Hey, maybe Raymo can come up with an A/C repair truck to park out front.   ;)

Nice touch with the roof A/C , my son is an Hvac guy, I'll see if he has time to jump up on the roof.
The chimney's look great, whats your technique? I struggle with chimney colors.

Lynn,

Thank you for the kind compliment. I think I have an AC guy on the roof now.

Chimneys are very easy.

I used the stock chimneys that came with the kit. I added a white wash for the mortar and let dry. The next day I simply dry brushed on some Floquil Freight Car Brown. Any brown or dark red color will do. The key is to dry brush the brick color so it doesn't get into the mortar lines. I then dip the entire chimney into the Hunterline Light Gray A&I. Set aside to dry on a napkin or paper towel. I painted the inside of the chimney and top with flat black.

Easy peasy.

Hi Tom,

The project is looking great Tom.  The roof details are something that most of us would forget about.  Looks fantastic.

Steve,

Thank you, much appreciate the support on the build. This roof will be up front so I needed to add the details.

Love the leaking A/C unit.  That's a really nice touch that helps to put a fine build over the top!   :D

Bob,

Thank you my friend. I'm glad you got to see it up close last Saturday. I've thought about a leaky AC unit before but all the other kits had slopped roof tops. I was going to add a leak to the AC unit on Sweaty Betty's but forgot.

Tom,

What do you mean, "final photos"?  It looks fabulous and these aren't the final photos?  I love all the little extra touches that you add.  Just beautiful!

Jerry,

Thank you for the generous and kind compliment.

Yes, final photos will be posted within the hour. I had to finish up some small details. I like adding extra touches to my kits so they are quite different than the stock ones everyone else builds.

Bob,

I agree, a service truck or AC repair truck will be perfect. Raymo, you listening my good and faithful friend?

Bob, do you think I over did the sappiness part? ;D ;D

The Tahope Cafe is finally finished. This kit was a little harder than I first thought. However, I think I created my own agony since I deviated from the instructions in gluing the five walls together.

I'm very pleased with the overall look of the cafe in the finished model, even without my extra details.

I did forget to mention how I did the exterior plumbing pipes. I used Chooch Enterprises HO Exterior Plumbing Pipes, Part #7117.

I used two, cut them to fit the building and super glued them together. I used Floquil Old Silver and when dry, stained them with Floquil Pine Tar Oil. The pine tar oil is from Floquil's marine color line, no longer available.

I finished bracing the stairs and second story platform.

I also added the kitchen exhaust unit. I painted it with Floquil Old Silver and while still tacky, added Bragdon Rust powder.

I added the small goose neck over the kitchen door. This goose neck is not lit.

When I finish a structure, I find a place on the bottom to add the date it was finished. I also add my initials.

I had a little fun and added my initials to the roof in the form of tar repairs. No one caught this prior to now but they were there on the last postings.

When viewed from the top the T E L is obvious.

Lastly, I called the AC repair man. He got on the roof to look at the leaky unit.

His assessment of the leak, "Yep, looks like a permanent leak to me!"
