I remember paying 7 cents for a Coke, out of a machine, no less.  This was around '53 or '54

John,

My fondest memories of coke is going to the local construction sights, collecting the empty bottles and taking them to the store for a 10 cent return for each bottle.

My cousin and I could easily get 5.00 every weekend. Of course we put 30 miles on our bikes doing it. Our handle bar baskets and the two saddle bag style baskets were full. Oh the noise they made. A few got broken in the process.

I got a little done this afternoon on the cafe.

I showed this photo yesterday - blank rear wall.

A few signs added.

The rear wall is now glued in place.

Here is an interior view with the ceiling in place. I still need to add LED ceiling lights.

Here is a shot of the rear wall.

Why show it you ask? Well since my BUXOM MELONS signage was so popular, I'll resize it and fit it on the rear wall. After all, the south is known for it citrus!

By the way, this is a very real brand for citrus. We all know it wouldn't be allowed now with the NOW group. Just saying.

More in a few. No Diet Pepsi break, I've already had one.

I also changed the cafe signage to read TAHOPE CAFE.

These signs were very simple and not as fancy as the NEW ERIE CAFE sign.

With a nice interior will you be liting the building? Ok so how did you change the writing on the sign? Oh and happy to see the Melons,  sign back, in back , on the back wall :)

George,

Thank you for the kind compliment, I appreciate you following along on this one.

The floor came with the kit. I copied it somewhere but now can't remember what file I put it in. I'll keep looking and post it here.

Lynn,

Thank you as well, much appreciated. Yes, I will be lighting the interior and maybe one over an outside door. I'm also going to light the Tahope sign. More on this later in the build.

The melon sign will be added within the next few days.

I use a program called IRFANVIEW for my photos. It is a free program and down load.

I copied the sign into my photo thread. I brought up the photo and using the "edit" heading dropped down to "show paint dialog". In "paint dialog" I boxed the New Erie Cafe and used the eraser to remove it.

In paint dialog, I clicked on the "A", this give you a little star to click where you want the new wording. Also, when you do this, a box opens for you to type your message. When finished, highlight the new wording and then click OK. It puts the new message in the sign. This is what you get.

Hope this helps.

I added just two more signs to the right side interior wall.

Included in the kit are several booths, a lunch counter, a small cabinet and many very small, in fact very tiny, bottles for mustard, ketchup and sugar.

The booths have tops and the lunch counter has some stool tops. Yes, they all need to be made and painted. More on that later in the thread.

The front wall is very warped from the A&I and painting.

Back in a few, I need a Diet Pepsi.

This is the only place on the front wall you can brace.

The small window frames aren't big/wide enough for bracing and it would also interfere with the front window glass.
