Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. Enjoy your hike and pretty photo.

Started out slower this morning due to a restless sleep. Just can't seem to get motivated. It looks like USPS has possession of the KIR kit, but still in the UK? still no word on the SW kit and the cabin car will be here either late today or tomorrow.

Have some pool stuff to do today and other odds and ends.

Dave I've seen several similar videos but not that one. Of course those guys are fully loaded!

I posted a video yesterday afternoon on this thread. There's 5 or 6 from Cass under Curt Webb Videos on YouTube if interested.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Last night's (annual) dinner with an old friend was quite a surprise.  He's a retired computer science professor (and also ordained Episcopal priest).  The primary topics, though, between his adult daughter, he and I, was train stuff!  They've been to some operating sessions on railroads around Amherst MA.  We talked about my machine shop project, wheel bearings and what a "hot box" is.  I mentioned the Franklin & South Manchester as something worth the drive to visit.

After the cleaners are gone, I'll get back to work on the machine shop.

A nice autumnal day on tap in MI today. 600 going to 70s.

Starlink is up and running.  I still need to make a permanent support for the antenna.

PT fellow said while not dramatic, progress is being made and I'm doing well with it.  :P

Typing is one of the few skills of any sort I learned in school that was worthwhile.  It really was an advantage in my early law enforcement days.  A few years in we acquired dictation recorders and a couple of semi-literate bimbos typed them up for us.  I was embarassed to sign them sometimes.  What I said wasn't what they heard.

Little planned yet for today.

Morning everyone

Rick thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
Great sunrise.

Tom have fun in the shed or cutting the grass.  I's stick with the shed myself.

Larry that's a pretty deep hole for footing I assume?

I'll have to get to the video's later Curt.

Dave sounds like you had a nice time last night.

Karl glad you got the Starlink up and running.

Weather in South Jersey sunny/64.  Later on 80.
I'm off for my 6 month eye exam.
I'll check back in later.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Good morning from Seattle! 60f degrees now high 80's later.

We are going to take today as it comes! Terry was not feeling well yesterday and was worst overnight. Bad cold and then a terrible cough.

We took yesterday mid morning a 3 hour bus tour around Seattle. It was a great way to learn about Seattle's history, see neighborhoods we would never have gotten to and the tour guide's distain for the high price Seattle real estate market.

We had a late lunch with  old friends from North Central Wisconsin that Terry taught with back in the day. 1970's to 1989 when they moved to Seattle. Terry has kept in monthly touch with them 1st by phone, then emails and now text messages. 4 friends in Wausau, Wi who where all hired by Microsoft in 1989, live together and have been super successful! Actually that might be an understatement but while I knew they lived in Medina I didn't realize that's where Bill Gates lives as did Jeff Bezo before he purchased Miami. We had a late dinner at their house last night and the neighborhood and the house were a bit overwhelming. I have been in some spectacular homes in Arizona and Hawaii of either my brother's or friends of his but this place blows them away.

Seattle! Not a place we would want to live. There is something about this place that I cannot pinpoint but the vibe here is way off line! Vancouver even though it's big had a total vibe both Terry and I can handle.

Tomorrow we are taking Amtrak's COAST STARLIGHT to LA but we are thinking to get off in Burbank. That would save us fighting the LA traffic as it's much closer to Pasadena but I want to see Union station.

Enjoy the day
TomO

Good afternoon everyone,

Hope you are enjoying your hike.  Ronald WA?  Didn't know there was a town named after me.  ;D

ACLTom, Have fun cutting the grass and enjoy your time in the train shed.

Larry, looking forward to seeing the wagon pictures.

Curt, will have to check out your videos.

Dave, have fun working on the machine shop.

Karl, good to hear that the PT is working.

Jerry, hope the eye appointment goes well.

Philip, enjoy your day.

TomO, sounds like your west coast trip was going well, hope Terry starts feeling better soon.

Currently 28c (82f) and partly cloudy skies.  Had a very busy morning running around doing errands but the rest of the day is mine.  I see some time at the bench in the near future.

Have a great day everyone.

Greetings folks,

Rick, thanks for opening and juice.  Hope your hike was a good one.  That photo is killer!

TomACL, working in the train shed sounds like way more fun than mowing the grass.

Larry, congrats on the sneaux prophylactic.  ;)

Curt, thanks for the Cass videos.  Nothing like live steam.

Dave, the annual dinner with friends sounds nice.  The topic of conversation sounds like fun.

Karl, I learned a long time ago about quality at the source; thus, typing it yourself usually guarantees readable documents.  ;) Nice photo, btw.

Jerry, hope the eye exam went well.  Nothing like being able to see those model trains.

Philip, howdy!

TomO, good luck on the Coast Starlight.  Sounds like fun.

Ron, glad you had a good day and time for fun.

Gregory, good luck with FedEx.

How is the rest of the crew?

It was 80°F here today, nice weather, but cloudy.  Rain tonight.

I finished the glazing work on the lodge windows, so they are ready for mounting.  I think I'll wait until I install the floors and interior details.

I worked on lights and have three with shades and am ready to install.  I wasted a couple of hours trying to make round glazing for the fascia window.  I failed, so next I'll switch the Laser to die cut mode and cut the circles that way.  The fascia sports a lighted masonic logo in blue and gold.

I'm curious what voltage folks use on the accessory bus.  Also, do you use fixed voltage for LED lighting?

That's it for this week.  I'll check in again on Monday.

Have fun,
mike

Morning all,

Breakfast is ready with country fried steak, biscuits and gravy with hash browns. Fruit bowls on the end for those wanting a light breakfast. Drinks of all kinds on the end.

I got the grass cut about 30 minutes prior to the rain. Shed time was during the rain. I also read for a few hours - a western by W. Johnstone.

I have a funeral to attend today at 2PM for one of our bowling league members.

Have a safe and healthy day everyone.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Tom. Condolences on the passing of your bowling friend.

Started out the day with a walk at 77F with high humidity but not as bad as the last couple of times. Yesterday after floors I pulled weeds in a flower bed and cleaned pool filters.

The cabin car came in yesterday. The KIR kit is in NY customs and no status change from SW.

That's enough blabbing for today.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning folks,

Tom, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast. Condolences for your friend.

Curt, good luck with the kit's arrival.

How is the rest of the gang?

It's an overcast morning with a forecast high of 78°F, sweater weather.  Rain maybe.

I received an order from Mount Blue Models yesterday.  I placed the order on Monday evening, and it arrived in just four days.  The order was for a boxcar and a shorty combine to serve the mines.  The miners needed a ride to work. ;D

I don't know what the day will bring, maybe some fun.

Have fun,
mike

Tom's breakfast sounds particularly good today.  It would be a good day to eat outside, it's 66 on the way to 84, and sunny.

I got one machine installed in the machine shop.  I should go out and buy 5 minute epoxy, my stuff went bad.  I've noticed that the cure times for both CA and epoxy in my train room/shop have been much longer than specified.  The 30 minute stuff I was using needed more than an hour to set up.

Good Morning,

Tom thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Nice you had an enjoyable day yesterday. Seems like the older we get the more of those types of functions we have to attend; never easy.

Curt glad your the car has arrived and the KIR kit is in this country. As far as the SW kit I think Brett's in way over his head with the new kits trying to fill all the orders.

Mike that's a good turn around time on the cars; have loads of fun.

Dave sadly CA, or any glue, doesn't have that long of a shelf life. Nice to hear one machine's installed.

What's your plans for today.

It's a sunny 67 with a high of 86 in New York; then the temps go down from there. Daughters coming over this afternoon to celebrate my birthday; pizza and mozzarella sticks on tap with my personal favorite....coconut creme pie for desert. Probably no time at the bench today.

Have a great day!!! Be well and stay safe.

Good morning TomO, Curt, Mike, Dave, Larry and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Tom, condolences for you bowling friend.

Curt, now that one kit has arrived you can get to modeling again.

Mike, you will like the Mount Blue kits I have a fleet of boxcars from them.  I've built a couple already, but have at least another half dozen to do, along with some flatcars.

Dave, sounds like your modeling room is damp as that is usually the cause of epoxy taking longer to set up than usual, or it could be that it is past it's expiry date.

Larry, Have fun with your daughter today.

Currently 21c (70f) and partly cloudy today.  Managed some time at the bench yesterday and already posted an update.  Have another update to add which I'll add later today.  Right now I need to get some work clothes and then take Gracie for a walk.

Have a great day everyone.
