Me Again,

I keep forgetting to post this photo:

20250723_085807.jpg

This is a Trumpet Vine I have growing in my back yard; the Hummingbirds love getting inside the blossoms. I trimmed it back last spring and will have to do so next year; this thing is getting huge.

I think Trumpet Vines are officially classified as an invasive species.  They'll certainly take over the host.  Turns out those tall, big leaf things that popped up in my garden are Milkweed.  Not invasive (and great for Monarch butterflies), but poisonous.  They're too big for my dogs to eat, and we don't have cows  ;D

Hot and humid today, heading to 93.  Cold front coming through tomorrow mid-day with a chance of rain/thundershowers, and probably showers on Friday.  We need the rain, so that's OK.

Still no steam generated on the machine shop project.  I really do need to buckle down and Just Do It.

Oh, eye dr said, "No changes.  Rx is the same.  Cataracts are the same (not enough to justify surgery).  Back of the eye is the same (where diabetic problems show up.)."  So except for walking out into bright sunlight with dilated eyes, I left her office very happy.

Rick thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
And that picture one of the best I've seen from you!!!
Poor Star bathe time old friend!!  ???

Curt that's really good 3 miles.

Larry have fun doing the lawn.
Nice looking flowering bush.

Weather in South Jersey is sunny/83.  RF/97.
Yesterday we spent the day at the beach and it was hot unusual for the beach here.
Today we will stay home it will be a scorcher there today.
I will start a new building sometime today.  A little different from the one that became firewood.

Everyone have a great day.  :)

Morning all,

I had multigrain Cheerios for breakfast this morning. Wanted something cold for a change.

Rick, we never made it to IHOP to see the one legged waitress. It was packed and they wanted to seat me in the middle with other people. Maybe it's a cop thing but I won't eat when I'm in the middle of the room. I want my back to wall or where I can see who is coming in the door. We went to TooJays instead and I sat with my back to the wall.

We have bowling practice today and then the usual late lunch with friends.

A speedy recovery to Sharon.

We also have an invasive plant here. Night Blooming Jasmin, smells great but the white sap is toxic to humans and pets.

Have a great day everyone and stay safe out in the heat.

Good morning Rick, Curt, Larry, Dave, Jerry, Jim, ACLTom and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, if Star is anything like Gracie when it comes to baths, you have your work cut out.

Currently 24C (75F) and partly cloudy, it's supposed to be a scorcher today.  NO modeling last night, we shall see what tonight brings.

Morning! We had a much needed hard rain overnight. Things should pop now! I just asked Gena and they are banana yellow peppers. The rest is green to red mild. Sorry to hear about the stones. Gena had one several years ago, not fun.

I have remnants of trumpet vines. Planted them near the house and they clinged to my siding. I need to set a post, transplant, and let them climb away from the house. They are beautiful Larry! The hums like the mimosa tree down the street. Hundreds of them feast on that evasive tree.

Dental cleaning today and get my cap reset until the crown shows up. Fell off flossing!

No modeling activity yet this week.

Later!

I was just passing thru earlier, as I am now.  Too much catch up for visiting.  Paid bills, canceled Directv, fueled the mowing machinery, bought supplies to rehang a full closet shelf that fell, had to changed HDMI cables on the PC and now am starting to have a go at repairing the shelf.

Boy do we miss the fiber internet.  20 vs 400 is just so sad. :-\

LarryC, those trumpet flowers sure are pretty, on someone else's property.  Keep it away from the house or it might show up for breakfast some morning :o I had one come 20' up inside the trusses in the garage, right up thru the soffits, burrowed under the house and is in front as well.  :(

Enjoy the day all!!

It's "only" 87 outside. :P

Howdy folks,

Rick, thanks for opening and breakfast.  Yikes, Star's absence must have been a scare.  Glad she just wanted a bath.  ;D

Curt, I admire your morning walks.  I need to venture away from the recumbent and hit the pavement.

Larry, glad you are getting some bench time.  Beautiful trumpet vine photo.  Thanks.

Dave, congrats on the good doctor's report.  Glad your eyes are holding their own.

Jerry, hope you enjoyed the beach.  Envious I am.  New structure?  Fun!

Jim, thanks for stopping in.  Hope the engine house construction is going well.

TomACL, back against the wall isn't a cop thing.  I am the same way, wanting to look out at what's happening.

Ron, hope you make it to the bench tonight.

Philip, hope the dentist visit went well.

How is the rest of the crew?

It was a warm one in Georgia today.  It's 96°F now.

Sharon took some magic medicine last night and feels better today, just tired.  Late this afternoon, we are going to see Superman.  I hear it is better than the originals.  We'll see.

Today I completed the Morgan Hill Models Scrap Car.  It was a fun build.  I didn't break out the layout paint today.  Maybe tomorrow.  I love trumpet vine...on my models.

Have fun and stay cool,  8)

Good Morning,

The coffee, tea, hot water, OJ, and assorted sodas are ready for your enjoyment. Breakfast is western omelet, hash browns, and crispy bacon and/or pan sausages.

What's going on today?

It's 66 with a high of 88 in New York; the last hot day for awhile. Dentist apt. this am for a cleaning and checkup. Maybe some more bench time later. Dinner will be marinated chicken breast and fresh off the farm green & yellow squash.

Have a great day!! Keep coll, be well, and stay safe.

Good morning folks,

Larry, thanks for opening, the coffee, and omelet.  Good luck at the dentist.  Supper sounds great!

How are the rest of the crew today?

It's a cool morning at 71F, and headed to 91F, cooler than yesterday.  Today I'm headed to Costco to get my hearing aid repaired and pick up a few odds and ends.  I hope to continue painting the base color on the layout.

Have fun,
mike

Good morning everyone.

Hells canyon weather: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Good luck at the dentist.

Mike, hope the hearing aid repair is successful.
Glad Sharon is doing better.

Karl, you had a busy day.

Philip, hope the cap stays in place.

Ron, any modeling last night?

ACLTom, how'd bowling go?

Jim, have fun with the engine house.

Jerry, did you start a new build?

Dave, good news about the eyes.

Curt, hope the airport drop off went well.

TomO, what's new?

Star got her bath.
I gave her three relaxing pills and it was the best and easiest bath experience yet.
She slept the rest of the day.
Before the bath we did our hike.
7.65 miles and 1,289' EG.
I had planned on doing two more hikes here but it's just too hot.
Going to head north and into some higher elevation where it should be cooler.

A very short video of something seen on yesterdays hike: https://youtube.com/shorts/48bgzaqZvBc

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Larry although I'm skipping breakfast this morning. Good luck at the dentist.

Slept in a bit this morning. After animal chores I have the weekly floor cleaning.

Yesterday was a slog with Dad. I went to pick up his suitcase to put in the car and it was 60 pounds (he said 50) so that had to be turned into 2 suitcases (amid constant complaints). Got to the airport and no curbside check-in. While standing in the queue inside Dad was worried about all his documentation was missing and I had to show him everything (he put it together), then we shouldn't be standing in line because he has the quick TSA check-in. I had to explain that it was the ticket counter not TSA.

About 10 minutes after leaving the airport he calls and says the airport is shut down due to weather (the sky is clear). I told him to ask if the flight was canceled and no, it was a lightning delay. MOH and I decided to eat at a good German restaurant in Sanford (about 10 minutes from airport) . After supper we were walking to the car getting ready to drive to the airport cell lot to wait when Dad called and said they were loading the plane.

Mike have fun with the layout.

Rick safe travels. You were smart with the bath.

That's all I got.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning everyone

Larry thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
Hope the dentist is a good exam.

Mike hope you get the harin aid fixed.

Rick great video and funny.  Guess everyone enjoys a walk!!  ;D

Curt that was a an interesting time with Dad.
Glad you have a lot of patience.

Weather in South Jersey is sunny/80.  Later on 95.
Izzy to the groomer this morning.
Then we will do grocery shopping while she is getting groomed.
I managed to cut all the wood for the new framing.  I couldn't save much of the other one.
I will be more careful in the future!!

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Larry, much appreciated.

Rick, bowling was fine. I averaged 172. I did have one game of 240 - eight strikes in a row which helped towards the 172 average.

Curt,  Pam and I understand what you are going through with your dad.

We got 1.5 inches of rain late yesterday afternoon in 35 minutes. Don't have to water the yard this morning.

Have a safe and happy day everyone.
