,

Nice job on cleaning up all the tracks.  Did you break out your new track cleaner?  Kp-out...

Thom,

Thanks, yes, I did use the track cleaner but it doesn't look like yours. ;D ;D ;D

Vince,

Thank you, much appreciated. I try to get as much done as I can when the mood hits me.

I've been sanding the cork roadbed for about 20+ years. Sometimes just to smooth it on the top and to make transitions ramps. The problem using spackle is it shrinks and still needs to be sanded. Woodland Scenics has some type of foam ramp but I wanted to build my own.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Judge was over this morning and I was telling him I think I need a second outbound track. He agreed and I said, "Okay, stand back".

The second outbound track will go between the water tower and the current outbound track.

I started by making the decision to place the turnout at the curved section of the current outbound track.

Fast forward and 90 minutes later we had the second outbound track.

The engineer on the 2-10-0 didn't get the memo that this is an outbound track.  ;D ;D

The roundhouse, turntable  and reverse tracks are now complete.

Here's a view of the inbound tracks prior to the second outbound track being installed.

On another note, I caught the Judge bringing up the L&N South Wind passenger train. The head end power is two L&N E-6 units. Here the South Wind is coming off the Ovalix track onto the A&S RR mainline.

The E-6 AA lash up was spotted at the lubritorium for some general maintenance. L&N L1 4-8-2 was given the job to pull the train. We spotted the L1 steamer at the Sandlando Crossing. It appears to be just out of the shop.

The L&N is a Key Imports brass locomotive and professionally painted by the president of the A&S RR.

That looks like a fully functional engine terminal!  It's been fun to watch it evolve.

Dave,

Thank you, I think I'll get a lot of use out of this area. The possibilities are endless.

I still need to add the sand bin and drying house along with the sand towers.

Jim,

The invitation is always open my friend. Why don't you plan on coming over on Saturday, July 21, and join the Judge and I for lunch.

Oh, and thank you Butty for the compliment.
