Morning Gents,

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the moms out there; enjoy your special day!!!

Tom thanks for the coffee and breakfast; that one was a "real gut buster."
Enjoy the KFC with Pam.

Rick have a relaxing day. Yes I was able to get some 1:1 stuff done yesterday and some more this am.

Dale sorry to hear about your health problems; hope you feel better soon.

What are your plans for today?

It's a sunny 49 with a high of 61 in New York. Going into the low 80's and 70's this week so the A/C is going in upstairs shortly otherwise it gets pretty warm up there. Our Daughter's coming over this afternoon for Mother's Day with pizza, mozzarella sticks, and brownie alamode to top things off.

Have a great day!!!! Be well and stay safe.

Quote from: DaleM on May 11, 2025, 08:37:35 AMGood morning everyone, Thanks for breakfast Tom, but I have to pass today. Been out of commission since Wednesday, I had a procedure done that just totally messes with my gut. Basically, they went in and microwaved my esophagus to burn off what they call Barrett cells. I am an esophagus cancer survivor, cancer free for nearly 11 years now. But the Barrett cells they discovered earlier this year I am told are a pre-cancerous condition for esophageal cancer survivors. The microwaving happens right where my stomach and esophagus meet so it is a very sensitive area. Last round 3 months ago I lost 12 pounds and had only managed to gain back 2 of those before this round, which so far, I am down 5 lbs. So, I am 15 lbs. lighter than at the beginning of the year. For some that may be good for me not so much. When I had cancer back in 2014, they removed about 3/4 of my stomach, and I literally lost 100 lbs. in a hurry. Almost half my body weight at the time. That had me at 128 lbs. but through the years I have managed to get that up to 150 and I can't seem to gain any more than that. I am down to 135 now after this latest round of microwaving. At 5'-11" that makes me one thin dude. I don't have much weight to lose!! I am scheduled to do it all again in August. I don't think it is possible for me to put on the 15 lbs. before that so I will probably be even thinner after that.

Good news now, I got the main roof of the shipyard done with the exception of the cupula. I will post pics on that build thread in the next day or 2.

I hope everyone has a great Mother's Day. My mother is still alive, but this may be her last Mother's Day as her health is rapidly going the wrong direction. She is 88. I will be spending most of today with her.

Dale,

Sorry to hear you had the procedure but it sure is better than the alternative. Enjoy every day you can with you mom. I lost mine some 18 years ago and would give anything to have another day with her. We have Pam's mom living with us and she is 97 going on 98 in August. We didn't think last year she would be here this year.

Have a great day.

Good morning ACLTom, Rick, Dale, Larry, Philip, Jerry and the rest of crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Tom and yes I got your e-mail and sent you a response.  Have fun in the train shed and enjoy dinner with the Mrs.

Rick, Enjoy your day relaxing.

Dale, Enjoy the time with your mother.  My father died last October when he collapsed at home and never recovered from it.  Hope you mend quickly.

Larry, glad your 1:1 chores went well. Enjoy Mother's day with your daughter.

Philip, glad to hear you got the greenhouse done, have fun planting potatoes.

Jerry, enjoy your day.

Currently 77 and overcast here in Northeast Florida.  I have already did my grocery run, laundry is on to dry and have a fresh cup of coffee.  I have about 4 hrs of work to do today as I need to do some catching up.

At the bench last night I added the lights to the light box I had made.  I Just need to add a photo backdrop in the ground floor of the light box and then its done, on to the next one.

Have a great day everyone.

My National Guard unit did its 2 weeks around this time every year.  The 1SG woke everyone up with his morning call, "Happy Day, all you Mothers!   Up and At 'Em!"  (We did have females in that unit...)  It's a bit cool, but very bright and sunny today, a big change from the last 2 weeks.  Yesterday's Scotch Club was a good time, first meeting in 4 weeks.  I'll do a bit more pick-up and then select the next big project.

Rick asked: "Karl, still in Northern Command?"

No, returned to 'normal' yesterday as we both have $$ appointments this week, me, dentist to have a cavity re-capped...she, Tues, to have a different look see... :o

The drive home was uneventful as was most of the week.  A nice break to get the Doll thinking beyond the 'scope she's dreading.  It seems every acquaintance has a cousin, ex-in-law, aunt second removed or neighbor two blocks over that was victimized in some manner by the scope process and had to tell her about all the details...the medical system is challenge enough without any outside influence. Hopefully all will go well.

Happy Mother's Day to all those among us.

Lawn mowing on tap for today is about it.  Maybe back to bench time as well, but, as is often the case the projects I've had going before going N just lack the drive they did...more stuff to the 90% list... :-\

Be well all.  Enjoy MOM!

Howdy folks,

TomACL, thanks for opening, coffee, and the hearty breakfast.  Hope your Mother's Day feast was good.

Rick, hope you enjoy the hike.  The campsite looks perfect.

Dale, wishing you improved health.  Nice to spend the day with your Mom.

Larry, have a nice Mother's Day with your Daughter.

Philip, congrats on the rebuild of the greenhouse.

Jerry, hope you have a restful day.

Ron, the lightbox sounds interesting.  I'm looking forward to the photos.

Dave, good luck with the project selection.

Karl, hope the doctor appointments go well for the Doll and you.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's an overcast day with drizzle and rain forecast for today and the coming week.

I spent time laying track and printing details on the 3D printers yesterday.  I plan to lay all the track on Phase I, then begin Sculptamold, etc.  I'm experimenting with FDM printing of stone walls for structures.  I have one more wall section to print for the sheriff's office, then I'll start on the water tower base building.

Have fun,
mike

Good evening. I've cleaned the bar top and the bourbons and beers are ready. Sodas, waters and wine are in or near the cooler. I also cleaned the ashes from the firepit. There's plenty of firewood on the patio. Sit and enjoy the evening.

The 1st of the Crew tomorrow will be here at 8am instead of the original 6am. Finishing of the 6' of track and laying the track for 2 runarounds was done today. Got a call around 10 this morning asking if the train room was available. 2 buddies came by and laid the rail on the 6' of ties and used flex on the 2 run arounds. One of the track laying guys today normally just helps on the wiring. Instead of being here at 1pm tomorrow he will be here at 10am. We were going every 6' on feeder wires but we r doing 3' tomorrow so I needed to add a bunch of feeder wire holes. 2 of us will finish up what I didn't get done before dinner this afternoon. I now have plenty of wire along with a new leaf blower and 2 new gutter extension things. Terry got a email Friday saying we had not used our Home Depot card in 11 months and we needed to use it or lose it!

Of the 5 guys coming tomorrow 3 have lost their wive's in the last 3 years. 2 of them came over today. The 1st hour was kind of sullen but liven up later. I need to check the layout before bed tonight because they were here much longer than the needed track laying. We all lost track of time till Terry said are you guys going to join us for dinner, if so go home and clean up.

We had reservations at 6:30 at a favorite Italian restaurant and I called at 5:00 and asked if we could have a table for 4 instead of 2. He said no problem. Had a great meal with good conversation and Terry said her Mothers Day dinner was great and the guys funny.

Good morning everyone.

Eugene weather: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. High near 59.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Basic two eggs any way you like, sides of bacon and/or sausage and hash browns for breakfast today.

TomO, thanks for setting up the bar last night but I was already sound asleep.
Happy you made good progress on the layout and had a great meal too.
Have fun with the crew today.

Greg, hope you have a great week.

Mike, have you started with the sculptamold yet?

Karl, good luck with the dentist today and hope all is well with Vicki's look see tomorrow.

Dave, come up with a new project yet?

Ron, more progress on the models yesterday?

Jerry, any siding get worked on yesterday?

Philip, hope you have a bumper crop of taters.

Larry, sounds like a good meal was had yesterday.

Dale, all the best to you health wise and on your upcoming procedures.

ACLTom, how was the KFC.

Curt, you back to feeling much better?

A lackluster day yesterday.
Spent most of it inside.
Naps, cleaning and defrosting the fridge, reading my book and worked on some photos.
Today it's back to town for gym, Costco, Walmart and Petco.
Stocking up on things to go further east and hope to do some great hiking.

Came across this gal while hiking on Saturday: https://youtube.com/shorts/WskD3bb1rwc
If you watched it I'm sure you heard Star panting in the background.  :D

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Rick, very tasty this overcast morning.

The KFC was great. We order the chicken and used take out. At home we had a feast for sure. I got juicy and tender chicken fingers, Pam got extra crispy spicy and her mom got the original. Mashed potatoes with gravy and coleslaw rounded us off. Even though it is KFC, we go to the one in the Hood as they know how to cook fried chicken. I'm always Signal O when going to the Hood.

I need to make a hobby shop run for some brass stock and strip wood.

Curt, hope you and Kathy are doing much better.

Also, thoughts and prayers for Sandy during her radiation treatments.

Have a great day everyone and stay safe.

TomO certainly sounds like he pulled a good Mother's Day out of a dark start.  Best wishes for Curt & Kathy, and Sandy.  As my wife says, "Getting old sucks!"  (And yeah, she does consider the alternative at times...)

No modeling yesterday, I added an extra shelf to a tool stand.  That took some fancy beveled cuts using both my small band saw and my full size table saw.  But any day I make sawdust isn't a total loss...

Morning all and TY for the coffee Rick!  Star sounds like a steam train in that video!

Prayers for all under the weather.

Mother Day went well. Planted all the potato's & a few nasturtiums. Row tilled/prepped most of the day. Rain has been unhelpful this year. We are behind schedule plus the soil is still a bit cold.

Have a great Monday!

Philip
