I glued the concrete pads for the stairs and lower front door in place.

I then removed the two fence sections. I cut toothpicks in half and inserted them in the fence post holes fat end down. This allows me to find the holes once the glued is covering the yard area.

I don't want a thick layer of glue in the yard so I squeezed some out and used a soft 3/4" brush to spread the dirt. I'm using Scenic Express Fine Natural Soil and Dirt, # SE0403.

Once I spread this out, I added more until I had the whole yard covered as shown below.

I used a clean soft 1" brush to spread the dirt.

Yet another fit for the office.

The toothpicks were then removed making sure the post holes were open.

The fences were then glued in place. Instead of attempting to put a drop of glue at the hole, I applied the glue to the bottom of the fence posts and then planted them.

Done for now.

Yo Tom,
I was wondering.  Is one of the "junk" items an old coke cola machine?

Time to come out of lurking mode.

Tom, I've been following your scenery projects from the beginning. I'm always amazed at how nice they turn out. I've always wondered how one gets such nice scenes.  Your methods have given me great confidence in trying my own when it comes to finally doing some scenery. One thing I've also observed is how you guys do your buildings and then incorporate them into the scenery by using a base to build them on at the bench and then "plant" them on the layout.

Great thread. Always looking forward to your posts.

Mark, Cheers,

Thank you, much appreciated. I really like the SE dirt. It comes in fine, medium and course. I pretty much use the fine exclusively.
