Good morning from So.Central Wisconsin. It's 29f degrees now heading to 31 and we have received the White Gifts from Above or WGFA. It's still dark but it looks beautiful out there. It's heavy on the grass with just some on the sidewalks. We will stay below freezing per the aweatherChannel hourly gizmo till around noon Monday. It is snow showering if what the app says is happening right now. I did confirm that by looking out the window

Volleyball on campus at 1pm. Late lunch after the game at one of the many excellent food serving bar/restaurants surrounding the campus.

Thanks guys for the well wishes for Terry. Unlike from Thanksgiving 2024 till June 2025 she has no pain but her eyes are blurring. They figured it out once before hopefully they can remember how.

We've been doing research and I mean Terry has in regards to my super crazy premium increases on our supplemental health insurance and pharmacy plans. Basically I have survived throat cancer twice and thyroid cancer once. I am a 2 time stroker, a diabetic and still overweight. Can you say high risk so let's increase! But I now by going to a presidentially named website can buy my weight loss speciality drug I pay zero out of pocket for $149 a month. The insurance companies did and 2 of them refused to even quote me including who we have now.

So, a solution has been found. I now have to take the mandatory withdrawals from my 401k. Thankfully I don't need it at this time. I will be self funding my health insurance after Medicare. I can roll the 401k withdrawals into a HSA, health savings account. There's more but that's the main idea. See your tax guy for advice. My withdrawal is scheduled for 12/15 so we have time to set things up.

Enjoy your day
TomO

Morning Gents,

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast. I guess if someone has to "sacrifice" being at the bench it may as well be you; have fun.

Tom I agree waaaay too early for Christmas music. I had to chuckle at Howard's building sign; talk about "tongue & cheek" humor. Sorry to hear about Pam hope she gets well soon; as far as I'm concerned Flu shots are pretty much useless.

Tom sorry to hear Terry is still having eye issues; hope they get resolved soon. Health insurance company are.....well you know; enough said.

What's the rest of you up to.

It's 42 on the back porch with a high of 50 something here.A bit cloudy but that's be be expected this time of year. They're still forecasting 1-3 in. of the "white crap" Monday into Tuesday; have to wait and see. Hopefully a little bench time later this am.

Have a great day!! Be well.

Appreciate you soldiering on at the bench.  ;)

Larry, have fun at the bench.

TomO, hope Terry's vision improves very soon and good luck with the insurance.

ACLTom, I hope Pam is feeling better very soon.

James, hope the shoulder is feeling better today.
Any layout progress?

Dave, thanks for the health wishes and the same for you and everyone else.

Jerry, hope the beautiful fall weather continues for a while.

Karl, hope they were wrong about the s@#$.

Dave, glad you enjoyed the concert.

Mike, derrick crown finished?

Ron, what's new up north?

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Had a great time camping with the kids.
It was the first time they went camping.
Meals got cooked over an open fire and we did some rockhounding.
Also it was the first time I had smores.
I'll watch a little football today and spend more time with the kids.
They're wearing me out.  ;D

This was yesterday morning at sunrise.

Fine group of "chillins" there, Rick!

Wish I could report otherwise but now at 0850 it is still snowing in MI, heavy wet.
IMG_2877.jpeg

I did make a little progress with my 3d printing.  S-l-o-w-l-y for sure.

Addendum 2:30 pm

Made it to the train show/swap meet at Michigan State University. Pick up a couple piddly things. Passed the much ballyhooed Solar Fiasco, wonder how much juice these once productive acres of farm land are kicking out today?

Little else here.  Lions at 4:30.

Good morning Curt, ACLTom, TomO, Larry, Rick, Karl and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, hope you catch the varmint real soon.

ACLTom, hope Pam is feeling better.

TomO, hope the find the issue with Terry's eyes and it get corrected real soon, and good luck with the insurance issue.

Larry, hope you make it to the bench.

Rick, looks like everyone ius having a great time camping.

Karl, we don't have any white stuff yet but it's coming.  :o

Temperature here is -1c (31f), overcast with white stuff in the forecast for the next 3 days.  They are predicting 10-20cm (4-8 inches) today.  :o   Maybe the weather people will be wrong and we don';t get anything.   ;D

Been a very busy couple of days with work and such, went to the office on Friday morning to get the winter tires put on my vehicle and before I knew it it was 5:30pm.  :o  I hate it when last minute stuff comes up.  Yesterday was our local NMRA meet so I spend the day there with clinics in the morning and modeling in the afternoon.  I started building another Mount Blue boxcar.  I already started 3 of them a while ago, but figured I may as well build a small fleet of them at once.  Might need to start a thread on the process.

Today is race day and then some football,  I might make it to the bench while watching football.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning folks,

Curt, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast.  Nice of you to keep the fort safe while the family does those shopping chores.

TomACL, sending a get well soon wish to Pam.

TomO, sending well wishes to Terry for her eyes.

Larry, good luck at the bench.

Rick, fantastic family photo, and what fun!

Karl, hope you stay warm.  Is the northern compound closed for the winter?

Dave B, wishing you health and happiness, too.

James, get well wishes for your shoulder.

Dave, the Boston concert sounds nice.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a hazy morning at 62°F, climbing to 65°F later.  Not much on the agenda for the day, all my sports teams have a bye this weekend. I'll probably start constructing the base of the derrick.  The BCMC combine color scheme is chosen, and I'll post samples later today.

Have fun,
mike

After a really long night's sleep, I'm up.  Wife is making waffles, so I don't have to cook Sunday breakfast.  Every 6 weeks or so she gets the desire for waffles, relieving me of cooking duties.

Yesterday before I crashed, I did a bit more work on the two sweepers for the Machine Shop.  I glued them into place, and called it a day.  Today's task is to start window glazing by looting my stash of Tichy casting packages with laser-cut glazing.

Karl nice picture but you can keep it there.

Ron you have a busy day scheduled there!

Mike the derrick is great.

Dave I saw the sweepers nice work.

Weather in South Jersey is P. sunny/61.
We were going to head South of us today to Long Beach Island but I don't think the weather is going to cooperate.
So we will see what happens.

Everyone have a wonderful day!!  :)

Good morning, all. Thanks for the wishes re: my shoulder. It's better today than yesterday, and much better than Friday.  I've been doing the same thing as TomO for several years: just paying anything beyond what Medicare A/B cover. I have no use for all the coverage/approval games the insurance companies play. The time they want me to spend is more valuable to me than the money needed to pay list price.  I know not everyone can do this, I wish we did it differently.

I'm up for standing/sitting work today, not crawling underneath the layout, so once I've looked over the Forum I'll see what needs doing that feels right.

I spend my days lately taking care of my disabled wife. Her hip is locked up and doesn't move without excruciating pain. She had already had a replacement and a revision in the past.
Surgical relief scheduled, but not for three more weeks of pain till then

Be thankful for good health if you have it.

Heading to Louisville to visit Tom for the last time. Sad day, this man was like a dad!

Larry C

Good Morning,

The coffee's ready along with your other favorite morning beverages. Breakfast cheesy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and/or pan sausages with hash browns. There's a bottle of hot sauce if you want "a little more pep in your step."

Philip sorry to hear about your friend; that sort of thing is never easy.

What's your plans for the day.

It's a chilly 30 with a high of 39 in New York. Had a dusting overnight with the main event coming between 6 pm today and 6 am Tuesday; they're saying 3-7 inches of the white crap....and here we go. Grocery shopping on tap shortly which will be an all morning event, along with filling the car up with petrol. Been spending the last couple of afternoons watching videos and playing with the Trainz app; I think I finally turned the corner on the learning curve and am actually getting somewhere. Maybe some bench time later as well as a thread update.

Have a great day!! Be well and keep warm.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Larry. Hope you make it to the bench.

Happy 250th Birthday to the US Marines. Semper Fi.

Yesterday MOH called off the skunk event due to rain but still made it to the commisary. Of course, I forced myself to sacrifice modeling for 3 hours. I finished the windows and doors for the Foundry building. Next up is painting the stone walls.

Tomorrow the feel like temp starting out is supposed to be 31F! :o

Philip I'm very sorry about your friend.

TomO I hope Terry is doing better today.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Larry. Cheesy scrambled eggs and OJ, perfect.

James, good news on the shoulder.

Philip, the pain of loosing a friend isn't easy but the good memories will replace the grief. Enjoy the visit and remember the good times.

As Curt said, our first real cold day is tomorrow. Good news, is we'll be back to normal on Thursday.

I finished my first video of the Structures on the A&S RR.  Several more are planned in the coming months. This one is 13+ minutes long.
