Rick

Good morning everyone.

Weather in my corner of Oregon: Showers likely, mainly after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and danish.
Have fun puttering with the details.

ACLTom, you'll get that shed mojo back soon.

Karl, have fun laying track.

Greg, hope there's more reading time today.

Dave, I bet I dislike yard work even more.
But, I do like getting my hands in the dirt to do some gardening.

Curt, I hope all of you keep recovering.

Philip, hope you got some of your decoder questions answered.

Mike, hope you don't have to go back to the dentist soon.

Ron, any bench time yesterday?

Jerry, what's new?

Dale, any modeling progress?

Did a nice 1 mile walk with Star up the old unpaved road here that looks like it hasn't been used for a long time.
Sat outside after lunch and enjoyed a cigar with my coffee.
Star and I will do a three mile hike this morning.
After the hike I'll back into town for a gym visit.

A video about the hike I did on Tuesday: https://youtu.be/UPGnU9C2VUY

Where I've been spending the past two days.

Good morning Karl, ACLTom, Larry, Rick and the rest of the crew that drop in later.

Thanks for the coffee and danish Larry, hope you make it to the bench.

Karl, have fun laying track.

ACLTom, I wouldn't call it burnout, I'd call it taking a break. ;D

Rick, enjoy your hike with Star.

Philip, If you are looking for someone to install a decoder for you, I can do that, I've been installing decoder since before pre-installed factory boards were a thing.

Currently 71 and cloudy here.  No modeling last night as I did some reading instead.  We shall see what tonight will bring.

Have a great day everyone.

A couple thoughts on Rick's latest photos:

1.  The location you're at in the first photo looks like it's from a model railroad.  That pocket of cliffs strikes me as unusual.  Could it have been a quarry site?

2.  The flatcar is also unusual, it's like those F&C PRR "gun flats" that have a single 'peak', rather than shallow U shape.

We started the morning with rain, but it stopped before I took the dogs out.  They're at the groomers today, so the house is unnaturally quiet.  A couple errands to run once the cleaners are done, then back to the train room.  (It's good the cleaners came today and the dogs went for grooming.  Titus rolled in some grass clippings yesterday and his long fur was full of sticks and junk.  Much of that fell off onto the floor.)

Morning everyone

Larry thanks for the coffee & danish.
Have fun puttering at the bench!

Karl hope you have fun in the train room.

Tom have fun cleaning the 3rd level.

Rick thanks for the picture.  Nice looking spot to camp in.
Did you get my text??

What book are you reading Ron?

Morning Dave.

Weather in South Jersey is cloudy/77. Late on 86.
This could be a beach day if the sun gets out.
I'm did do some details that go on the pier yesterday.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Good Morning!

Glad everyone is doing well or recovering. It has been a rough quarter.

I actually started a thread yesterday here and also contacted TSC support. All my concerns were answered.
Very responsive fellow named Bobby assisted me. Thanks for the offer Ron! I plan on installing it myself and have purchased all the sundry items. I'm waiting on a 6 pin mini connector from ebay. If I run into problems I'll certainly contact you.

The thread I started here was deleted after TSC contacted me. Is there any interest in a install thread?

Today is mow day in honor of Dave lol. I hear ya about yard work.

Some nice artifact shots Rick! The garden hoeing sucks for sure!

Larry, They should make a water craft mower, looking gloomy here also.

Tom that mojo will return!

We had a couple of Orioles a couple of year ago K9, really a good looking animal.

Morning Curt, Hope all is well!

How bout ya Tom O? Greg? Mike?

We haven't heard from Rob or Kyle in a while. How bout ya?

Did anyone ever contact Roland or Big Lars & invite them over?

Hey Jerry!

Later!

Philip

Jerry

Philip I've talked to Roland and he wasn't interested.
I'll give him another call and see if I can get him to change his mind.

Good morning folks,

Karl, thanks for opening. Nice photo of the bird.

TomACL,  good luck decluttering.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and Danish. Did you say details?  ;D

Rick, crazy to have a train car in the middle of nowhere.  Nice photos.  Enjoy the hike.

Ron, glad you enjoy reading.

Dave, I hate it when the dogs roll in the freshly cut grass.

Jerry, hope you make it to the beach and bench.

Philip, glad you got the install sorted.  I would be interested in an install thread with the keep-alive.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a sunny morning and the temperature is headed to 84F. I have the smoker fired up, and a rack of St. Louis-style ribs is on the grill. I think this is the first time I've smoked this year. A friend from the lodge is coming over for supper tonight, so I'll add potato salad and coleslaw to the table.

After a two-day interruption, I made it to the bench this morning and installed 30 floor beams.  When the glue is dry, I'll start working on the diagonal braces between the top cords.

Have fun,
mike

Two thoughts on Rick's flatcar-in-the-woods:  (1) abandoned by a logging railroad?  (2) Was there a stream nearby?  Old flatcars often ended up as bridges.

Good afternoon. Wisconsin is kind of nice today at 57f degrees and it's very calm.

The grocery run this morning was of great interest with veggie and fruit prices climbing. Gas has bounced from $2.99 Monday when I didn't need it to $3.25 today when I needed to fill up. The saving grace is the grocery gas savings deal they have. After the grocery run we had $1.51 per gallon off.

The grass after 4 days of good rain and decent temperatures needs to be cut again. That is now the grandson's job and he gets $$$ for it. The $$$ however don't seem to motivating him. He'll do it when he gets home per his dad. That's motivation enough!

Since it's May now all my medical restrictions have been removed. That feels good. Terry has a few little ones but really nothing impactful. The biggie is no night driving until she is completely weaned off her pain medications which should take most of May if there are no set backs.

The spending less time on the Internet is going ok. I do use the Internet for my weathering. I look for prototype pictures to use for inspiration. I need to become more efficient at the searches and would like to find 5 good pictures per day in less than 1 hour. Basically I am down to the Modelrailroad forums and here. I'm avoiding most online"news" sources except for local/state news. I am using the local TV channel's website. I've done a decent job of avoiding politics

Enjoy the day
TomO

Rick,

Doesn't look like a logging flat. In fact, it has the C&NW logo on the upside down left side.

Cheap Frugal logging lines often bought used freight cars.  Since they weren't used in interchange service, they wouldn't bother repainting them.

Morning Gents,

The morning beverages are on the counter and breakfast is sausage gravy over homemade
biscuits with hash browns are the side.

What'cha do'in today.

It's 50 with a high of 56 in New York with rain as an all day event; of course I mowed the lawn yesterday.
I'm hoping for a little bench time to finish weathering some of the floor then doing an update later. Not much else going on here.

Have an enjoyable day!! Be well and stay safe.

Morning Larry and others,

Thanks for breakfast Larry, sausage gravy and homemade biscuits is perfect this morning.

I'll edge and cut the grass tomorrow morning as we have 86% chance of rain storms late tomorrow afternoon. The "chance" is scary as it could also mean 86% no rain at my house.  8)

Have a safe and happy day everyone.
