Tom..........

If your program has a color balance capability.........  Given the colors shown above, turn down the green or sho e up the blue and experiment.

Often these programs don't know what to do with the altered data or missing stuff so you might need to turn back up the contrast.

Below is one of the photos you put up with only the simplest alterations.

don't be afraid to push stuff around.  Just always rename stuff so you keep your originals.

Did you ever notice how many towns are named after their water towers ! ?

Bob,

Thank you very much for the information. I'll try the green and blue thing. I'll let you know how I do!

Thanks for posting more great photo's of this wonderful layout Tom!

I'm going to try really hard to emulate the colors/finish of the roof top piping/cyclone that Cliff did on Crocker Bros. Feed Mill when I work on my Fox Run Milling build.  I love it!   :D

Thanks everyone for the kind comments!  Tom, the pictures look great and feature photo angles that I've never used before.  It's always neat to see how the layout appears through the lens of others!!  I appreciate you sharing my work with everyone here.  I'm looking forward to contributing to the forum as well.  I thought I'd post a couple of my favorite shots from the area you have presented thus far.  I'm looking forward to your next installment!

Cliff,

Welcome to the forum. Your layout is amazing and easy on the eyes. As I noted to Tom, your lighting is simply marvelous. Can you elaborate of what you used to get the daylight color. Beautiful job. Keep posting those wonderful pictures. Very nice indeed and look forward to more of your beautiful layout.

Cliff,

Thank you for checking in and posting a few thoughts. We are happy you've decided to pull up a chair and stay for a spell! Have a RC Cola, Moon Pie and enjoy yourself. LOL! I wonder where I heard that!

I love the street level view of your photos! I see mine are mostly a "birds eye view"! I've been working on the colors for the photos as the last thing I want to do is  misrepresent the layout in a photograph or do a disservice to your talents.

Also, I'm sure I speak for all forum members in saying we look forward to your participation on the forum.

Thank you for letting me photograph your layout as well as allowing me to show them here.

PS: I didn't miss the CP + JJ love note on the fence in the second photo!

Bart,

Thank you for following along and it has been my pleasure in meeting Cliff, seeing this fantastic layout and posting the photos here.

As soon as I saw The Magnolia Route on Allen Keller's DVD, I moved this layout to the top of my "MUST SEE" layout list even ahead of the F&SM. The F&SM is back to #1. Also, the few hours my Babe and I had to meet Cliff and see the layout was well worth the 9+ hours one way drive!

I really missed out in not getting more pictures in the area of the country store. It was a great scene. Ok, here is my excuse - I was a guest of Cliff's and didn't want to stick my camera to far in the scene. I had a visitor break a couple of trees on my layout doing the very same.

Cliff's farm scene was a fantastic area to view. The transition from the country to the farm was very subtle. One minute you are watching the swimmers in the river and next thing you know you've passed the store and traveling through the farm area. Cliff shows how he made the planted field in the Allen Keller DVD. If you don't have the DVD you should get it. It's an excellent DVD.

Cliff also did an excellent job in using the digital background photos. Everything just seemed to be photographed for that one area where they were used.

Using the digital photo in the next photo was a stroke of genius. See how Cliff made it appear the farm is on a higher elevation than the reat of the scene?

This next scene really caught my eye. I noticed an area of modeling I've never seen on other layouts. Its the area around the drain pipe under the driveway but better viewed in the second photo.

Notice how the ditch area has a slight look of white or very light gray? We've all seen this in ditches after the rain and the ditch has dried. A very thin coating of silt is left on the ditch vegetation.

Also, note the bracing of the utility poles. This prevents the pole from bending against the pressure of the wires.

We will soon be leaving the farm area. First, we need to pass under, in my case that would be over the old wooden overpass, round the corner and take a few additional looks back at the farm.

We now leave the farm area and travel a little down the dirt road to another great scene. Do I hear church bells? "We shall gather at the river, the beautiful,--------" Oh wait, I've already been to the river.

More later this week. I want this adventure to last!
