Opa George

Good morning, all,

Marty and Jim, thanks for the retirement advice yesterday. It's coming fast and I am still working out how I feel about it, but I know it's the right path for me.

Have a great Monday all, and for those of us still in the work game, once more into the breach.

Morning all,

No retirement for me this year (I'm jealous Opa George) although this year does mark one of the final hurdles to that end - I can enroll in Medicare later this year.   ;)

Back to work after a glorious week off.  I didn't get as much done at the workbench as I had hoped.  The inspiration wasn't there and I was distracted by a couple books I got for X-Mas.   ::)

Have a great one!

Good morning!  Good luck & have fun with retirement George!  New treadmill being delivered today after the old one finally gave up after 12 years.  Until it shows up I'll piddle around in the train room.

Morning, all.

Retirement?  Not here.  But this is my first week of starting part time.   :)  Two twelve hour days a week instead of three.  And do to a schedule quirk and trading a day, I'm off until Saturday.   ;D   My actual retirement is probably 3 years from now.  Will start the second of my build challenges today.

Good morning.

Teens to start the day with wind chills in the single digits.  Forecast is for highs in the 20's this afternoon.  Looks like another day to hunker down inside where it is warm.

Everyone have a safe and productive day!

Good Morning Folks;

We are back from our two week cruise in Caribbean. It was nice but perhaps two days too long. Good to be home.

Opa George hopefully you will enjoy retirement as much as I have.  It's just the getting older that keeps messing it up.

Hope to get organized and back in the groove today. Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning all,

I had a 7 AM pre-op appointment this morning. All is on schedule for Thursday at this point.

George will soon be a member of the "Everyday is Saturday except Sunday Club". He'll soon find out he didn't know how he found the time to go to work.

I'll be attempting to finish a build challenge this morning.

Have a great day.

Good Morning All,

George I retired at 58. We calculated that continuing to work really didn't change anything financially long term. I was a little lost initially but my wife convinced me to get back into MRR'ing.

Have some chores then I'm going to mix some hobby paint for the build which I will probably start this weekend. I'm projecting about 3 weeks for the build.

I hope everyone has a good day.

A heavy wet snow  is falling in Palmyra Virginia (20 miles southeast of Charlottesville).  So far looks like about 5". Won't impact my day that much except I will not get my walk. Three projects in various stages of construction.  I'll have another cup of coffee and think about getting to work especially on BarMills Smoky Hill Fire Company.

Opa George- Remember the basic rule of retirement. You can always put off until tomorrow what you thought you needed to do today.

Morning. No retirement for me this year but I do talk more about it. My last day of a mini-vacation before going back to work full time.

Good morning!  It's Cold - single digits but no minus sign so we will take it. George - you are going to love retirement.  I found that the 10 - 12 hours a day, six days a week, that I was working filled up with things I like to do. It doesn't get any better than that. I hope everyone has a great day. From the F&SM:

Good Moring All,

We are still experiencing a cold front here in the Arizona Desert. At 8:43 it is 37 degrees. Frost is definately on the pumpkin although we dont have any. I think we have one more day of this, at least i hope so. My backyard looks like an encampment of burlap structures. No body living in them. Protecting some of our more frost sensitive cactus and plants.

I retired 14 years ago next month, so i must be one of the old farts on the forum. I thought retiring would give me more time for the railroad. Well. i was partially right. Lots of house projects, vacations, grandchildren, etc.. The layout is getting close to completion, if there is such a thing.

All the best to everyone on the forum.
