Track laying continues on the A&S RR.  On the southeast corner of the third level is where the large diesel facility will be located. On the old layout I was using a smaller version from Walthers.

This is the old diesel facility as shown on the old layout.

Over the past few years, this one has been moved around so many times it got broken in a few places. I removed the roof vents, repair platforms and trashed the rest.

For the new diesel facility, I'll be using Walthers, Railroad Shop structure. Also, Walthers Heavy Duty Overhead Crane will fit inside. This will be a great detail once I get it all together.

Additional update tomorrow evening.

The only thing I liked about using Homosote over plywood was the fact I could counter sink the large Kadee (#308) uncoupling magnet into the Homosote.

You could ballast over the magnet, mark it with a post or barrel and uncouple all you wanted.

The smaller ones fit over the ties and between the rails and doesn't look that great.

I came up with an idea to get the larger uncoupling magnet under the track using HO scale cork roadbed.

In the photo below you can see the magnet between the two sections of cork.

The magnet is a little higher than the cork. When my Code 83 ME track is placed over the magnet, it doesn't fit flush.

I removed the ties over the magnet and this allowed the track to sit flush or just above the magnet. Perfect!

I cut an edge off a scrap piece of cork and glued it to the side of the magnet. Ballast will cover the sides.

This test magnet area is on an industrial siding on the third level as shown below.

The YouTube was neat. It's fun watching your progress, it's a great blue print for how to construct a layout. Glad to see you back.

I've kind of hit a wall on my own slow efforts. Hopefully reading about your adventures (along with the Judges recounting the fabled history of the A & S) will get me going again.
