Good evening, all. Partly cloudy as twilight overtakes the NH seacoast.  I spent the day helping Seashore's Yard Crew switch, with one good conversation with a visitor about the Flying Yankee.  No actual derailments, but one old trolley had a stiff center bearing, 3.5" wide wheels and 1/2" flanges.  It almost derailed 3 times, but we caught it each time.  One place the gauge was out far enough I brought tools and installed a gauge rod.

Philip, my sympathies on the loss of your friends.  A college roommate passed last month, maybe 5 weeks from diagnosis of soft tissue sarcoma to hospice, then gone.  I will make the trip to Maryland for his memorial service.

Karl, nice photos. The Manistique Paper switch is a good illustration of the vertex bend, in the right hand rail beyond the point.

Quote from: Philip on September 27, 2025, 12:41:37 PMNot really in a modeling mood. In the last 14 days I have lost 3 friends, three who I've known since childhood. One veteran to suicide (PTSD) and two to lung cancer.

I hope everyone is getting along well!

Philip,

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your friends.  Losing friends is one of the toughest things we go through in later years.  My heart especially aches for the suicide Veteran.

Hang in there, this too will pass.  I added you to my prayer list, Philip.

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, english muffins, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Started out the day with a walk at 74F and high humidity. Yesterday I placed planks on the first wall. It took about 2 hours and afterwards my neck was sore from the bending down. Last night's pot luck was rescheduled to next month due to the hostess being ill.

Today after chores I'll start on the second wall of the pattern shop.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning,

Philip my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your friends. That sort of thing is never easy; hang in there my friend.

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Enjoy the Kit; it's not the destination but the journey getting there that is fun.

What's on your plate today.

It's a cloudy 58 with a high of 79 in New York. Mowed the lawn and mowed off the flower garden yesterday and noticed the grass hadn't grown much at all. Afterwards I put the plate over the discharge chute on the tractor and lowered the deck 1/2 inch so now it's onto grinding leaves until the white crap arrives. Hopefully some bench time this am then putting up some Fall decs inside.

Have a great day!! Be well.

Good morning everyone.

Ridgefield, WA weather: 54 now and cloudy with a high of 75 later.

Curt, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Your wall looks great.

Philip, my condolences on the loss of your friends.

Larry, I did the same with the leaves at my house and then dumped the chopped up leaves in the corner of my backyard. Made a nice mulch.

Didn't set up the computer yesterday so I'm keeping it brief.
Sports bar a little later to watch the 'Skins game.
Then a Costco and Walmart run.

Have a great day everyone.

Just another morning in the UP. Photo credit: The Doll.

Little new to add. Gathering the crew with the plan for a boat ride at Pictured Rocks from Munising on Lake Superior. It should be fun.

Enjoy your day.

Philip, sorry for your losses.

Some low clouds burned off, warm, 67 heading to 81 and still a bit muggy in SE NH.  My dog Livia continues to want to go out every 2 hours at night, so I'm tired.  At least the coffee maker worked this morning.

I probably have 1 or 2 more days of furniture assembly, then I'll spraypaint everything to make them all look consistent.  With luck, the interior should be done by the weekend, and I'll take this to the local meet for 'show and tell time'.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt. Have fun with the build and I look forward to seeing it.

Well, yesterday was an adventure for sure. There were about 30 people in attendance at my cousin, Rusty's Service. Here is some back ground. Rusty attended Clemson, joined the FAA in Miami and retired after 20 years. He then joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary and got his Commercial Captain's License. He and friend then bought a fishing boat and took folks out in the Atlantic Ocean on charter fishing trips. Later they bought a second boat, Safari II.

I wasn't aware of the fact it would be a burial at sea with Rusty's ashes, per his wish. The charter boat, Safari 1, was docked at Pirate's Cove in Stuart, Fl. It took us 30 minutes to get to open ocean and then at the 4 mile mark we stopped and I gave my eulogy. We spread his ashes in the Atlantic and threw red and yellow long stem roses into the water with his ashes.

I'm very surprised I didn't get sea sick as we had 3-4 ft. waves due to the coming storm. A few did get sick. We got home about 8PM last night.

Time to edge and cut the grass prior to the rain.

Have a great day and stay safe.

Tom

Good afternoon folks,

Curt, thanks for opening and coffee.  The siding on the shop looks well done.

Larry, congrats on finishing the mowing.  We are looking forward to temps like yours.

Rick, nice photos of Star.  I would wish the skins good luck, but...

Karl, beautiful sunrise photo.  Thanks. Enjoy the boat ride.

Dave, the interior is looking great. Good luck with the finish.

TomACL, the burial at sea sounds nice and a fitting memorial.

Jerry, hope you can plan for the build.

Philip, hope your day is peaceful.

How is the rest of the gang?

It's a bright morning forecast for 84°F this afternoon.  The Braves' final game is today, and the Cowboys play tonight. I may be in mourning tomorrow. Not sure if I will get upstairs today, we'll see.

Have fun,
mike

Good morning everyone.

Ridgefield, WA weather: Rain, mainly before 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 67.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Basic two eggs any way you like them, sides of bacon and or sausage and roasted potatoes for breakfast today.
Toaster is plugged in too with a wide variety of breads to choose from.
Butter and an assortment of different jams and jellies are out too.

Mike, the 'Boys had slightly better luck than the 'Skins.  :-\

Philip, hope you are well.

Jerry, your Niners didn't have a good day either.

ACLTom, sounds like your cousin had a nice send off.

Dave, hope the dog is feeling better.

Karl, beautiful sunrise photo.
I enjoyed visiting Pictured Rocks.

Larry, any diorama process?

Curt, any more work on the kit?

Greg, have a great week.

Jams, glad there weren't any derailments.

Ron, how was the On30 weekend?

TomO, what's new?

Watched the 'Skins playing a miserable game.
Defense was non existent.
I ate a breakfast burrito while watching the game that was tasty but too much food.
I was full the rest of the day.
Spent the night at a casino and left a twenty in a penny slot.
Laundry this morning.
I have three more hikes downloaded for Washington, but it's supposed to rain all week so that might not happen.

Another picture of Rainier.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Rick, much appreciated.

My cousin had a full life and left us on his own terms. He had a DNR that left his family a bit miffed. We sure had lots of fun together growing up in central fl.

I got the yard edged and cut yesterday. It rained a few hours after I finished.

Today, I'll continue with reviewing what I've written and will add another chapter. I'll spend today, part of Tuesday and all Wednesday on the book.

Have a safe and healthy day everyone.

Good morning Rick, ACLTom and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, sorry to hear that the skins didn't play well.  At least the fish didn't lose yesterday  ;D, although I'm not confident about tonight game.  :-\   Hopefully the weather will let you get a couple of hikes in.

Tom, you know I'm looking forward in reading your book, when you finally get it published.

Had a great weekend running trains and working on the modules.  We get together and setup every couple of months and have a great time.  I'm off today but the Mrs has plans for me.  I might get to the bench later today.

Have a great day today.

Good morning from Wisconsin. 87f degrees is the WeatherChannel guess for the day. The nice streak of weather continues.

I watched the Packers/Jerry Jones game last night. Extremely disappointing for GB fans. Poor time management skills by the now very experienced head coach. But they didn't lose. I will sign a petition to get rid of NBC's Chris Collingsworth. Unusual for me I also watched the Bear/Raider game.

Day #1 of year 73 for me and except for the weight the best health I have been in for awhile. I still have issues but I feel very good

I have made a decision about my layout. It's staying and I am not adding another deck. I made a list of things I need to do (2) by 10/15 and 5 things I want to do by Thanksgiving. The layout room and my 2 workbenches are very clean and ready to go. I would like to work about an hour a day but there will be no strict timetable

Philip, sorry to read about the loss of your friends

Tom, both Terry and I have DNR's and have informed the family so there are no surprises. The paperwork is also handy for if the EMS crews are called. Lesson learned on that because my brother in law passed sitting on the couch. EMS came in and my sister couldn't find the DNR paperwork to show them. By law they had to try to revive him. That was a huge trauma for my sister

Be well
TomO
