Missing the rivets was not my error it seems as studying the picture of the model on the box cover reveals the total absence of rivets.
Not a single rivet in sight. So this must be an upgrade but the instructions or box photo were not updated. Having said that the rivet detail is awesome if not a little fiddly now I have "boxed" myself in so to speak.

Manipulating rivets around parts that have already been fixed into position is a pain. The rivets themselves are very delicate and need to be handled with care otherwise they break away.
I think the rivets needed to be fixed to the grey cover sheets of the crane parts at stage C of this construction. I have had to cut some of the long rivet cover sheets into smaller pieces to manipulate around the glued parts. Hey ho.

Hurray the rivets are done!

Mike,

Great job on the rivets. They really changed the look of the crane. Must have been a tedious job but they do look fantastic.

Mike,

Adding the rivets really makes this crane look amazing.  I'm having a great time following along.

The rivets really make it look great.  Can't even blame you for missing them by not reading the instructions.   :)

Hey Mike:

Looks great so far. The kit I'm bouilding has over 300 single NBW castings in it. I'm done to. Thank goodness.

Lynnb

I'm no rivet counter but that is a lot of rivets and really makes it.

Thanks Tom, Jerry, Jeff, Karl and Lynn for your support.
Here is the walkway. I did not do a step by step as I did not five hands. 13 supports, a walkway and two support rails and a lot of c------g!
It is designed to go along the side but guess what the rivets are now in the way and have to be trimmed back!
BTW the kit designer included three times as many supports in the kit just in case I messed up.

And the walkway is attached..............

Step G is making the cabin.
The windows need to be glazed and then the outer facings are added. Without instructions I have found it is best to have a dry run.
The sides go on first as the front overlaps it - how do I know that?
It is not immediately obvious that the back needs to be curved by hand before glueing.
The kit has two versions of the covering for the cabin - metal or wooden - I elected to have wood.

Next the bottom pieces have to be fixed carefully so the cabin will rotate.
Two rails (paper) are fixed to the sides. Cutting these precisely so they fit was a trial.

The kit continues to surprise me. There are no mention in the drawings of these laser cut rings. I cut them up and cleaned the teeth and glued them together.Eureka! they fit around the wooden dowel under the cabin and represent the gears which move it around. The cabin rotates really easily now.
Sorry about the pictures black does not show up very well.

Here is the kit so far with the harbour sheds.

Moving along to step I.............these are the parts for the top of the crane. The parts are very delicate and I found two sets of parts numbered 85 which are completely different. There is no 83 so I have renumbered the part. It's complicated..........
