I'll fast forward here and say the walls were painted with Floquil Reefer White diluted with thinner. I thinned it enough so the walls would still reveal the A&I stain under the paint.

Jim included in the kit some great signs. He didn't include any Pepsi signs but there are many Cocoa Cola signs.

There is a great space on one side wall for a sign. I tried two different signs. The first is a fruit sign. :-X :-X

The second one is a soda sing, Pepsi.

I decided to use the Pepsi sign and use the melons on another build.

I used some fine sandpaper to thin the back of the sign. I then applied some white glue to the rear of the sign. The glue softened the sign. When using white glue with a paper sign, be sure you have the spot for the sign ready. Once on the wall it is there and can't be moved.

The water content in the glue softens the paper and it becomes very thin and will more than likely tear if you try to remove it.

When I had the sign in place, I pressed it to the siding using my thumb. I then used a toothpick and carefully pushed the paper sign into the siding. Don't use the point but the edge of the toothpick to push the sign in.

I added bracing where it would support the second story floor. I then glued the rear and right side walls together.

I then glued this sub assembly to the cafe base making sure the walls were straight.

Notice the slot and tab on the corners? This will be covered with 1X6 boards later in the build.

The added rear interior wall is in place but not yet glued. I need to add a few signs to this wall prior to gluing it in place.

Nice wall work, its a real art to get them painted just right that the A/I just shows through. Sign looks good on the wall although I prefer the first choice  ;D

I think the first sign was more appropriate for the Tahope little people. 8) 8) 8) 8)

Lynn,

Thank you, much appreciated. I've learned through the years just how much thinning of the paint is required to achieve the effect. And, I always test on a scrap piece first as well.

I like the first sign also.

Vince,

Thank you also. As you already know I posted the BUXOM MELONS sign in the sign thread.

Jim,

Not to worry. I'm planning on placing a Miss Melons sign on the rear of the cafe. I'll be posting it later this evening.
