Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for the coffee and muffin.  Good to hear it is warm out there.

Curt, congrats on the new kit start.

Larry, good luck with the couch rebuild.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a bright morning but still cold. Not much on the agenda today.  Several 1:1 chores, then upstairs to finish the sheriff's office.

Have fun,
mike

We stayed positive last night, down to +2 and up a whole degree at 8:30.  High of 15 predicted, and no signs of the Nor'Easter/Bomb Cyclone they've been talking about.  Guess that will track much further east.

Today I'll do the trim on 3 of the barn walls, and I might even get them assembled.  I'm making good progress on this.

-3o but sunny 8) here this morning.  Deer that were asleep under the pines have just run off.  It appears pretty, but the single digits are getting old.  My son says his auto repair shop is "slammed" with 2-3 weeks of work piling up.

I saw a followup video to the derailed locomotives, they're building a new bridge across the "slough" that must be costing tons of money.  Solid looking structure that looks permanent.  I'm sure there have been some overlooking of permitting to get that done in Oregon so fast, or much of any place these days.  -just found it- too much music.  :o

Layout and bench time may come my way today.  Hoops tonight, SPARTY against a very good team from A2 so it should, hopefully, be a barn burner.  :-\

Wasted my day making bean soup, good the Doll said but not too enjoyable to me, I wasn't overwealmed and then, it didn't seem to like me much :o  ::)  and no dogs to blame it on... :P  :-X

Yeah Rick, gotta love lighthouses

Crisp Point on Lake Superior.

Most likely you'll need a snow mobile to get there today. Winter snow has been brutal up there. They don't plow the road. It's a challenge in the summer time.

That's all I got.  Be well.

Good afternoon everyone,

Checking in real late today due to circumstances beyond my control.

Current temperature is -a5c (5f) with blue skies.  Day started out normal enough with a trip to the barber (long overdue) and while there the Mrs called me about the house being cold 16c (61f) and dropping.  Called are heating and cooling guy and they had someone show up within the hour.  A limit switch needed to be change and now we have heat again.  Only cost me $180.00 for the service call, money well spent.  Now I get to go out once the Mrs gets back and complete the days errands.  Tonight we plan to visit my Mom so I'm getting the feeling that the bench will have to wait another day.  Tomorrow is the SLD meet with clinics in the morning and modeling in the afternoon.

Have a great day everyone.

Ron, glad they got the heat back on quickly.

Philip[, hope there wasn't more white stuff.

Karl, excellent lighthouse photo.

Dave, keep making good progress.

Mike, the Sheriff's Office is a prize winner.

Larry, hope the sofa rebuild goes well.

Curt, I'll be wearing my mittens today.

TomO, ACLTom, James and everyone else looking in, hope you are all well.

I hit the gym early yesterday and then hit the road to continue west.
Driving past Dallas and Fort Worth wasn't fun.
Mike, do cars in Texas come equipped with turn signals?
It will be cold but I think today I'll visit Caprock SP and do a hike with Star there.

One more from Caddo Lake.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. We have the same turn signal issue in FL. Safe travels westward. Another nice photo.

Starting out at 60F then slowly falling through the day until this time tomorrow it will be 27F (actual). Midday we start seeing 30-40 mph winds that will last up to 6 hours. Brrrr. The 20's will be on Sunday and Monday.

Yesterday I applied a diluted A&I to the front of the clapboard walls and black on the back. After that I read, re read and re re read the next steps to understand what I'm supposed to do. I think I have it but I'll start out going over them again.

Today will be spent trying to stay warm and coloring strip wood for the barn.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Couldn't even imagine trying to drive through those areas. N.Y. drivers have the same turn signal problem....they're standard equipment people. Safe travels westward.

Curt welcome to my world; we're finally going to be in the 20's next week; time to break out the lawn chair and the sunscreen....of course after I snow-blow the back yard. Have fun with the kit.

What's on your agenda.

It's 5 with a high of 13 here. Today is couch day at the daughters so hopefully that goes well. Probably zero bench time today and pizza for dinner later.

Have a great day!! Be well, travel safe, and keep warm.

Headed to OPS at Keeney's this morning, it's 4o but supposedly will be sunny today.  8)

Little to add, SPARTY fell flat last night, couldn't hit their shots, came back and led 10 min into the 2nd half, had been down 13.  They couldn't hold it.  Refs didn't help them much.  Spoils the game when it takes 5 minutes to "Review" tv and then confer over a call....kills momentum.  Oh well, it's only a game.

Time to run.

Be well all.

Have a great day everyone.

Rick, I don't mind the traffic in Houston. But Dallas! OMG what were the road engineers thinking of when they designed the roadways there. I grew up and still travel lots through Chicago. and la traffic sucks too but Dallas IMOO is the absolute worst.

No turn signals, that's mostly a Texan thing because as the signs say drive the Texas Way!

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Rick, much appreciated. I had OJ this morning but tomorrow it will be a couple of cups of hot choclate.

Rick, yes, I'm fine just haven't had much time to sit at the bench lately.

I'm spending the day with Pam, you know, trying to keep the weeds out of the marriage garden. This  is her day, get her hair done, roam through the antique mall and then early dinner. Tomorrow the day is mine.  ;D

I talked to t he Judge and he is doing fine. They now have a chair lift and he has been walking further each day with the walker.

That's all from me, have a safe and warm day everyone.

Officially, it got down to -4 here, so this was our coldest night so far.  (My recording thermometer said -7, but it's usually a bit colder than the official temperature.)  But no wind, so for me at least, it's not too bad.

Scotch Club has been called for 3:00 this afternoon, so that gives us 2 hours before sunset.  High of 23, so that should be OK.

Today's goal is to look at the foundation pieces against the wood structure, to see what adjustments are needed.  I might need to fiddle with the front of the barn that hangs over the plaster foundation, it has a bit of warp and I'm not sure there's room for bracing.

Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast.  The lack of turn signaling used to make me crazy.  I grew up 60 miles north of WF.  Safe travels west.

Curt, good luck with the strip wood.

TomO, there are simply too many people in the DFW area.  Lots of people from rust belt and Cali settled there in waves over the years.  The transportation system designers had no idea it would grow so much.  They sure missed that one.

TomACL, good news about the Judge.  Wishing you a fun day with Pam.

Dave, good luck with the foundation and walls.

How is the rest of the gang?

It's an overcast morning at 28F with winds gusting at 35 mph.  I think we dodged the sneaux bomb, but I wasn't going out anyway.  Today, I hope to finish the signs for the sheriff's office. I'm trying to decide on layout work or starting the post office...

Have fun,
mike

Good morning from OPS Saturday day. I totally spaced this one out forgetting I signed up for it. Thank goodness for my calendar alerts I have setup. I get picked up at 12:15pm.

Yesterday I spent most of the morning and early afternoon dropping feeder wires for the resistance soldering guy rolling behind me. What a great tool that is, so quick, so neat and small. I cut the feeders, trimmed one end, made a 1/8" L, drilled the hole and dropped it. He came in behind me and did his thing. I finished the drops and went back to the beginning and attached the feeder to the bus lines. Feeders on every 3' section of rail, double main and yard on one level. Way too many drops to count. There was another crew of 3 on the other end of the layout doing the same thing. We were 2 wiring guys short so instead of me doing scenery forms I  was the wire guy and connector guy. We will do it again Tuesday with the 2 resistance soldering guys working the 2- 40' long staging yards. There will be 4 guys laying track today as yesterday they were putting down cork roadbed for the mainline. Rolls of cork sheet has been drying in the staging yards. Today  nthey will do the staging and then the mains if they get that far

So Central Wisconsin temperatures are nice, +12 feels like -1 but heading to +24 and +10 wind chill.

Have a great day
TomO
