Hello Grumpy, I mean err, Tom. I'm enjoying your build as always. I never fail to learn something new from your threads.    Jeff

Tom,

I bought this kit after seeing you start this thread.  I've been following along to see how you modified it, especially the roof.  Wonderful modeling, as I have come to expect from all your threads.  And, lots of food for thought when I start my own build.

Jerry,

This is a very nice kit. Hopefully you can follow what I'm doing. I have more to share later this evening on the kit so stay tuned.

Oh, thank you very much for the kind and generous compliment.

Hey Tom:

Coming along nicely. Can't to see the finished product.

Karl

Karl,

Thanks very much. I can't wait either as I have another one to start. A mystery to share later.

Thanks Tom for the explanation. I have a tendency to post more pictures with less words.
I feel pretty comfortable with the forums format. It's as good if not better than the other one.
As far as pictures go I'm sure you may have noticed I host my own pictures on my website. Much easier than up loading to the forum and using up valuable disk space. I find a 1024 pixel width picture works fine. If I want to do a bigger picture so you can see the details better I use my website to post a larger picture in another tab. I've also learned to use a word processor to write my post. I've lost to many posts the other way.

Bernd

Bernd,

No problem and I was happy to explain. On the old forum I used the 1024 pixel format for my photos. Here, I use 750 as that seems to be large enough to show what I'm doing.

Jeff,

Grumpy will do as my wife often says, "Why are you so grumpy?" I respond, I'm grumpy cause I'm old and can be grumpy.  :-X

Thank you for the nice support on the thread. Glad you are getting something from my builds.

Okay, I'm a little behind on this one so I'll get caught up tonight.

The building front has seven pillars.

I used a #17 Xacto to remove them from the carrier piece. The small tabs are delicate so take your time. I failed to do so and broke a couple.

From the photo below, looks like I broke four. The small white spots are missing a broken piece. These won't show after painting and will explain later.

Here is a side view of one of the pillars. The top has a larger section than the bottom. Be sure you know the difference.

Back in a few. The Babe needs me and I need a Diet Pepsi. :P

Here are the four pieces that go in the front. The two door pieces and above the door windows.

The two door pieces are "peel and stick" and one fits over the other as shown below.

I studied the door and door opening and determined that you can cut off the sides of the top piece to make it fit flush. You can also make this a screen door.

If desired, you can remove the side where you see the small laser burn cut at the top of the door. I did experiment and it really doesn't look bad fit flush with the wall section.  Shown below.

NOTE: If you use a screen door, be very careful when removing the sides. I pulled the door apart at the door knob and will need to glue it back in place.

The small window piece fits here, at the top. Yes, it is crooked but not yet glued.

I glued the seven pillars to the front top wall piece and let dry over night. I used some long weights to hold them until the glue dried.

Here is a view of the top piece with pillars and the bottom piece.

NOTE: The seven pillars are glued at the bottom of the front wall and flush with the bottom.

The next photo shows the top and bottom walls placed together. They are not glued at this time. I need to paint the two wall sections separately first.

And, here is the store front wall under the front top wall section.

Done for this evening.

Tom,

Not sure if you mentioned it earlier, but this kit lacks instructions.  It is a "bare bones" offering from Ken and he is very clear about the lack of an instruction sheet.  Why do I make a point of this?  Easy, your clear explanation and photos will make assembling this kit a breeze for me.  I won't have to sit and compare the pieces and try to figure out where they belong.  Thanks for paving the way so to speak, and making my build so much faster and easier.   ;D ;D ;D

Jerry,

Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate you following along on this one.

Yes, I did mention in the first part of the thread that Kenny was clear "No Instructions" were included. I'm happy to pave the way on this kit. I usually don't follow all instructions when kit bashing but this one is pretty much standard.
